    This guy starts the video, says what hes going to do, then quickly does it. I swear 99% of tutorials just jib jab for 5min and never get to the point. This on the other hand is perfect.

    Great tutorial! Much easier to follow than others that I've watched. The only thing I struggled with was seeing what you were doing in Ableton because your profile camera screen was kind of blocking the arrangement screen but I figured it out. I really enjoyed the beat I made with your lesson. Thank you!

    I have a push 2 controer and my question is how is making the beat on the arrangement view conducive to laying out the whole song from start to finish? I ask this because having the push 2 I feel that figuring out how I want this song to be layed easier on the mix window. I can play certain sound and turn off certain sounds to get a sense of where I want the beat to go. How does doing in on the arrangement window conducive for layout ideas?

    What I missed was an explanation why would you choose MIDI or Audio?

  • @Amatteus
    @Amatteus Před 3 lety +1

    Oscar: you are a very good teacher... You forgot to explain how you do both in Session view.

    • @OscarUnderdog
      @OscarUnderdog  Před 3 lety +1

      Right! With MIDI its easy but no so easy with individual audio samples. In session view I recommend sticking to midi plus maybe audio loops.

    • @Amatteus
      @Amatteus Před 3 lety +1

      @@OscarUnderdog True.. IN sesion view with midi ( the piano roll) is the same .. juts fill in the drum rack pian rollo as a step squencer.. But I just tried with audio and realised its not easy,..you have to put the Loop fuction to make it repetitive..And for that you have to adjust the start and end of the loop. I think in Sesion is best workin with drum rack, captain beats, or Xo and then when you go to arrengement if you want full control export every instrument in a dedicated track. Agree?.

    • @OscarUnderdog
      @OscarUnderdog  Před 3 lety +1

      @@Amatteus exactly! I think arrangement view is best when exporting is the objective. Session view is better for jamming ideas and performance.

    • @Amatteus
      @Amatteus Před 3 lety

      @@OscarUnderdog I start all my songs in sesion..and try lots of different things there, combinations of sounds until i have the best options... and then move to arrengment.. Lots of people skip this great tool for jaming , experimenting, exploring, and testing your sounds.. To me , they miss a lot.

    Should you always convert your midi to audio?

  • @zlobert9877
    @zlobert9877 Před 2 lety

    Hey im new to Ableton and im wondering,even when i put the selected size of my grid in midi editor and when i click a tone i want to add,the size is random unlike on yours where the size of the note is perfect according to the grid you choose. Do you know why that is happening? Thanks in advance,love your tutorials!

      @J450N17 Před 2 lety +1

      Hey man, I am super beginner so I might be completely wrong here but this might be to do with "quantizing" notes, usually there is a setting to quantize or not quantize somewhere

    Which pack did you download? If I download the cassette 808 it only has the .wav files

  • @proteus1

    Cubase is a nightmare to learn especially starting out. Abelton seems like a great choice for people starting out.

  • @proteus1

    No Midi sound can be heard after I add vocals. It palys the vocals but beat has gone.:(

    • @OscarUnderdog
      @OscarUnderdog  Před 2 lety +1

      If you drop a vocal onto a midi track, it might be replacing the MIDI track with an audio track! Hit undo (Ctrl/Cmd-Z) to get your beat back, Make an audio track, and put the vocal on there instead!

      @@OscarUnderdog IS there a way to not convert it and keep using it as a midi track? I mean if i want to use the vocal track on a single channel and write different notes with is (I want to do this with drums instead of using a drum rack), should I be using a sampler or is there a better way?
