Arthur..all the gyros are very sophisticated and getting BIGGER and FASTER. Number 5 " XENON" is the top of my pick with all the "fancy flips"...it was also controlled with the engine switched off as it made its approach to land. Thanks for sharing
Actually, they all can do that. It's a standard feature of Gyroplanes, it's called Autorotation FYI.
actually Wallis was flying faster than these guys in the 1960's they are bigger and heavier not faster. not better. Here's Wallis machine in the 1960's anyone seen a modern gyro take off and climb out like this, land without using hands even? czcams.com/video/SdviLqBDuKA/video.html

All great looking - Enclosed would be a better choice here in the Boston area. Floats would be a cool option - There are many lakes & ponds & seaplanes where I live.

Great video !! Like many, I’ve spent hours going from video to video, making mental comparisons. This puts them together. I keep waiting for a side-by-side comparison chart, comparing everything from rop speed, interior space, options etc. Now, if the FAA would just get with the rest of the world..

Rotorvox is definitely the most luxurious looking from an amateurs’ view point. But also looks to be the most expensive. $160,000 US as of 2018? Yikes! Would LOVE TO TAKE A TEST RIDE ONE DAY. This is a retirement goal of mine. I haven’t completely figured out how to get there so far. I might just have to try.

I don't know why we don't see more of these Gyrocopters flying, especially the medevac type. I have always loved Gyrocopters since my dad showed me one.

Where I live, in South Africa we have about 400 gyros and many thousands in Europe and America flying

I live on an island and interested in a vehicle for island hopping. Nearest island is 98 miles away. Are Gyro copters suitable for flying over large bodies of water?

The Gyro is as suitable as much as, any single engine airplane to cross water.
The Gyro and any single engine airplane needs to be equipped with floating devices for each passenger and an emergency transmitter.
However generally the rule is never fly over open water unless you can glide to a place you can land.
In your case, it would be the best to buy a Gyro with floats and wheels than you can land anywhere.
These machines are really cool!! The completely open gyros the ones that have no body pannels what so ever always seemed a lil sketchy to me. These are really cool tho! If anyone can answer this I am wondering what the benefits of these compared to a normal fixed wing plane is? It seems like u could toss these around a bit more in the air but I'm just wondering if anyone could fill me in on some of the benefits or if it's just cooler to fly!!

The gyro is the safest aircraft ever invented, it does not stall and spin and is hardly affected by wind and turbulence. The gyro does not loos control at any airspeed.
The gyro is always in auto rotation and can be landed even with no engine running practically with no forwards speed in a very small spot.
All those cannot be said from a fixed wing aircraft
@@ArthurGemperle ok that for a lot of people with a fear of flying would help them out a lot to actually consider flying as an option of travel I would imagine in the future. A standard helo if it lost its tail rudder it would spin out of control from the torque, fix wing planes can glide but if they slow down to much it will stall and fall, these gyros basically cover all of those issues and they have heated seats!! What more can you ask for!! LoL I have seen in some videos of these taking off and it looks as if it was over weight at first glance when they pop the front wheel up just before they get air born, but is that on purpose to get more lift generated by tilting the craft and spinning the rotor blades more? I'm sorry for long comments and questions. These aircrafts are so awesome I can't help it!! Thanx for replying to my first comment, appreciate that.

It's not an "MTO Calidus," and it's not an "MTO Cavalon." It's an *AutoGyro* Calidus and an *AutoGyro* Cavalon. The Calidus, the Cavalon, and the MTOsport are three different models made by AutoGyro, GmbH. The MTOsport is an open gyroplane, and the Calidus and Cavalon are enclosed gyroplanes.
I really would have enjoyed this bunch of clips, but you managed to ruin it with your crappy music selection. Here’s a tip. Next time, no music, let us hear what the machines sound like, and what the pilots are trying to say! If someone else added it, edit it out before posting. Terrible!

Interestingly all Gyros use the Rotax engine 914 turbo with 115hp. Performance of all Gyros are similar with about 180 till 200km top speed. Cost from Euro 70 000 - 150 000

How does the Rotar creat lift without power.

The engine provides thrust, forward speed and therefore airflow to the Gyros rotor. The airflow going through the rotor system will turn the rotor like a wind mill (auto-rotation) .The turning rotor creates the lift.
The whole thing is not possible to explain in 2 sentence, but trust me it does work

Where is the Sportcopter series?!!!
Probably because the number of FULLY enclosed Sportscopers flying are next to non-existent. Most Sportcopters are using the old funky enclosure from "back in the day" when Chuck Vanek (the "Father" of Sportcopter) was still around.
@@phillipzx3754 Thanks for the reply. Point taken. The Sportcopter 2, though, it pretty modern and quite capable, albiet uniquely designed. The unfortunate thing about it is that it is pricey. I like it, though, as it is very robust. I am considering it for backcountry use in British Columbia, Canada. The other offerings from them seem to be extremely popular in Australia for herding sheep and cattle. They have come out with a new side-by-side small gyroplane for the same mission. What has attracted me to Sportcopter is the very well thought out and designed mast and rotor assembly. It has proven very reliable and since it is the one extremely critical item on any gyroplane, seems the one thing one would want very well-designed and tested. Food for though, anyway.

The xenon is not aerobatic lol you need a sportcopter for aerobatics in the gyro world, by far the best gyro you can buy mate.
You mean you need to be Jim Vanek. :-) I've yet to see anyone do much of any aerobatic maneuver in a Sportcopter other than Jim (I live 20 minutes from their shop). I still think he was nuts for even taking the chance considering he was married to a GORGEOUS lady and had (at the time) a couple young kids to raise.

I do apologize for the music. If I would have replaced the existing music on the original clips I would have lost all engine sound. You know the music is a matter of tast and in your case, do you know there is a mut bottom and you coud have enjoyed the full video. Ha ha, ha

I do agree to a point, however music is a matter of tast. In this case the music is on the original video clip. If I remove the music, the sound of the Gyrocopter are also gone
