      Honestly my favorite part a
      of the showcase. Came back just to rewatch it.
      Combining this with the 3 engines roaring by is almost frightening.

    When I was discharged from the Navy Hospital Corps, my first job was with the IC at East Dubuque depot in 1964. The train master was located in the Waterloo, Iowa yards.

    In the Chicagoland area we call the black IC SD70's "Death Stars". I still see these all the time when railfanning the J. Of course I see them all over Chicago, but I spend much of my time along the old J route in NW Indiana and west of there through Matteson.

    • @CVisionContributor
      @CVisionContributor Před 2 lety +3

      We agree with you on that. It was strange to see that IC/EJE six axle duo on the west end of the GBW. Had been mainly four axle territory for a long time.

    What purpose or connection did that west end of the GBW have to the CN network? A stack train on jointed rail super odd yet awesome!

    • @CVisionContributor
      @CVisionContributor Před 2 lety

      ejd715 For years after GBW was purchased, the west end interchange with the BN was used as it had been for decades. Due to shifting traffic patterns and interchange locations, East Winona was shut down as an interchange point. Before that west end was removed from service, stacks came off the BNSF at East Winona and Northtown, but the information we have now says that business comes over an all CN route through Canada and then down the DWP, DMIR, WC into Wisconsin.

    • @CVisionProductions1
      @CVisionProductions1  Před 2 lety +2

      No, there was a curve prior to the camera placement, and with the focal length zoomed in, it made it look as if we were in the middle. But rest assured, we weren't. We don't condone things like that.
