RaceChip Installation Videos can you do it for me🤣
@@JuggerGirl001 contact our customer support and they can refer you to the closest shop that can install it for you
You didn’t show which screws to unscrew on the bottom plate? I couldn’t install my chip because I couldn’t get the bottom plate off.
@@andrewcool10 Unfortunately is was too difficult to get a good camera angle showing the removal of the screws. We apologize for this.
I just bought this car what exactly does this chip do ? Im a female but I’m still interested in what it makes it do or what’s it for?
Just came here after 3 years to update everyone. I already had an AEM CAI installed when I installed this product and I will say I've driven several times from NJ to Florida and back without any issues. I never got any codes and it didn't void my warranty. However, I do recommend you put that cap that comes with it on when take it to the dealer so that everything appears stock. I also want to mention that on those trips it greatly improved MPG on the highway, especially just cruising with the cruise control on as opposed to before the mod.
And finally...... The question everyone's been wondering...... Does it add hp and make the car faster?
It does. Just not dramatically. The car is definitely way peppier. It does have a little more boost. But its not something crazy. Its definitely noticable. Just don't expect to break your neck with the g forces or something.
And now ... Would I get it again or recommend others to get it? I mean... I personally probably would have just gone with the Tri tune instead. But if you've got the money to spare or find a good deal, why not? It definitely makes the car a little more fun to drive. Go for it, if you've got the money. If you don't, save up and go for the full tri tune instead. The tri tune takes into account exhaust mods and intake mods specifically and it has the option to disable the autostart/stop. That's why I would have gone with that instead in retrospect.
I hate all work but no show
If I pay off my 2017 malibu lt I would purchase this! Lol👍
Why do you have to wait till you pay it off?
Ponyboy Caulfield warranty
you could do it even if you didn’t pay it off
@@blackktaurus3914 exactly lmao
What kind of horsepower gains are you looking at with this for a 2016 Malibu ls 1.5 Turbo....is it over 50hp gans or under
This splash guard is a pain in the butt
Does the chip actually make it better
@@nessjewelry3708 it's causing a bunch of engine codes to go off whenever it is plugged in, so the check engine light is on and it goes into low power/limp mode because of this. Currently working with Racechip to sort it out. I will post an update when there is more info.
Can we see the results on these Too?🤔
Hola buenas ,cuánta potencia podría ganar en un Smart forfourt 453 turbo de 90 hp gasolina con el modelo básico s .Muchas gracias . Saludos.
Would this work on the 2020 RS model?
Are there any dangers to doing this to the 2019 LS with a CVT?
What did you find out eventually?
@@superjam18 eventually the dealership head in a passing conversation said "we even had one come in with 200,000 miles on it!" And that sort of told me the whole story. Traded the car in asap, 200,000 should be an expected life not a rare occurrence. It's not exactly mated to a monster of an engine. Racechip is a good indicator of the power limits of this transmission though, and if you go to racechip website and put this car in the max they will let that device add is like 20-30ish HP. Basically don't mod the Malibu, 200hp is the transmission limit. The dealership also told me that even if I went outside of warranty to get a 2018 Malibu transmission or the 2 liter Malibu tranny I wouldn't be able to install it electronically. Apparently everything is vin locked in the car computers so "we'd have to get an authorization code directly from GM"
If you get a cvt, let it be from Honda, Toyota, or Subaru (I think). Those have launch gears so initial acceleration isn't done on the belts. Toyota cvts have clocked 300,000+ and still going from some mechanic and user reports.
Good day! I noticed you never mention the specific year of Malibu? The 2018's have a locked down ECU and NO other tuning kit works for them. Does this function with the 2018's?
Worked for mine
@@larrysimth9077 Thank you for the feedback. Please define "worked"? Have you dyno'd the car? What year Malibu do you have? No trying to sound skeptical, I'm really curious. There are NO tuning kits on the market for the 2018 (specifically) due to the "hardened" ECU.
@@mhodge00 what about 2016 they have it for that year ?
the 2018 and up malibus can be tuned, they just have to be unlocked
Is there any tuning kits for the 2020
Will this work on my 1.5 turbo 2019 equinox? 🤔
Truly, just take the bumper off to access the turbo pressure sensor. It's easier.
I own a 2020 Chevy Malibu LT will the GTS race chip work on my model??
What did you find out?
What hp and tq increases do you get from this product? Do you have any dyno pulls?
You can find that information here www.racechip.us/shop/chevrolet/malibu-v400-from-2015/1-5t-turbo-sidi-1490ccm-167hp-125kw-183lb-ft.html
Will this work for the 2019 model?
So I have everything connected and been driving in "sport" mode which I believe is the default setting. How long before I can switch to "race" mode? Like when you say the car needs "some time to adapt", how long is that? I'm using the Malibu 1.5 racechip and I have an AEM short ram intake.
about 10-15 miles in each map until the car is fully adjusted.
Does it work now?
