  • Super hot day in Knoxville TN. Skated on the inlines for about and hour then went to the skateboard and had NOTHING. Had to get a skate in though. It was fun, but brutal hot.

You are an inspiration my friend!! I'm in your neck of the woods in Maryville. I want to check out the pump track at the Baker Creek Preserve. That skatepark looks fun.

Great that you got some skateboard in as well, just be careful about pushing too hard when tired. Hopefully you get some colder days soon so it isn't as rough!

We are not even in the hottest part of summer yet, so I don't expect a cool down any time soon. It will cool down eventually and I'll be complaining about it being too cold next winter!

Hey, that's my local! I just started learning to skate and usually keep things to the flatground. I use the hip over to the side to practice kickturns so I can eventually drop in and not look so useless in a bowl! Happy to see someone doing their thing here!

Oh, also there is another park in fountain city. It is way smaller and very little ramps, but might be able to do something there!

We saw a guy ripping up the bowl when we first arrived. I inline skated for a while and by the time I was on the skateboard, I was trashed. That big bowl looked like a lot of fun as did the smaller bowl that I didn't try, I just had nothing left and looked pretty lame in there! Those 2 "U" shaped mini-ramp type sections with the spine between them was really fun, I just had nothing left in my legs to pump with! That smaller one where I did some drop ins early in the video is a great place to learn drop ins, its got a great transition, but if you can hit some smaller ramps at that other park, that would be ideal. Good luck!

damn, another hot day of inline and skating. You must be beat. That park does look rough and you made the best of it .

Nothing but hot lately. Yea, that park has some of the worst surface we have ever skated. That plus being tired just got me.

Thats a great park. Been one time and i gotta go back. Im 36 and gettinf back into skateboarding after growing up doing it. Still scared to drop in again. Watching you is inspiring. Keep moving man!

Thanks! The drop ins are just one of those things you lose the nerve for when you haven't done them in a while, it took me a long time to get back to doing them again and I still don't do them on every wall. I try to do at least 10 every time I skate no matter what, and that's on the board as well as the inlines. I have done well over 1000 on the inlines I'm sure, and every new wall gives me a case of the nerves still! If you had them before, they'll come back, good luck!

Great job pushing hard on skating after doing inline prior to it. Man, that park looks pretty great, but it appears it needs a serious resurfacing. I could feel the roughness from here just watching you skate that gravel. 😮

There was a kid there ripping the bowl when we first arrived. It was way bigger than it looked on the GoPro and I just couldn't bring myself to drop into it, my legs almost buckled on that 5 foot wall. You would have to do that to get enough speed, but even then it was incredibly rough. There was a smaller bowl I should have tried but didn't.

@@theaverageoldguyis Knoxville somewhere you return to from time to time? If so you could maybe put on some softer wheels since it’s so rough there.

Insane channel, it motivates me to continue even if i'm shy to go to the skateparc as a beginner female

I had a similar experience and did a video a while back about it called "Face your fears". I was really intimidated to go to the park as an old guy returning to skating after decades off, not because the park intimidated me, but because I was worried about how I would be received there by the younger crowd. I have to say, at my local park at least, I have had a great positive experience. Skaters generally are very glad to see new skaters and my son and I (we do inlines together) have made a lot of friends at the park. I can't pretend to know how you feel as a female, but I would think generally the skaters would welcome you and be glad to help you improve. Good luck on your progress!

@@theaverageoldguy thank you for sharing your experience on your challenge! Often, other skaters are pro and they give tricks, wich is nice, but it's a lot nicer to see someone start and face the same obstacle we are as a beginner, keep going!
