Baguru Manje Gowda, president, Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association, is expected to resign as an officer with the Transport Department, and plunge into the poll fray from #Holenarsipur constituency. An audio clip, which went viral on Monday, added credence to this speculation.
The audio file carries a phone conversation between two persons purported to be Manje Gowda and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The CM is reportedly heard asking Mr. Gowda to resign immediately and start working in Holenarsipur. Mr. Gowda is said to have been asked to contest against H.D. Revanna, JD(S) leader, in Holenarsipur on the #Congress ticket.
The CM, in the audio clip, is also heard asking a Congress worker to support Mr. Gowda adding that JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and his sons should not win anymore. In the clip, Mr. Gowda is heard telling the CM that he will soon meet him and tender his resignation. On the other hand, the CM also assures him that he would talk to the officer concerned to accept the resignation. It is not clear who leaked the clip. Congress leaders termed it concocted.
Minister for Sericulture #AManju, on Tuesday, said, “Nowadays, anybody’s voice can be mimicked and circulated.” Asked if Mr. Gowda was the party’s candidate for Holenarsipur, the Minister said, “I have no information on his candidature. So far he has not applied for the party’s ticket,” he said.
