      @@thefoodisjazzy8633 Do 10 minute sessions 10 times - for a total of 100 minutes. Doesnt matter if you get those 10 sessions done in one day or one week, but the closer they are together the better it works. So completing all 10 in 1-3 days is best. 💕

    Absolutely PERFECT demo! This works with other birds too!! All my birds are rescued. Most recently is a cockatiel named Motzart. Hubby & I drove over 400+ miles round trip to adopt him & paid twice as much as a baby at a breeder. He was in the tiniest cage he could fit & terrified of everything (including millet & toys) it's a work I progress but this video is EXTREMELY educational for not only budgies, but ALL parrots. Slow & steady wins the race & is the most REWARDING experience any bird lover can have. New Subscriber!! God bless!

    I brought home a VERY skittish lovebird 2 days ago and apparently it was “Handraised” and “Handfed”, I just started using this technique earlier today and it’s.. Working I think. I put nice calming music on while the timer is ticking and I read, it’s handy because the cage is right next to my sister’s bed (she’s 4 and only sleeps in my parent’s room) and when I’m done reading and the timer goes off, I walk out of the room for a bit, then repeat. A few minutes ago I started step 2 and I’m just chilling on my phone while occasionally running my hand slowly across the bars of the cage about 2 feet away from the top perch (where he/she usually likes to stay) I hope this goes well, wish me luck!

  • @Dyiing
    @Dyiing Před 4 lety +3

    Thank you. So many videos on this just make it look "so easy" like all you have to do is put your hand in and they automatically love you.
    This says exactly what to do, and I can tell that it's been working. My girl was traumatised from people grabbing her, and she would fly from me if I was within 1 foot of her cage. Now she will eat next to me, and is opening up to eating millet from my hand. I hope it continues well.

    I came here to kinda learn afew basics... you see, i dont have a budgie yet and need a little bit of help. My parents are still 50/50 about the bird thing. Now, I'm going to sound spoiled, but hear me out. We have 3 chickens which was a gift from my parents for my twins and i birthday. I didnt do much research so i dont really know how to tame care of them and they don't trust me. We also have a cat and a dog. The cat is very well behaved and will listen to you and learn so im not too worried about him and the dog is low key scared of birds so he's not gonna wanna be near the bird which is ok because he doesnt really hang around the area that ill put my budgie if I get him. So the bird will be ok and the animals we have wont be afraid or anything of the bird. I'm 100% paying for everything about the bird and the budgie will be fully my responsibility to take care of which doesnt bother me because I want a budgie to be my little friend and give me a reason to get up in the morning. My parents just dont trust me, what can I do? I've helped around the house, fed my dog and cat, cooled meals, gotten good grades and finished all my chores on time everyday. Any other way I can gain their trust so I can get a little bundle of joy?

    • @emilybujor
      @emilybujor Před 4 lety +1

      Try making a big project like a PowerPoint with all your research to impress them and really show you’re ready for a budgie. You could also look around for jobs that ask you to take care of budgies for a week so your parents see how well you can handle them.

      Sit down, have a chat with them about the facts you know. Don't go like "I think I should get a budgie because..." maybe say "Did you know...` And show them the things you learned. After a while, start showing them youtube channels that inform you about birds, e.g, Alen AxP, BirdTricks, Marlene, etc. Then, show them photos of budgies, show them how inexpensive they are (Might persuade them a lot) and attempt to say things like "If I had a budgie I'd do this.." at random times or "If we got a budgie I'd feel..." or something like that. Whenever they're around watch bird videos to prove you really care and want a bird. Never ever complain, that can result in a definite no. Be resilient and be a good sport. If they tell you no, keep on watching bird videos around them and repeat the steps. If they say something like "You aren't getting a budgie, stop talking about this." say "I know, just sharing facts I found interesting!" Or something similar.
