- Following the close of a galaxy-spanning war, the members of FIXER, a slapdash special forces team, are no longer needed. Washed up and no longer having a purpose, they now find themselves sent on useless mission after useless mission. They pass their time by complaining and doing whatever they can to stave off boredom. However, on this newest assignment they slowly and unwittingly begin to uncover a strange mystery. Each member will be tested -whether by sheer monotony and boredom of military life or else by the unfathomable dangers lurking just beneath.
In this episode, FIXER arrives at their new home and discovers a strange housewarming gift...

A lot of the times "This is extremely similar to ____" usually isn't good, but this being SO close to Red Vs Blue is so cool. It feels like any moment now Tucker, Grif, Caboose, etc will just turn the corner and go "What are you two arguing about"

I just want to see a spike grenade hit the wall in front of them. “What the hell?” Then right before it goes off you hear Caboose say “Tucker did it!”

What a great love letter/spiritual successor to RvB. Can't believe I stumble across something this good when it's so unknown! Only 100 subs? 700 views? It's always a gamble when you click on a video like that. I definitely won the low view roulette today! Good characters, writing, and acting? Ya love to see it! Can't wait to see where the story goes! Looking forward to episode 2, however long production takes!

Most of the VAs have already sent in their lines (some have even gotten 3 done) so hopefully well have it out this time next month, maybe a bit sooner if we're lucky and I no-life it again.

Is RvB still going? I tried to like zero (i think thats what it was called) and although i thought the VA's did a good job, it didnt feel like RvB. it felt like some generic rip off. I knew it would come eventually but damn it hit hard that the RvB most of us grew up with was gone.

A Halo 3 Machinima in 2023? A surprise, to be sure, but a pleasant one.
This is actually a breath of fresh air from the Rooster Teeth show. I’m totally digging this laidback tone, barely any music, and the softer voices of the characters. Keep this going for more episodes, I really think you got something special brewing up here!

I started this completely intending to watch like maybe 5 minutes and say "ah well, nice to see machinimation back at it again" but i'll be honest I sat through the whole damn thing because I honestly enjoyed it. The jokes were good, the writing was alright and the pacing pretty good. I usually get bored since most people tend to drag out bits, but y'all kept it long enough to get the details in but short enough it wasn't boring. Very clever use of camera work as well, its obvious a lot of thought and effort went into this. Truly, a damn good job on it!

Making machinimas is like doing something you always wanted to do as a kid, and just never grew out of it.
Man, I love how grounded the characters feel. None of the characters feel too exaggerated which does wonders for the humor and dialogue, and I really like how everybody is able to carry the story forward in their own way.
This is just a delightful thing, the jokes are funny and the dynamic of the characters is already an absolute pleasure to watch! I'm glad I saw this in my recommendations and thought "Why not?"

I do the writing, animating, filming, editing, etc. I can't really rush things without making the quality suffer tremendously. So taking my time is kind of a requirement :) but thank you. Ill be sure to take my time and try my best to make each episode the best I can

Nice slow burn. Really nails the mundanity of the peacetime Army aesthetic. They may be wearing big metal hunks of armor in the future but, men will always be the same. Teasing eachother endlessly to stave off time, the dark humor and dumb conversations, the dumb new guy, timelines getting moved to the left just because, the "fuck it, send it" vibes everyone gives off so they can go home early. Good times. Can't wait to see more!
Also, I don't know if you guys have ever seen Spriggs but this totally gave me flashbacks to that machinima lol.

Reminds me of the good old machinima days. Back when Red Vs Blue was good and when the Battlefront 2 A Clone Apart Series was still around. I miss those days and wish people would practice those old formats and styles and remained faithful to them. Good days.

Had my doubts, my brother reccomended this to me as a "successor to RvB" in my head, that has a 1/1000 chance of being good. Well can I say that this is in fact that 1/1000'th chance. Amazing job guys, absolutely stellar 👍🌠.

