  • A visual comparison between Micro Suspension Scooter Bronze and Oxelo Town 7 XL kick scooter (older model) from Decathlon.
    I've bought the Micro Suspension Scooter to replace my old Oxelo Town 7 XL which is still the best kick scooter that I've got for commuting on uneven road surfaces.
    Micro offers a combination of both front and back suspension which is very useful in the most urban areas.
    The shock absorbers of the Oxelo scooter aren't as good as they used to be and they always were pretty noisy (now more than ever).
    When riding any of the two scooters they feel smooth and I haven't really noticed a big difference between them in accelerating or riding them by carving. The effort is almost the same. I would say that Micro Suspension has a better rolling efficiency (is able of covering a longer glide distance per push), but I'm not really sure.
    Both of them are hard to fold and unfold. In particular, when folding/ unfolding the handlebars of the Oxelo scooter (Micro's handlebars are not foldable) your hands always get dirty when touching the metal parts.
    And the handlebar grips of the Micro scooter are the worst. They simply don't stay in place.
    When I assembled the Micro scooter one of the plug ends of the handlebar has fallen. Both plug ends should've been connected to each other with an elastic string, but the manufacturer forgot to connect one of the ends, so I had to do it myself. (At the time when I published the video with the unboxing and assembly of the scooter I wasn't aware about this situation.)
    The scooter from Decathlon came with a carrying strap, but you can carry it with one of your hands without any problem. The Micro scooter doesn't even have the option to attach a carrying strap. Their shoulder strap is not compatible with this scooter. And what's worse, holding the Micro scooter at the balance point with your hand is not something that you can do without hurting your hand...
    This was the first test of my new scooter and I can't say (yet) which scooter is better and this says a lot, I guess. Paying the difference for the Micro Suspension may not be the best thing to do...
    The new model of Decathlon's Town 7 XL could be even better, but I've only tested it at Decathlon, not on roads, so I can't say if it is a better choice.

    I have had the Town9s, and Commuter one that is same as Town 9 but cool colours but my favourite is my Micro classic, it’s tough but lighter and smoother, quieter ride and feels less likely to tip forward in the event of HUGE TWIG in the way 😀 it has softer wheels and a surprisingly good rear brake and the handlebars are narrow and fold smaller so it can go anywhere 😊 use a pneumatic wheel on the front and no need for suspension.

    How has the Micro held up for you after you got it? I got a Micro Classic about 7 months ago and it was great for the first 6 months but then the front wheel started to loosen from the handlebars and by this point I can't ride the scooter for more than 5 minutes without the front wheel becoming un-aligned. I'm thinking of getting a Micro suspension scooter to replace it but I don't want to spend $225 for a scooter that doesn't even last a year. Has your suspension scooter been durable enough?

    • @bogdandebuzau
      @bogdandebuzau  Před 9 měsíci +1

      It is still all right, but not the only scooter that I ride. Compared to my other scooters, this is probably the best: I've experienced no problems with its functionality, yet, it is still looking almost new, but it's way noisier...

    Nice video! Which scooter do you prefer? I can’t decide what to get. Easy to ride, durable and less bumpy, would be preferable. Not concerned about folding…

    • @bogdandebuzau
      @bogdandebuzau  Před 3 lety +7

      Both of them are easy to ride. Micro for a little better quality (durability, suspension). Oxelo for a lower price and more stability - the angle between the deck and the T-bar is less than 90°, so the handlebars are a little closer to you. For Miro Suspension this angle is almost a right angle. Encountering a small obstacle on the road may end in a fall over the handlbars (there are more chances to).

    Please do You know what those squeaky sounds on the Oxelo are? I experience same on my Spartan kick scooter. Seems to me like the rubber comes off the wheel itself - just wonder if that can be repaired somehow..

    • @bogdandebuzau
      @bogdandebuzau  Před 2 lety +2

      In the case of Oxelo the noise doesn't come from the wheels, but from the poor design of the frame and its assembling parts... The wheels are actually very good. But I've experienced the same problem with the "rubber" of other wheel manufacturers. Globber make the worst wheels that I know. The only solution in my case was to replace them with new ones...

    Can you replace the tires with pneumatic tires tires for wet/winter riding?

