  • I think you should stick with the Yamaha Pacifica 112V. It's the well priced guitar with tons of great features for you. I certainly loved playing it on this demo track, and I'm certain you'll love it just as much... Especially after I petition to change the laws, and make it mandatory for all guitarists to own one.
    Whether the 112v, or any of the other guitars in the Yamaha PAC line, they all delivery a great amount of quality. But be sure to switch out the bridge - that thing was about as useful as the spindly little arms on a giant, roaring Tyrannosaur.

    It's one of the best bang-for-buck guitars hands down. Always has been. I have a 112V and I still marvel at how well made it is. Especially for the price.

    I have one of these and I love it, a real versatile workhorse. I did find fault with mine though, E & B strings flat at the 10th fret which I actually compensated for by reshaping the crown profile. I replaced the tuners with cheap locking ones from China, fitted two Fender string trees, a Tusq nut and tuning is stable with the original trem. I also swapped the 3-wire bridge pickup for a 4-wire Kramer Alnico unit so I could rewire the push-pull tone pot to switch from series to parallel.
    Like the format, have subscribed and good luck to you with your channel.

    Hey bro which amp is best for this HSS guitar in your opinion ? I was looking at Vox Mini3 G2 . Please let me know

    • @nilesthrompton
      @nilesthrompton  Před rokem +1

      Oh yeah the G2 is a great modeling amp. For about the same money, you might consider this one which is also an awesome modeling amp www.amazon.ca/Yamaha-THR5-Electric-Guitar-Amplifier/dp/B007J0UWMU/ref=mp_s_a_1_31?crid=N6AGR4E4L6H4. If you can get a 5 watt tube amp for a good price go for it - Alnico pickups really shine with tube amp... Try to find an epi valve junior or a 5 watt stage right amp as those are not too much money and drive big volume.

    Inarguably one of the most versatile and best value Strat style guitars in the market today. I'm a fan and own two 112Vs of four Pacificas including a 612V and 311H. Having said that, best value true Strat goes to SX with their Vintage series SST57+. Ceramic SSS with a 50s neck profile, 9.5" radius fretboard, vintage Kluson style replica tuners and classic tremolo bridge. As well built as the 112V Pacifica at under half its price. Think Squier Classic Vibe clone but with ceramics instead of alnicos.

      It's not a custom shop axe. If you got a noisy amp and want the guitar tweaked by all means go for it. All you can do is improve your axe.
      I would address the fix if it was warranted but I use mine for studio recording and seems okay to me. 😅

    I have had five Stratocaster‘s, never bonded with any of them. I’ve had three Yamaha Pacifica‘s. I don’t have one now because I keep flipping them and upgrading 012, 112, 312, now I’m looking for a 611 Pacifica with the humbucker and p90.. I am not looking for another strat..

    • @nilesthrompton
      @nilesthrompton  Před rokem +1

      The 611 is a really nice guitar for sure, especially with the hard tail bridge. You might just be able to find a p90 pickguard, if you had a 112v, and convert that... Though you wouldn't get the hard tail if you did that.

      I block the bridge from rocking on all my vibrato guitars.
      One of my favorite Guitars is the Yamaha AES 800. I’ve had mine since around 2000. It was just under $1000 new, string through, two I think Seymour Duncans.. five way Strat style Selector switch unusual feature, three pots, The third pot is phase blend.. i’ve seen photos of Sammy Hagar playing the AES 800 on stage..
      I bought it used with upgraded locking.. Grovers.. The guy I bought it from emailed me years later asking if I would sell it back to him..
      this guitar has the widest variety of tones any of my guitars they also made the same guitar with humbuckers the aes 500 that was hundreds less..
      You probably already know that Yamaha is the largest musical instrument manufacturer in the entire world

    • @nilesthrompton
      @nilesthrompton  Před rokem

      @jody fresnack Oh yes, the AES 800 is a superior guitar! Definitely hang onto that one as its one of the better guitars they produced! I previously had a 311s, which was great tele style guitar... The 1611 is apparently amazing, but it's around 3500 dollars!!

    Please someone tell i should get an ibanezrg421 mol or yamaha 212(same as 112vm)
    I like to play everything from country to metal

    • @nilesthrompton
      @nilesthrompton  Před rokem +1

      You really need to try out both - the Yamaha fretboard radius is around 13 (mine was actually closer to a 12) so it's more of a general neck if you like versatility. I had an RG421 and the fretboard Is a wide, flat radius - like 15.5. The RG wizard neck profile is definitely way flatter and faster - but if you don't like wide necks and string spacing, the yamaha may be better. If you're looking for a guitar well suited to metal, the Ibanez pickups will be hotter... The yamaha pickups are a lot lighter on output, but it's more versatile if you want a bunch of different styles.

      Tuners were actually not bad. If I were to replace them with anything it would likely be a set of Fender locking tuners. Ping also makes nice pegged tuners with a good gear ratio.
