  • No copyright infringement is intended with this, or any other video I upload. The purpose of uploading this video is for the viewing pleasure for those that watch it.
    This classic episode is called "Disneyland Around the Seasons".
    Before I go on, a special note about this episode. This episode originally aired on December 18, 1966, three days after Walt Disney died. As a result, when this episode aired, NBC, who aired the Disney series in those years, did not air the first few minutes of the episode, instead airing a special tribulte to Walt. So the first viewers of this episode never saw the first few minutes. That material wasn't seen until this episode re-aired on the Disney Channel many years later.
    But also, you can see a visible change in Walt's appearance during this seasons of episodes, as evidenced by this video (and the film showing his plans for Disney World), so the onset of the lung cancer that claimed him was already apparent.
    But in this episode, we see some highlights of Disneyland's 11th year, highlighted by a man in a jet pack flying over Tomorrowland. That would also be a part of the pre-game for Super Bowl I, which was played at the L.A. Coliseum exactly one month after Walt Disney's death.
    After that, we see three new attractions, two of which we see the opening of, and one completely new land. First, we see "it's a Small World" open in Fantasyland on Memorial Day, 1966 (which fit the Disneyland tradition of opening an attraction on a hoilday) and "Great Moments With Mr/ Lincoln" on Main Street at the operahouse the year before. Then, New Orleans Square is opened, followed by "the Primevil World", which was put on a section of the Disneyland railroad.
    After that, it's time for the 1965 Christmas "Fantasy on Parade", which includes some new entrants. Not only are all the old favorites there, but so are Mary Poppins and another new member to the Disney family of cartoon characters, Winnie the Pooh, who Walt Disney acquired in 1963. And of course, after the parade, we see the nighttime festivities.
    All rights and credits go to the Walt Disney Company and those that created the video and audio, including the music used in the program. That includes the Disney Channel, as I recorded this program on their Vault Disney block more than a decade ago.
    If there are any others who I'm forgetting, please let me know so I can add them to the list of those to credit.
    There's a chance that this video will be taken down, not allowed up, or I'll be asked to take it down. If I'm asked to, I will take it down.

      If you're taking about when the host segments of this episode were filmed, then you would be right. If I were to guess, the host segments Walt did for the entire 1966-'67 season were filmed in July or August of 1966. However, this episode actually aired three days after Walt's death. He died on December 15, 1966 and this episode was first aired on December 18, 1966, and the opening sequence was not aired at all when the episode first aired. Instead, the opening sequence was replaced by a tribute to Walt since it was the first episode that aired after his death.

    • @cjs83172
      @cjs83172  Před 9 lety +7

      Hard to say, and the same goes for his ultimate dream, Walt Disney World. The one thing he would certainly like is how the Disney theme parks keep on evolving. There's a reason why Walt Disney said that Disneyland would NEVER be complete, as long as there is imagination left in the world.
      But on the other hand, I'm not sure he would like the fact that places like Frontierland, which Walt built to honor the past, has almost been completely done away with. But I think that he would like more of the changes than those he wouldn't like. Disneyland started with four or five "lands", and now it has about eight or nine, and with limited space (and even less now that other places around Disneyland, but within the Disneyland resort), the more "lands" that are built, the more space is taken away from other "lands".

    I love the old shows. The opening brings back great memories of childhood, the Wonderful World of Disney was kids/family time on TV. Thank you so much for posting. The opening highlighted the fact that yes indeed the show was in color, technically advanced in the earlier 60's.
    I'm not sure why Disney doesn't have a similar show today on ABC. In general Disney is pretty good at cross advertising. If they did a nice family ABC show right, we'd all want to line up at Disney Parks, get their cable channels, buy their movies, etc.
    ...Pretty sure the Haunted Mansion opened in 69.

    • @cjs83172
      @cjs83172  Před 10 lety

      The original opening did highlight the fact that the episodes were shown in color. However, the it did not show the full magic of Disney, which is why I use the 1970s opening to all the ones in color, because it does show the full magic of Disney. In fact, the portion of the opening from 0:22-0:24 (the part from "it's a Small World") in the opening comes from this very episode, as does the part shown from 0:38-0:40, which comes from "Fantasy on Parade", also from this episode. So "Disneyland Around the Seasons" contributes twice to the 1970s opening that I use for all the colorized episodes.

    I would love to someday see Walt in person... But I know that's impossible since he passed away December 15th, 1966. But if science ever gets to the point of being able to perfectly bring back anyone who ever died, I will camp out in line with my Mouseketeer hat and my Goofy plush toy to meet Walter... And I'm 24.
    And I know he didn't like signing autographs or stopping for every little thing a fan wanted because he had so many fans... So all I would want would be give him a good hug and give him a big thank you for everything he's done. He made my childhood dream of meeting a dinosaur a reality, (it's a long story, but) his animations even touched Japan and started something else I loved growing up -anime-, his ride "Small World" had a song that brought me closer to my mother when I was little because we would sing it together and she would tell me all about the magical land she visited as a kid called Disneyland (and she always promised to take me there someday to see all of the magic in person) and his films helped give me an appreciation for stories and music... Really, he has done a lot for all of us here today... And I'm sure that's one thing that would make him smile that "I've got a crazy idea/I'm so pleased" kind of smile he always used to get.

