God, stories like this kind of hurt to listen to when you know people that have spiraled into a mental illness. It's bad enough to watch helplessly without knowing what they're going through, but having it depicted and / or explained to you is an all new kind of upsetting.
Edit, 4 years later: wow i really was in denial about my own spiraling mental health huh? I've never been well, I wasn't doing well when I made this comment, and I'm doing even worse now :")

I have had suffered mental Illness pretty much since birth from Being Bi Polar, to having OCD which I pretty much self cured that illness as it can be done with age learning to control not and there are no reasons to do the rituals but prison cured me of OCD I know I'd get killed or worse if I kept people up all night doing crazy rituals lol But thank God I was always here on this planet mentally, one time I didn't leave the house for a year my first breakup almost killed me with depression I lost 50 lbs and wasn't heavy to being with, years of insomnia Witch I now take Ativan, Ambian and Tynoal Pms as well as my friends blood pressure meds etc it's not easy

I battle it every single day at every moment. I am bipolar with severe depression with anxiety/panic attacks with ocds I am a product of heavy alcoholism with reading comprehension and math problems. I was abused my childhood, dealt with a lot of death especially at 17 years old losing the love of my life when he fell off (Wikipedia he is mentioned 8/1/93) a cliff/waterfall at T Lake Falls in the Adirondack Mountains, NY. I have severe paranoia and I see and hear things daily. I didn’t ask to be born this way. I don’t know what I did to deserve it. I also isolate and ruminate bad intrusive thoughts. I’ve also got ptsd from many years of abuse and neglect. I also have dissociative personality disorder. And many other defects. I’m damaged.

Marcus's hallucinations (especially the one in the hall by the bathroom) are mostly inspired by my own nighttime paranoia and daydreams I get when I zone out throughout the day. And as far as schizophrenia is concerned if I have experienced it I either haven't been diagnosed or I've never really noticed. Though I guess that doesn't say much, does it? Heh.

A very interesting view on mental illness, it was clear the author was bringing to light the literal nightmares of those who suffer from hallucinations and/or phobias. While I did enjoy this creepypasta I felt that Marcus should of had less episodes because it felt like at many points the author was just trying to shove in as much terrifying imagery and horror ridden vocabulary as possible.

It was truly one of the most disturbing things I've witnessed. I couldn't see him because I was in a different section where my team of on the phone supervisors sit. But the screaming was so heartbreaking and also horrific. It sounded like someone bring murdered. He was shrieking help me over and over. It was so bad they actually let us all off of the phones because people were so shaken. Of course, all his coworkers helped and EMS was there within 5 minutes. He ended up thankfully being okay.

Its not like I'm crazy, I'm not claiming that. Just that I'm awkward and only have a small group of friends whom I feel are only still around out of pity. And then here comes this man who seems to have walked out of a chick flick, does and says everything perfect, and gives me everything ive ever wanted in a man. So, you see why I'd worry....

no but seriously guys. this reminds me of my own experience as a kid where i would always see like shadow something in my dreams for weeks and i would always wake up sweaty and shaky. i remember it was really scary and it would affected me even after i wake up. i always felt like the shadow or something was watching me and i was continuously anxious. a sort of dissociative feeling where obviously other people can't even feel what i felt. it continued for like a week. i was like 5 or 6 at the time. before it ends i had an intense dream and woke up drenched in sweat.
for details, i did grow up having anxiety and few other disorder but i still can't understand what that was all about.

*_I lived in a home like this for 9 years, from 5 to 14 years of age. Family of 7.. The thing was we all went through it. What WAS crazy is our different memories of our childhood. I remember the lady as been really mean to me but my sisters say she was always nice to them. The bearded man never spoke & between us we maybe only saw him a few times but it was always a warm feeling. Something EXTREMELY dark lived there too but never came up from the back of the house, the older part. Or would only bother us when we went back there so the bearded man would appear & all would feel ok..My oldest brothers room was back there. We're not crazy but we just dont talk about it outside the family. When we moved it all ended. It wasn't bad, it was normal i taught. The older kids seem to remember it worse than me_*

Holy shit. Finally, a creepy pasta that was actually well written. I was expecting the ending to be something along the line of "and I saw this creature with long needles for hands and bleeding eyes. Pitch black holes staring into my soul. And then I managed to run away from it and survived. " But no, this was actually really good. Good job to you for narrating it an interesting and entertaining way and good job to the author, this was amazing. Well worth the hour.

My mother is a bi-polar, manic depressive with paranoid schizophrenia personality disorder with ADD. So yes mental illness, of any kind sucks. Even just having PTSD with anxiety ADHD, with slight anger issues (I have been working on my whole life) I am the nicest person in the world and have quite the patience until I just kind can't keep ignoring or working thru the ignorance of incompetence in the work place. But yes mental health illnesses are f***ed