Its supposed to be slower but I think I can improve the pacing a bit more. Make it FEEL less slow, ya know. Hopefully episode 2 will be an improvement in that area.
@@blazingb00mrang I mean I enjoyed the slower pace. Makes it feel like an actual military mission. You have command breathing down your neck saying it needs to be done ASAP, but at the same time you take it slow so you don’t get shot. I think it was great.

Feels like early red vs blue but if the whole cast were actually just a random normal(ish) grunt squad out in the middle of nowhere. I like how... the word for it isnt "slow" but maybe lower paced compared to RvB. It feels more like people having conversations than characters being written to have constant funny banter. The humor is more "your competent-but-still-low level coworkers are shooting the shit" and I appreciate that vibe. So far so good! Great first episode.

The writing and pacing are bad, but they're bad in exactly the way '00s machinima was, and I so deeply respect that. Like, I can feel the effort that went into flaunting the basic rules of scriptwriting in order to accomplish the vibe, and the vibe is impeccable.
You guys really nailed the humour and nodding that RvB does with their helmets. Already love the characters and overall production was awesome! Consider me subscribed ^^

I just now realized that Duke brilliantly recontextualized RVB's "Why are we here?" quote with just a little bit of pronunciation.
RVB's "Why are we here?" was basically a sum-up of the whole premise. "What are we even accomplishing in this supposed war by being stuck in this closed space in the middle of nowhere?"
Crash does the exact same thing with, "Why are WE out HERE?" which basically translates to, "Why are WE, a special forces team, doing the UNSC equivalent to janitor work, instead of what we're known for?"
You know right away these guys fell from a high point just from that one well-phrased question. Genius.
And from there, more info is trickled in through Crash and Duke's exchange. ORGANIC exposition, at that. Like Frodo informing Gandalf that he's become a "disturber of the peace".
I swear, RVB walked so this series could sprint.

This was charming. Really brought me back to the early days of RvB. Back when the show relied almost entirely on it's charm and character interactions. Long before I ever got to work on it. Looking forward to where this goes!

I got this recommended to me the other day, and my sibling and I (who we've both been rewatching RVB for the 2nd time) decided to watch it together. We both loved this so much!! The music really hooked me in at the start, the writing style is great and makes the show feel nostalgic already, and I love all the characters so far haha. Looking forward to how this show will turn out :)

Nice to see something like this still being made today. Who wants to make a little game on how much these guys flag each other over the course of each episode?
My goodness, do NOT make a drinking game of this. Just in the first 6 or so minutes I counted like 18-20. First Crash flags Duke with his sniper rifle a bunch of times throughout the first bit of their conversation, then the minutes after there are SO many instances of Duke flagging Crash with his BR by pointing it at Crash, looking a little off to the side and then flagging him again.
A refreshingly enjoyable start, this reminds me of the Halo Machinima classics while maintain it's on unique identity. I also enjoy the simplicity of FIXER teams armor choices, no one stands out as too flash compared to the rest and the banter made me want to hear this crew talk to each other more in the future!
I wish I could go back to the prime of RvB... But I'll be honest... That shot of Crash, Duke and Target with the music setting in really made me feel like I was a kid again, just watching some losers in a dead-end base try to make do. It feels so good.
This looks like a beautiful series in the making.

Def my favorite character so far
For a first episode, this really does feel like this series can go places, all the characters have easily rememberable names and the start of colorful personalities that leave ground to expand upon. I personally love that all the characters have different customizations to better help differentiate between them than just armor color, mainly the use of weapons is a genius subtle storytelling, for instance, Duke having a Rocket launcher can tell us before he even mentions it that he's the kind of guy that likes explosions, but isn't dumb enough only rely on a weapon that has very limited ammo, so he carries around a battle rifle first. Same for Crash, the sniper rifle makes it clear that he prefers more recon and long distance, and the added dialogue that hes out of shape helps further that idea that he isn't much for constantly being on the move in missions. Target has a really smart load out as he's the new guy, so as the new guy he doesn't get any unique weapons, just the standard issue assualt rifle, and possibly has to prove himself as the new member of the team in order to possibly get his own unique weapon selection in the future.
