To be honest, I've been wanting to visit this garden for a very long time now. I really love nature and I am very fascinated with it. It has been a very relaxing and refreshing experience visiting this historical and botanical garden. The sound of the birds, the rustling of leaves, the sound of the earth as we walk by, and the flow of the water calm the mind. Located just 15-25 minutes away from the Málaga city center, you can easily reach this amazing garden. It is so big I was able to cover the whole place! But I definitely enjoyed the tour in the garden.
The Jardín Botánico Histórico La Concepción (La Concepción Historic Botanical Garden) is an English landscape-style garden with more than one hundred and fifty years of history. It is located at the northern entrance to the Spanish city of Málaga, and it is one of the few gardens with subtropical plants that exist in Europe. It has more than fifty thousand plants, of two thousand tropical, subtropical and indigenous species, highlighting the collection with more than one hundred different species of palm trees, bamboos, aquatic plants and its historic garden.
Back then, it was a recreational estate owned by a family of the city's upper bourgeoisie from the middle of the 19th century, until in 1990 it became public property, being the Malaga City Council who founded the Patronato Botánico Municipal 'Ciudad de Málaga.'
The La Concepción garden was built around 1855 thanks to the work of the married couple named Jorge Loring y Oyarzábal and Amalia Heredia Livermore, Marquises of the Loring House. Jorge Loring, one of the most influential figures in Málaga in the 19th century and a personal friend of Cánovas del Castillo or Francisco Silvela, was a successful businessman, as well as a deputy to the Cortes. His wife Amalia Heredia, daughter of the industrialist Manuel Agustín Heredia, was a cultured woman, interested in plants, books and archeology. Furthermore, in La Concepción they treasured a substantial archaeological heritage, of which there are still some remains in the form of Roman sculptures and mosaics; and a rich botanical heritage, thankful, among others, to the skill of a French gardener named Chamoussant.
In 1990 the garden was acquired by the Málaga City Council, which after four years of renovations and adaptation, opened it to the public. Since then, new spaces and gardens have been incorporated around the Historical Garden, in the form of thematic gardens, highlighting those dedicated to palm trees, carnivorous plants and orchids, others to cacti and succulents or the one around the world in eighty trees.
La Concepción occupies an area of fifty-five hectares, of which twenty-five belong to the historic garden. Next to it, there are thematic gardens and a large area of untransformed autochthonous Mediterranean forest that can be visited; They are the so-called "forest route" and the "viewpoint route" in the upper area of the garden.

@@KrielJan por aquí hay muchos parques y espacios naturales interesantes que puedes visitar como por ejemplo el Molino de Inca de Torremolinos, el Parque de la Paloma y su Mariposario de Arroyo de la Miel, el parque de Mijas, el Orquidiario de Estepona, el Caminito del Rey de Ardales, la Cueva de Nerja, los acantilados de Maro, el bosque de cobre del Genal, los pinsapares de la Sierra de las Nieves o la laguna de Fuente de Piedra. Lo que no sé si ahora mismo habrá restricciones para entrar en ellos.
