  • Japan’s Yuki Kawamura has been turning heads at the Paris 2024 Olympics men’s basketball competition! Standing at just 5'8", Kawamura has earned comparisons to Puerto Rico's 5'10" JJ Barea, cementing his status as one of the best small players in Summer Olympics history.
Kawamura is averaging an incredible 20.3 points and 7.7 assists per game, making him a top performer and fan favorite. He ranks among the top five scorers alongside NBA stars Giannis Antetokounmpo, RJ Barrett, Santi Aldama, and teammate Rui Hachimura. He’s also fourth in assists, alongside elite players like Nikola Jokic, Dennis Schroder, and Spain's Lorenzo Brown.
In a standout performance against host nation France, Kawamura scored 29 points, including six three-pointers, with seven rebounds and six assists, facing NBA big men Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert. FIBA notes Kawamura is one of only three players in the 21st century to achieve 25+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 5+ assists in an Olympic game, joining Kevin Durant and Luol Deng.
Kawamura’s journey continues as he signs an Exhibit 10 contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, potentially paving the way for his NBA dreams.
