Lyrics:
Did you ever have to make up your mind?
Pick up on one and leave the other one behind
It's not often easy, and not often kind
Did you ever have to make up your mind?
Did you ever have to finally decide?
Say yes to one and let the other one ride
There's so many changes, and tears you must hide
Did you ever have to finally decide?
Sometimes there's one with deep blue eyes, cute as a bunny
With hair down to here, and plenty of money
And just when you think she's that one in the world
Your heart gets stolen by some mousy little girl
And then you know you better make up your mind
Pick up on one and leave the other one behind
It's not often easy, and not often kind
Did you ever have to make up your mind?
Sometimes you really dig a girl the moment you kiss her
And then you get distracted by her older sister
When in walks her father and takes you in line
And says "Better go home, son, and make up your mind"
Then you bet you'd better finally decide!
And say yes to one and let the other one ride
There's so many changes, and tears you must hide
Did you ever have to finally decide?

Happy 80th birthday John Sebastian!!!
The innocent sweet music of my youth. Oh happy long gone days. Tears.
Today: music starts mean: PYRO GAMING.
What memories from childhood! Anything from The Spoonful!
I love the Lovin Spoonful.
still to this day this is a great song.
This is actually one of my favorite Lovin' Spoonful songs.
It's my personal favorite song of theirs. A song about a dilemma us guys will be faced with at one time or another till the end of time.
One of my favorites too.
I like this one, but you can have a good time with You're a Big Boy Now
Actually, I didn´t notice this particular song by Lovin' Spoonful, back in the sixties. But nowadays I really appreciate the song with its great harmonies, beat, and lyrics. Wonderful song!
They really were great.
Sebastian wrote so many great songs & this is one fine example.
Countless phenomenal tunes! He's a genius.
@@milestrotter6844 He is one of the greatest ! Nashville cats-Summer in the city-Did you ever have to make up your mind-Daydream-
The loving spoonful a great group was back in 1966,year I was born 💙
I was playing this song one day and my son heard it. He laughed so hard that it instantly became his favorite "moldy oldie." LOL
For those wondering, the musicians are lead vocalist-guitarist-autoharpist-harmonica player John Sebastian, lead guitarist Zal Yanovsky, electric bassist Steve Boone, and drummer Joe Butler.
wonder who played that organ I hear
@@oldermusiclover I believe it's Zal with the tone knob on his guitar rolled back and a tremolo effect
@@aidenemerson8545 thanks
This song cracks me up. I lived with my girlfriends sister for almost 2 years. I have spent the night at their mother’s house with both of them. Their mother told me once that she loved me, please pick one, and leave the other one alone
One of the great bands of all time. John Sebastian's live performances are still a joy to see.
John Sebastian is so underrated.
I know right? He's the best!
@@naput06 And Sebastian, IMO, ranks alongside composers like Goffin and King, Lennon-McCartney
@@ivanmay7890 And Brian Wilson
I wish this song was a minute longer! Love the circus background thing going on!!
yes, this song is TOO SHORT. Just gotta play it again!
I am a big, big, BIG fan of outros and codas, but this is one of those songs that ends so perfectly I'm not even sad it's over. It makes great use of 2 minutes. Pure perfection. This, and Daydream are my favorites by them.
Do You Belive In Magic and this are my faves
@matt hintz - another one like that is Procol Harem's "Whter Shade of Pale", except it has the dumbest ending I've ever heard.
One of the best Lovin Spoonful tunes.
Agreed what a phenomenal song! I am 15 and this is my favorite band. I have a portion of their records, but I am accumulating. This is definitely one of their better songs, but in my opinion She Still A Mystery is one of their best songs out of their entire catalog, what a spectacular song.
CZcams needs a love button. This 2 day earworm I've been humming and mumbling turned into a Lovin Spoonful binge; now a playlist.
Love the Lovin Spoonful to this day. Great quarantine song that makes me feel there is hope. 😷
This song is so relaxing
This song just popped in my mind.
Another "Spoonful" Classic!!...again I had to start with "Do You Believe in Magic"...then.."Summer in the City"...then "Nashville Cats"....
listened to this every day in '67-no I didn't-have to make up my mind-I wish
I love this song! Ah, life…❤❤❤❤
Love this song.......so befitting for today's times. A classic...
My 2nd concert - saw them with Simon & Garfunkel in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena! John's dad was a classical harmonica player!
You lucky son of a gun! I wish I had a chance to see a live concert of theirs! They're such a spectacular band! Hopefully one day, after all this chaos. Ya johns dad was a master!
Sebastian was in quite the demand as a session harmonica player. He laid down the harp on Roadhouse Blues by The Doors.
We had an audio cassette tape of these guys in the early 90s. I was only about 7 at the time, but I instantly loved their music. I still enjoy it today!
Rings True Today
this song was referenced in my school's economic book called "exploring economics" on a lesson about choices, and I just had to look it up. I now love this song!
Great song!!!!
loved this group since i was 18 and bought their first album, and then went on and bought all the rest, for me the greatest band EVER
Yep, it is a great band. The music back, then was wonderful young people today have no idea is a great music we live through.
This song went to number 2 on the billboard hot-100 chart in 1966.
Lol. Great song. Memories.
Its 2020 ... and this song is still rock'n!
2021 and this lyric is in my head

