Jen Sper, Choral Music Specialist at Stanton’s Sheet Music, presents “Ili, Ili, Tulog Anay” arr. Victor C. Johnson, SSA #CGE21 at the Stanton’s Free Holiday Choral Reading Session on October 10, 2015.
Victor's lovely setting of this charming lullaby from the Panay Island in the Philippines exudes an elegant simplicity and tender, evocative harmonies. While most of the piece is sung in the traditional language of Ilonggos, the middle section features an a cappella verse sung in English. A Violin part enhances the gentle mood and a pronunciation guide and translation are included.
I never imagined that our song to put the baby to sleep became international. Thanks for singing our Ilonggo song..
Maayong gab-i fm the Arctic
Ayaw! Basi'g mugawas ang white lady.. Oh! I see white ladies are singing it with good rendition.
This song is actually an eerie lullaby... listen very carefully..
@@roniloacabo7760 I agree a bit with you, there is haunting and sadness tin this song, I feel like, one is just singing to the child to sleep just for now, but actually MAMA IS GONE FOREVER! And then you sing again and again but NO MAMA RETURNING!
Wow i never saw it like that oof
that is the lullaby of my family I grow up hearing this lullaby sang by my mother when she was still alive even for her grandchildren
Are you fm Malay?
Thank u for the wonderful cover of our native song.
Love from Philippines 🇵🇭😘
I'm now 61 and this song was sung by my mom to me when I was a baby! This is in Hiligaynon, a dialect spoken by my people.
How are you related to Roding?
@@robertgabuna355 He's the first cousin of my Grandfather!
@@Celestian329
Third generation eh.
The current Vice Mayor of Iloilo City is the son of Roding.
@@robertgabuna355 yes, he is my uncle.

It is good you are connecting with your kin's...GOD bless
wow...goosebumps...nice lullaby...the piano rendition is perfect...its a Hiliganoy dialect in the Phlippines, about a father who's trying to take care (actually trying to sleep) a child, because his mother is out buying or selling bread.
Hiligaynon*
Hiligaynon is not a dialect, it's a language.
i prefer the dark version cause it's a dark song. Yes it's a lullaby. But still dark.
This song is actually an eerie lullaby... listen very carefully...
This song really works..if you want your baby go to sleep., and it's best if you just sing by a humming sound
True tas gawin mo sa corridor ng school niyo 😅😂😂
Every time I hear this song it kept me crying... remembering my mom +... thank you so much...
My native tongue..
goosebumps
Nice lullaby.
Wonderful arrangement!
Filipino song
here in the philippines...this song is used in horror movies.....specially involving white ladies.....gives me goosebumps.
research office
I'm sure you're not Ilonggo. You don't know what you're talking about.
resear office is just a pinoy punk trying to be funny...maybe he never understood Philippine Kundimans and lullabies...and if you listened at the end...the music professor said, "you can use this for international contest..."
Search for the movie "White Lady" its a horror movie that change that sweet song into a creepy one...
@@thomastaylor885 hahaha...
Why allow the hijackers of this beautiful song scare you?