    I remember in the 90s when I was at Disneyland one Christmas, I was like 6 or so at the time, a small group of carolers around the hotels were asking song requests from people, and I asked them to play "Silent Night." They politely tiptoed around it to suggest playing another song like "Jingle Bells." I went back there when I was 16 with my family that Christmas (2006) and just to see what would happen, I asked them to sing "Silent Night" again. They did. :)

      And two significant additions to the Disney family between the version shown in the 1962 episode "Holiday Time at Disneyland" and this episode were Mary Poppins and Winnie the Pooh, which Walt Disney had not yet acquired by the "Holiday Time at Disneyland" episode, but had by this episode near the end of 1966 (though Disney had not yet done anything with Winnie the Pooh).
      Now the "Holiday Time at Disneyland" version has an extended version of the Christmas festivities, while that part of the Fantasy on Parade portion of this episode, like the "its a Small World" cruise, was cut for time purposes.
      The Fantasy on Parade portion of these Disneyland programs were so popular that in 1971, an entire performance of "Disney on Parade" from 1971 was a full hour episode onto itself.

      @remasterproductions2599 Před 3 lety

      @Michael Talbert I go with what the cold hard facts of history and the first hand accounts from the people who were there. After all, freedom means justice towards all, regardless of their race, skin color, country, or creed. And that's what Abraham Lincoln stood for.
      So tell me. What do those words mean to you? What does the term freedom for all mean to you? What does the phrase equal opportunity mean to you? There are some people who would take those phrases and stop them into the dirt. And I can name a few people, mainly Adolf Hitler and Sudan Hussain. I'm proud of being an American, because this is the land where we escaped the rule of a king. Would people rather be under the high taxations and terrible rule of a king, a despot, a dictator, a political manipulator, a blueblood with the intellect of a flea, or a tyrant?
      Would you accept it if someone told you that you're not worth it? Because I sure wouldn't. If someone were to say, this guy should be erased from history because of so and so, or this woman should be forgotten about because such and such, I would not accept that because that is not what kids need to learn. I grew up learning about the REAL history. The REAL history of America. The REAL America forged by great men like Abraham Lincoln. The REAL America that gave us Babe Ruth, Elvis Presley, John Henry, Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan, Joe Megaric, Captain Stormalong, Johnny Appleseed, Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, and all the other real men and women as well as the men and women of folklore that kids grew up hearing tales about. THAT America is the America I love and live in. THAT is the REAL America that people have forgotten about and blatantly ignored. Unlike everyone else who says that only black lives matter, I say that this truth, and I hold this truth to be self-evident, that ALL MEN AND WOMEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, AND ARE ENDOWED BY THEIR CREATOR WITH CERTAIN AND UNALIANABLE RIGHTS. AND THE FOREMOST AMONG THESE ARE LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. AKA, EVERY LIFE MATTERS, REGARDLESS OF THE COLOR OF YOUR SKIN OR WHERE YOU COME FROM IN THIS COUNTRY OR ANY OTHER COUNTRY. AN AMERICA DIVIDED IS NOT AMERICA.
      (Sorry, for putting it in capitals, I was just trying to make my point)

I believe these segments were done in the summer of 1966, not long before he was diagnosed with the lung cancer that killed him three days before this episode first aired. His last two on-camera segments were done on October 27, 1966, just about seven weeks before his passing.

    At 17:42 listen closely to what Lincoln said, it's happening right now. We are being destroyed from within, that is the only way we can be defeated. In 1966 I was 18 and in the Navy stationed on a ship in the Mediterranean. There was no shortage of enemies around us, but we had no fear. We knew exactly why were there, Lincoln said it perfectly. We endured more than people back home could imagine and we were willing to give our lives for the values Lincoln spoke of. Now I'm old and disabled, wondering if all those sacrifices was worth it. Well, it was certainly worth it to Americans then, just look at the audience their expression says it all. Those who try to emphasize all the wrongs are dishonest in diverting attention from all the rights that were everywhere. Our enjoyment of life is mocked by our enemies within, now why would they do that? It's because they hate liberty and want power over others. Those seeds of despotism he spoke of have been planted and growing like weeds. The despots are everywhere trying to dictate to us what can and can't say, what we should think and how we should live. Their absurd claim is they know us better than we know ourselves and they are sole possessors of truth. Like all despots, they are filled with contempt, hate and superiority. We will either take a stand for our liberty, freedom and equal rights or we will eventually be totally subjugated by the lowest form of human intellect that has the blackest heart.

