i had a very similar sound in mine. there was no oil getting to the top end. check the oil line going to the back of the cam for oil. i found the plastic gear on the oil pump was broken. i had to replace it along with the cam and lifters.
Mine was taking like that had to replace the Rockers and a valve adjustment then I took the clutch cover off and noticed the screen go into the old pump was clogged dirty after that no more problems
Was the rockers worn or did you just change it trying to fix it before you found out the filter cause mine is doing it and I found the screen clogged with rtv the previous owner put on did your oil lines get clogged if so how did you clean them out
Without knowing you just help me out thank you I had the same problem with mine once I put it in gear it stopped do you have to replace the whole centrifugal clutch

Check for the right spark plug. Mine was to long. Changed it out then sounds fine

i think i figured mine out it has piston slap

I just picked up one of these and it’s doing the same thing
i had other things to work on. i haven't found noise
i think piston wrist pin loose.
i dont know if you figured yours out but mine has piston slap making that noise
Mine was Centrifugal clutch, put it in gear. If it stops then you know.