    • @bogdandebuzau
      @bogdandebuzau  Před 2 lety +2

      For the Micro scooter there are wheels with pneumatic tires that can replace the regular wheels. But usually people who bought this scooter with pneumatic tires want the regular ones. The rolling resistance of a kick scooter with pneumatic tires is very high. If you want pneumatic tires, then go for the Razor Air scooter which doesn't have suspensions to absorb a part of the energy and has a lower deck which reduces your physical effort. The low deck is the only functional solution to deal with pneumatic tires, because no matter how much you inflate the tires, you will have to push more frequently. When I ride my Razor 5 Air I inflate the tires at 70 PSI (the maximum allowed pressure is 60 or 65 PSI, I don't remember exactly), otherwise it's worse than walking, considering the physical effort.

    Hello. It is me again. Thank you for answering me about Globber scooter. I have same opinions with you about the Handle bar and designs. Micro scooters have higher quality. but the dont like to sponge handles. Also the folding and unfolding the Handle bars, is that so necessary? the clicking mechanism will get loose sometime later. Therefore i was looking for handle bar like Globber ONE K 180. Straight robust one piece Handle with the non adjustable stem (it looks so cool). Because of Pandemic, most product are sold out, and there could be a new wave coming. from your viedos and comments from internet, i ve learned Globber scooter has wheels problems and also the hand brake. And there is no retailer in berlin..(I think). If there is any problem, i cannot ask for help or return..The folding mechanism of Micro is so inconvenience, even they use very strong thick material. Last but not least, Decathlon's Town 7/9 they have shops in here and they have fairy folding mechanism. Maybe i will buy the new Town 7EF (even it is made in china). Do you have any suggestion?

    • @bogdandebuzau
      @bogdandebuzau  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi. That's true. Globber scooters have issues with the wheels. I would go with the Town 9EF v2 (not the first version): pretty easy to fold/ unfold, double suspension of good quality, large deck (which is also low enough), better design for the handlebar (including the folding system which is not really necessary to use) and better support. But it's pretty noisy compared to Micro scooters and when folding it you have to adjust the handlebar height to the lowest position compared to the Globber which allows keeping the height of the handlebar in any position when folding/ unfolding the scooter.

      @btkoala Před 2 lety

      @@bogdandebuzau About noisiness of Town 9ef you have mentioned, is it because of the suspension?

    • @bogdandebuzau
      @bogdandebuzau  Před 2 lety

      @@btkoala No. It's the folding mechanism that becomes noisy. But it's less noisy than the Globber's. ;)

    • @bogdandebuzau
      @bogdandebuzau  Před 2 lety +4

      I've got the first version of 9EF and you can hear its vibrations from a long distance... The other two are all right. Both of them deal well even with the cracks in the asphalt, but they're not perfectly silent when the surface is not smooth. Oxelo is a little noisy in more situations than the Micro scooter, but you don't really feel the vibrations with any of them.

    • @bogdandebuzau
      @bogdandebuzau  Před 2 lety +1

      @@albertorossetti7959 I don't know. Probably you will like the flexible deck. I know somebody who loves the sensation produced by the flex version while riding it. And theoretically it should be a little faster, because the suspensions absorb a little more energy. And also with a lower deck you will feel more comfortable. But the flexible deck won't be as effective as a scooter with double suspension in case you need better amortization. Another problem is that if you're too heavy or abuse the deck (for example, by jumping over obstacles or carrying something too heavy) the deck may break. There are riders who complained about the poor resistance of the deck.

    Mr. Bogdan Popescu? Would you teach me how to scoot? I bought a scooter last November 2019 until now I couldn't use it because I didn't know how to balance.

    • @bogdandebuzau
      @bogdandebuzau  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi. If your scooter came with training wheels, then you should use them for a while. Or maybe you can find a scooter with two wheels on the front and one back wheel to safely improve your balance and coordination before switching to a regular two-wheeled scooter. Or you can just practice for at least a few minutes every day on your scooter remembering that speed is your friend and always being prepared to fall on your feet on any side or both sides. A good preliminary exercise for beginners is practicing static balance with both feet on the deck and both hands on the handlebars for as many seconds as you can. You may ask somebody you trust to help you with that, if you need. Also keep in mind that practice is everything and trust yourself. Good luck!
