How to wire up and use a DROK variable voltage / amperage power supply.

- I bought a DROK variable voltage / amperage power supply so I could emulate a solar panel, but there are so many other uses for it! You can charge 12v - 48v batteries or just charge up an individual 3.2v cell. You can also test solar charge controllers without having a solar panel! PLUS... you can use it to wake up sleeping LifePo4 batteries!

That was very interesting. Thank you for the video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment.
thanks for the review been thinking about getting one of these but was not sure, now I am
Glad I could help! Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for this video!
My pleasure! Thanks for the comment.
Great video 👍
Thanks for the comment!
Good Video. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment.
I see you have a bench power supply on your desk as well, when do you choose to use one over the other ? Can the Drok do everything the other one does ?
Yes it can. The DROK can actually get to a higher voltage. The bench power supply is more convenient though. Thanks for the comment.
What about that red fork supplied in the bag, why you never mentioned it? Is that a fuse?
I believe the red fork is just an extra wire connector. There is no special use for it. Hope that answers your question and thanks for the comment.
13:15 When you measure the battery voltage with the power supply still hooked up, how are you sure thats the battery voltage and not the PS voltage?
Good question! When I was raising the voltage of the PS you could see the display rise up. When the BMS wakes up you see a slight flicker in the PS amperage, then the voltage of the PS stays at a constant 10.7v. That is the voltage of the battery after waking up. The PS display switched from a voltage setting display to a battery voltage display. If you were really going to charge the battery after waking up the BMS like I showed you would want to disconnect it from the battery and set the voltage to 14v or so. Then you would hook it back up and crank up and amperage. Thanks for the question and the comment.
What does the TS switch do on the left of the power output? When I have it in the left position it reads a fixed 2volt. In the right position it shows zero voltage but it can be increased. Thanks for any help. The directions from Drok are junk.
That is basically the power switch. It will reduce the amperage output to zero. Hope this helps.
At 8:42 i think this fuse allows you to change the current. I dont know why else that fuse is included. The instructions were too deep for my brain.
Thanks for the info and the comment.
No way I just bought one yesterday for recondtioning a hybrid traction pack.
I got the $12 one!
Good choice! Is that one constant amperage and voltage up to 30v? Thanks for the comment.
What was the rating of the power supply
It goes up to 60v and up to 8A. 480w max.
That lead acid battery must have been almost DEAD to draw 8 amps from the start. Yous hould have been able to adjust the voltage and current without disconnecting the battery. That supply seems strange.
I feel the same way. Thanks for the comment.
I especially like the way you are poking about with your DC test leads AND your fingers LESS than an inch from the UNPROTECTED AC input terminals. Very smart in case you want to seriously ELECTROCUTE yourself!
Friends - this youtuber is NOT a competent electrician, nor technician, nor electrical hobbyist. Anything he says or does - take it with a BIG pinch of salt! (meaning do not pay any attention whatsoever).
I don't want to be mean, but this is DANGEROUS stuff if you don't know what you are doing.
You're correct. This is dangerous and I should've been wearing electrical gloves while making the video and doing the testing. Thanks for the comment and concern.