I’ve been trying to decide about something, totally unrelated to romance… But this song came to mind so I had to look it up again!
This song sounds like the opening credits to a comedy film.
These guys were great I was a bad 16 the first time I ever heard them and just like the Beatles and the eagles and of course the loving spoonful were in my tart music that I love the best and I prefer soft rock I love soft rock it’s so cool I am a guitarist and I love playing soft rock thanks for these videos they bring back a lot of great old memories and I love this band 👍🏼👍🏼🎸😎🎼🎶☮️😀
Snappy tune :) ... and so true so true
I used to listen to this great tune on radio station WRIE AM 1330 here in Erie, Pennsylvania.
# 2 in the spring of 1966-Great song!
Do you believe in magic's their best! Hands Down!
Daydream, Nashville Cats, This Song, My Darling be home soon, Summer in the City. All fantastic too. IMO 🙃👍🔥🕊️💟
No.2 back in June 1966, America's No.57 of 1966 for New York's Lovin' Spoonful.
Its still hard to make up my mind.
Great Song!!!!!
Dit liedje brengt me weer terug in warme junimaand van 1966.😢
My Favorite Song😍😊
Mad About You brought me here.
Well, like Yogi says: "When you see the fork in the road, take it!"
You can literally smell the weed off that album cover.
Ha!
Oh yeah😂
@Not Another Minute When you are .... never mind.
When you are makingggg .... never mind.
Hell yeah
I would sing this to a coworker when she would take a very long time to make a decision at work!
husband and I were just laughing about the words, singing it - can't have both. Ha ha
so wholesome Pure Gold
Happy music.
Thnx for posting this song and allowing remix. It is perfect for this summer!
Zal was such an overlooked guitarist
Estos chicos sabían hacer grandes armonías 💪👏👏👏
I liked it! So cute! 😍❤
Ya, in my dreams, too cold and distant.
Yes
Great song.
This is a great group , so many cool toons and harmonized great !

I LOVE this song
I used to think the line went, "When in walks her father, and takes you A RIDE," which conjures up the amusing image of John being driven home by the father. Now I learn it's "takes you IN LINE," an expression I've never heard. Is it in common use in America, and what does it mean?
This actually pertains to my situation
My wife was immersed in The Bachelor finale this week, with so much bogus drama about this girl or that one. I just HAD to find this cute ditty online and play it for her.
Lol. This always reminds me of a girl I dated in college. She was damn cute, but her older sister was incredible.
This song is *Fire*
This reminds me of swimming at the public pool before they close them down🙁
Mitchell!
Have you?????😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
I can imagine young people from the 1960s just graduating from college and high school listening to this.
I'm one
Me: imagine burning peoples with this music.
I don't have to imagine. Thank you very much.
It was a great time to be alive. In fact, it's probably always a great time to be alive. Great music makes the times even better.
I😅was in ninth grade. Love this song.❤
I made a choice like this two years ago, and I made the right choice! Funny how I saw this online almost two years to the day!
MITCHELL!!
Sheesh. 3 job offers in less than 24 hours... this song is going through my mind :)
I had to this too much for a few yes there when young..it was harsh ,,I felt bad but didn't know what to do..
Ain't your soul mate little boy.
It is 3 am Jan 2022 I am listening to The Loving Spoonful After almost 2 years of all this covid BS it is a relief to go back to a more pleasant time AHH the good memories
One of the better hits from the "bubblegum" genre.
I had this album
CHOICES, CHOICES. THE LOVIN’ SPOONFUL REALLY ASKED A GOOD QUESTION: DID YOU EVER HAVE TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND? Let me hear this one MR. SEBASTIAN. Kenneth Huang. 6/12/24.
Just sent this to my son who is struggling with three girlfriends whom all love him lol
Watch out..Many of these girls today are setting up males whom they believe will be financially successful. One almost took advantage of my son a couple years ago.
@@soulvaccination8679 Yeah. Something completely new ....
Tell him to try to play his cards correctly or you can finish up with no-one!!Have been there, with Two, not Three.lol.I wish him luck.

Love The Loving Spoonful ❤💕😍 I think that my favorite song is What A Day For A Daydream 💞 I am a Daydreamer still 💥☮💖🇺🇸🌞😎😊😉😜🙃
How many have truly had to make up their mind?
💃
... Do these guys ever truly represent the 1970s music!!! ...
This song defines male addolesence
Also a good song for baseball pitching changes, and NFL replays.
This song is so weird. A good kind of weird
Someone dedicated this to LOVE SONGS ON THE COAST and I don't really care to evaluate the inventory of comments to find it.
Stoned people can never make up their mind.
Untrue
Tim Ring ??$)bb b G. Hi
Ha! The many times. Anyone says 'no' are too proud and young or they will never get it!
us stoners get distracted too easy and get too into whatever it is
I can, I'm making my mind up to smoke two joints!.
This song will always remind me of 90210 where Dylan had to choose between the blonde and the brunette
I hear this song and immediately think of Alan Shepard in “from the earth to the moon“ sitting in his car only for his ears to start ringing again, then begrudgingly getting out and trading places with his wife
This song is so groovy baby flower power peace
I should be so lucky...
mousy yourselves!
This song was in a commercial for Pepsi