      Of course, when Lincoln made those comments in the 1860s, he was referring to the Civil War, when Americans were fighting each other on the battlefield, but now, more than anything else, politics is what may be tearing this nation apart from within, though there are likely other things contributing to that, but politics has to be the #1 reason that the nation seems to be falling apart. During the Civil War, America had Lincoln to keep this country together in it's time of it's greatest crisis. Now, there seems to be a political version of the Civil War taking place, and I'm not sure anyone seems capable of pulling the nation together through this current political crisis, which is tearing the nation apart from within.

    • @tdfisk
      @tdfisk Před 10 lety +1

      ***** The time he spoke those words are as relevant today as when he spoke them. Actually they are even more relevant today because the internal threat isn't so obvious as the Civil War.
      Interesting observation, but terribly inaccurate. Blaming politics is kind of like blaming Mankind for all the wars. Politics is an extremely complex subject with many levels, dimensions and interpretations. There are good politics, bad politics, sloppy politics and the art of politics. In short, politics is merely the title of a library of books that stretch to infinity and beyond. Sorry, I really liked Toy Story.
      America is not falling apart, it is in a massive power struggle by left-wing factions who are really stupid, but have very smart and powerful puppet masters. They use a simple concept of divide and conquer, each faction focused on a specific social strength and destroying it. Some social strengths are so strong that they've required several specialized factions. Like the family bond, which includes loving, devoted relationships, gender identity, reproduction and of course children. Boy have they done a number on these. Politics and economics are no big deal, they can be easily repaired once the American people heal the severe wounds inflicted on them. We are fortunate in a way because the object of the power struggle is not to destabilize our economy, on the contrary it's actually amazingly stable. Our economy is kind of like Halloween, people go around in scary masks trying to frighten people. The ultimate goal is to get bags of that delicious candy (profits). As to politics, the goal is to confuse people enough so they can't see what's really going on. Don't ask me what's really going on, that will require a very sophisticated intelligence service that is extremely effective, unlike our CIA, NSA, FBI, etc., etc., and of course etc..
      I first took interest in all this back in the late 60s during the anti-war protesters. There was something fishy about them, so I got really close to them, many thinking I was their best friend. They weren't shy back then, they openly admitted they were communists. The FBI was the biggest joke going. Within a week I knew they were receiving financial and other support from both The Soviet Union and Communist China. For 45 years I've watch them build their organizations and succeed at their goals. I tried like hell to warn people. I spend countless hours working on literature to show how they can be identified and defeated. I fought them every inch of the way and never lost a single battle, but a battle doesn't win a war. Anyway, I've done more than my part and paid very high prices for it, at least I can die content that I didn't sit on my ass doing nothing. I do now, I've earned it, but I still fight.

      There are many reasons why the moral of this country is fading. I named politics as the #1 reason, as it controls everything else, but there are numerous others, almost too many to mention. But Lincoln was right then about being destroyed from within, and about 150 years later, those statements are equally accurate, if not for the same reasons as they were then.

    • @tdfisk
      @tdfisk Před 10 lety +2

      ***** Well, politics certainly affects everyone, but it doesn't have to control them. Now if you're referring to social organization, there's definitely truth in that. The thing I hate the most about today is how overcomplicated it is. Back in the 50s & 60s life was so much simpler and we enjoyed life so much more. We knew how lucky we were to live in a free country and that flag was a precious symbol of everything we loved.

      And I can almost guarantee that the old-timers in the 1950s and 60s were saying that about the way things were in the early part of the 20th century. In fact, that's why the old frontier west and the Gay 90s (1890s, that is) were so popular far into the 20th century (shows such as Gunsmoke, which premiered episodes as late as 1975, are still popular today in reruns). People always want to harken back to the older days, even if they weren't around in those older days. I was born almost six years after Walt Disney died, yet I think Disney was better when Walt was around than it is now, so I'm not immune to this by any degree.

And the final filmings of Walt were done on October 27, 1966 (this was filmed prior to that). One was the promotional film in which he was giving plans for what was to become Walt Disney World, better known at the "EPCOT film", and the other was called "An Evening With Walt Disney", in which he was promoting "The Happiest Millionaire" and touted the future of a then-15 year old actor by the name of Kurt Russell. Those were his final appearances in front of the camera.

      No, CZcams didn't remove it. CZcams blocked it in most of the nations of the world, as it did several other classic Disney uploads. I was the one that removed it after it became blocked. What I do is that when I see that an upload is blocked in much of the world, I simply remove it. What the Walt Disney Company seemingly objects to is having parts of some of their animated features up. Other uploads that don't involve their animated features is something they don't seem to have a problem with, and may even enjoy the extra publicity that goes with having some of their history preserved for those to see. And a lot of the blocked content has to do with audio tracks used in the movies, which then carried over to the episodes in which they were featured.