@superjam18 I did what they said. I bought the thing when I was visiting my parents in florida and on the drive back to NJ, I just cycled through each one every like 20 miles or whatever. Don't know if it actually did anything in that sense. I will however say that it does work. It gave me a little boost. Is it worth it? I mean if you got the money laying around, sure. I'd personally go with the top of the line trifecta tune if I had to do it over again. Just because the trifecta tune has the auto start/stop delete option. But overall, I have no complaints. Mine still works and it's been a few years. Like before I had it, on launch it was slow and you wouldn't feel anything. But now on launch, I definitely noticed it pushes your body back to seat for a second or 2 from the g force. An intake and a muffler and res delete with a j pipe will definitely give you a little boost. Especially if you got the 2.0 . Don't sleep on the 2.0. I love my Mali. But in retrospect if I had the money for it, I definitely would have gotten the bigger engine with the trifecta tune instead. I still might later down the line when they start getting cheaper.
Will this work on my 2017 Malibu Premier 2.0l turbo?
Is it compatible with the 1.5 turbo equinox ?
On their website it has an option for a 2015 1.5t Malibu, under that menu it has the correct hp and tq for the 1.5t. From my understanding a 1.5t was never an option on the 13-15 Malibu only 2.4, 2.5 and 2.0t so I’m going to asume that they meant 2016+. (Please correct me if I’m wrong RaceChip)
Thank you for the notice. The website can be misleading. "From 2015" means that the current Malibu generation (V400) is built since 2015. This covers all model years since 2016.
Why does my turbo get extremely hot(cherry red) now that i have installed this race chip..i have a 2017 Malibu and the race chip is set on 5 (sport mode) i have the gts race chip
All of my vehicles have a tune from Race Chip and I am extremely happy with my purchase never having a single hiccup however with the Chevy Malibu it seems that there are just too many bugs in the tune where I would not feel comfortable recommending anyone to run it I’ve tried two separate chips on both of my 1.5 Malibu and all I received were probably never being able to get the car to run right with the tune installed
That is definitely not something you want to mess around with if I was you I would remove the chip in a heartbeat and contact racechip support
Have you figured out what the issue was
@@ajames6505 yeah i was giving it hell for an hour straight and not giving it time to cooldown but once i started driving it normal i was really impressed on how efficient it was
James Munoz Just out of curiosity what state do you live in
Will this work if I have a throttle booster hooked to the odb port since this hooks to engine just asking if you know it will work for both
Wondering what if i just unhooked battery for a few hours if it'd do anything
How is the performance difference with the racechip installed?? I have a 2020 malibu 1.5 and I was looking at the racechip.
Not much of a difference bro better off just getting a tune and a ram air intake I got a 2020 rs that's what I'm gonna do to it race chip won't add as much power as your probably thinking
Already have a k&n air intake in the 2020 RS and it sounds nice and definitely adds a little more power, just have to find a place to do good tune
K&N intake and exhaust. It will run good
how did you disable the alarm system system? i just got mine in and i’m not sure what to do now.
Just like the video states, pop the hood, close and lock the doors, move the key at least 30 feet away and wait no less than 10 minutes, then you should be good to go.
Will this race chip work on my 2016 model
If you have the 1.5L turbo it will work.
Is it an 8th generation or a 9th generation?
@@RaceChipInstallationVideos will this work on a 2018 model?
Will it still work with a short ram air intake? @RaceChip Installation Videos
Yes it will!
Will this void my extended warranty?
I would check with your warranty contract to see if adding a piggy back unit will void it. Do note, since we are a piggyback unit, if you spend a few minutes to remove the RaceChip before you take it in for service, the mechanic or technician will have no idea that the RaceChip was ever installed. You simply unplug the RaceChip from the sensors and re-insert the OEM plug. Most cars take 15-20 minutes to perform the un-installation. Once removed the RaceChip is virtually untraceable.
Nice pic man
Does the ECU adapt to the chip and degrades the performance of the car/chip ?
It doesn't degrade the performance.
Review it ?
Where did you get your bumper lip?
This was a customers vehicle, but I believe it was a factory bumper lip.
I tried the Rs chip on my two Chevy Malibu’s both equipped with the 1.5 and unfortunately I could not get the chip to work with either Racechip ended up sending me another chip free of cost but no avail
Im happy with the install..car runs badass with it I've never been happier

Does it increase mpg?
If driven with a light foot then yes, it can increase your MPG certainly! Especially on the high way.
Will it leave a trace in my ECU?
No it does not
How?
@@monkeyballz7147 I think it's basically "fooling" the stock computer by altering the boost sensor levels (making the car produce more boost but not knowing it) and by adding more fuel by altering the mass air flow signal to the vehicle.

Does it work with a 2016 malibu premier with the 2.0 T engine
Should I disconnect the battery?
It certainly doesn't hurt. This is the safest way to make sure there is no power to the engine bay.
Is this a 2020 Malibu?
This is a 2019 model year, but it is the same for the 2020's
Looks way too involved...other ecu tuned just plug and flash then done. Just saying
An ECU flash immediately voids your warranty. Our product can be removed before inspection and leaves no trail on the ECU. Just saying.
