Amadeus's whole plan was too experiment on humans, to create zombies, alien type creatures, robots and cyborgs and send them out upon the world to commit mass genocide and he did this under the guise of "Morden" (who was a robot) to pin it on his army. throughout the entire game you can see Amadeus's initial A on missiles and tanks and such

This is true but the real story is Amadeus wants to release his computer virus called "White baby" and start a cyber war. The enemies you encounter in the game like the mummies and the chemical that turns you into zombies are samples gathered by his men and weaponized them.

Also, we went from evil aliens who took over the bad guy to... some mad scientist dude. Sure, Mad Scientist Dude looks like he has a fun battle, but that's still a bit of a downgrade when it comes to story.

Lanky macCrazyhair amadeus is a very great villain to, better than Morden. Morden wants to destroy bad government using stupid metods like a war, and Rootmars is the stereotipe of and alien that wants to conquer the world, Amadeus reasons of villain are never explained but he is just pure evil, zombying/murdering people with massive genocide guns. But yeah, his battle is a downgrade considering the epicness of the last two levels of MS2/3
From what I understand, after Metal Slug 3 a lot of fans were not happy with the series slide into the supernatural and wanted a return to the straight military action from the first game.

The final boss difficulty was ok during the first 2 phases, but once he starts with the ricocheting blasts, the cameras and the lasers going down it's just straight up insane. Even worse, at some point the lasers going down bait you hard time. Some people here probably know what I mean.

Sure, his battle isn't that great and epic than Rootmars, but for me is a very mature villain considering he is a genocide bastard (he zombified innocent people in and amusement park using Big John).

People bitch at Slug 4 for using so many reused assets, but Amadeus has the most original looking war machines in the game. It's a hell of a lot better than the first three bosses where you can actually see the proverbial seams on the stitched together sprites

amadeus is the reused sprite of the homeless man who is a "bonus item" in metal slug 1 and appear in metal slug 2 in the first stage XD
Fun fact: Canon-wise, Amadeus isn't exactly dead at the end of this game. He somehow survives, and lives on to create what he called "Virus A.I." Programs, One of which was made to be like a Daughter to him, a Prototype of the V.A.I. Codenamed: White Baby.
I love the music in the second and bosses with that music onward

It's funny (and interesting) that MS4 ends with a Cliffhanger, but we never see Amadeus or any of his creations again in future games, which's kinda sad, I mean, at least it wasn't Morden and his Rebel army again, pretty much because of MS3 ending (Until MS6 and 7/XX)
What's more funny is that the bosses here (most of them) are reused assets from the last 3 Metal Slug games.

I don't care what people say. Yes ms4 used previous content from the other games but at least it's a new spin and its the only metal slug that has a secret ending. And we can't forget the soundtrack. So ms4 my favorite game in the series.

There is a second version of sea setan appears in metal slug attack, makes appearance in extra ops "One Mind" which can use jet engine and special attack is jet engine and missiles as long range attack and red color repainted to amadeus color *purple*

well allen survived in all games minus the 4th one which is the fake allen at first and cyborg clone at second and Sword Master is right the game is not released through timeline order but with different sections which also explains the sudden and weird placement in each games
