  • Our journey north on the Dempster Highway was stopped short when we ran into some trouble along the way... these Australian explorers were lucky their truck didn't roll into the tundra swamp! It's going to take some ingenuity to extract this Ram 1 ton pickup..

Hi guys, my brother and I meet up with you at expo west. I have many years of experience in heavy duty recovery, and just from the video points of view, I would say you did an outstanding job. You were dealing with a whole slew of different obstacles, from sucking mud, to off camber angled pull, to very top-heavy vehicle. The other thing you did right was pull him out the way he went in. I have seen many cases where someone would try to pull out forward in that situation, and things went from bad to worse. But the best thing I saw was that you guys took the time to assess the whole situation, and plan out your recovery. Outstanding!

Great post. I started watching LJMJ about 2 years ago and other sites. Ran into yours' and the one thing that always sticks out, is how you get to spend the day with your family. I'm sure there are challenges like anything else, but what amazes me is how kids seem to acclimate/adjust to being in a car for long periods, and camping every day. For me, it would be a childhood dream...bless your lucky stars.

I drove from Edmonton, AB, Canada to Tok, Fairbanks, etc all the way up to Prudhoe Bay, then back to Dawson, ( and Eagle and Chicken ), then up to Inuvik, and Tuktoyaktuk, then back to Edmonton, in a rented Ford Explorer. No punctures, no issues at all except Moose running across road. At Prudhoe the bears were a menace. But otherwise the entire trip was unreal....And I am an Aussie from Sydney. We camped in places, and also on side of the road. The Dempster is so amazing!!!!. We actually ran out of gas on the Inuvik road...... Some guy in his RV took me back to Dawson to get gas......

I was traveling by VW - Van alone in the deep winter time across Canada from the West Coast to the East Coast up to Alaska and back to Vancouver 31 year's ago alone. I was helping a car driver with his wife out of the snow up north from Whistler Mountain (BC). I had a great time all the way and now problems with my old 1968 VW - Buli! I love it that easy way to travel. I was before three times traveling across the USA at different parts that was a great experience.

If it hasn't been said enough, your cinematography is outstanding. By watching your video's, I'm planning my first post retirement trip up the Dempster. Keep them coming!!

Love your videos. I watched you guys a while back through new Mexico and Colorado. Thanks for this Alaska series. I’m headed up north to Tuk and Alaska with my buddy this summer. Your videos are allowing me to check off gear and ensure we are prepared. Doing it in an FJ with a RTT and no trailer. Your rig is well set up. Thanks.

You should really make that trip to Scotland lol Where you were really does look like the north of Scotland, especially the weather. I have been watching your channel for a while and your daughter will remember this trip for the rest of her life, no better education. I run a charity in the UK helping veterans who suffer from PTSD and we use overlanding as a way of helping them. Last year we built 4 Land Rovers and we then drove them from the UK to Greece and back with a group of veterans who suffer. Give us a watch on Veterans Expeditions Overland we have just started our channel so I am sure your support would help us grow.

Just came across your channel. Pure content, presented exactly how I wanted it. I can't guess why the video got few dislikes. The video, music and narration are in the proper proportion. It must be more popular than this.
