Though Tisch is very competitive, Dramatic Writing is one of the more smaller departments which might give you a better chance of getting in than if you were applying to a department like Drama. Teachers vary throughout the department, depends who you ask, I personally loved my teachers and classes. If you enjoy writing, reading plays, and analyzing movies than the classes will be super easy and fun. You’re required two GenEd classes, but they are about analyzing art as well. First semester is more of an overview of writing, next semesters you get to choose to focus your major on either play, T.V., or screenwriting. I’ll be making a video at the end of the school year going more in depth with my first year experience. Hope this was helpful!

Nayara Place if you look at the Tisch Drama application on the official NYU website it’ll show you the whole process, with Drama it’s usually an audition process where you first send in a video and then audition in person in New York

Xylophobia you could probably qualify for financial aid under FAFSA and apply for the Tisch Scholarships to help pay your tuition, I have friends who got their tuitions fully paid by the school!
Andie Klisz My #1 tip for the application is to have a diverse body of work for your portfolio, have scenes from plays, movies, T.V., if you’ve written poems, songs, raps, put those in too. Make sure your voice as a writer is strong and clear with your portfolio.

Hey wanna ask one thing. I was planning to apply for dance in TISCH after my school gets over. So since I live in india, so do I need to give SAT for Tisch?? I really really wanna go to NYU. I mean its my dream and dance is life. (DRAMA also) so please can you clear my doubt since almost all the universities require sat which has maths and m very WEAK at maths!! THANK U
mahika Kariwala even though sending in SAT scores is required for the application, it really doesn’t matter if you’re applying for Tisch. I got terrible SAT scores but as long as you meet the minimum GPA requirement all that matters is your creative merit in your artistic review so focus all your energy on your art
