find what transistor is overheating on your motherboard and put a fan over it. the transistor is current limiting lowering your clock. it won't show up as anything in benchmarks or overheating or anything. i have solved this issue with multiple boards already.@@ysnyldrm73

@@Augmented_Realism This is not the worst case scenario, not even close! Even the first rat rush is worse than this area. I have finished the game with i5 6600. There are places that you'll see much much more rats, npcs. Also stutters are heavy if you are cpu bound, this is not a ideal cpu for this game. And fsr2 wont help if you are cpu bound.

Any of those Intel 3rd Gen to 8th Gen client level processors can develop thermal issues over time, as the Thermal Paste between the IHS and CPU die degrades. This happens from heavy use, though. What the tell-tell sign is, there will be one core that is running 10c hotter than the others. I've delidded a number of these processors and I've come across this issue at least twice already. The paste hardens up, then thermal cycling causes the bond between the IHS and paste to separate. It's an easy fix with a delidding tool and good paste. I haven't broken one yet.
