It’s the other way around if you studied Khmer history. The sampot with the pleated front is depicted in statues from the Chenla period, centuries before Thai migrated to the central plains. The Thai word sabai is derived from the Khmer word sbai. Same with chong kraben which is derived from the Khmer word chong kben. The word chong in Khmer means to tie and is in everyday use and kben refers to the style of the pants. Not only do we have statues and bas-reliefs depicting these styles of clothing long before the first Thai kingdom was founded, there are Thai words derived from Khmer. What you refer to as Ayutthaya culture and clothing was inherited from Khmers. This has been said by both western academics and even Thais. Read an actual history book and get out of the propaganda sphere. Also, brush up on some manners. People who seek out Khmer videos to leave such comments do not come from good family lineage.

In fact, Khmer was under Thai rule for 432 years. according tradition, children of Khmer kings had to live and grow up in the Thai royal court, learning about various, cultures and tradition. when he was appointed by Thai king to return to rule Khmers, he adopted thos cultures.
The Thai rayal court wore Thai clothing from the Ayutthaya period until the Rattanakosin period, Queen Sirikit designed 8 types of Thai costumes for use on various occasions and registered the copyright to make them the Thai national costume, she wore them to the world and appeared in many media for a long time. meanwhile, Khmer royal family never wore them.

@@mayureenoumkhoksung8607 there’s no evidence that Siam ruled over Cambodia for that long. If it did, how was Cambodia able to enter into a treaty with France? Cambodia was a vassal state of Annam before becoming a French protectorate and Annam was the one who produced written documents as proof. Since France had control of Annam, by default it now had privilege to sign a treat with Cambodia. And it was king Ang Duong and his sons who were housed in Siam for a lengthy time, not 400 years ago or anywhere close to it. Even though the king and his sons received influence from Siam, the locals were not accepting of it. An example would be the type of Buddhism that was brought over from Siam, but did not grow with acceptance with the majority of Cambodians. As for culture, language, food, dance, clothing, etc., what you have now was inherited from the Ayutthaya period which was heavily influenced by Khmer. And the skirt, sbai and chong kben were worn before your current queen mother. The French captured it in photographs during the 19th century. And before that, those types of clothing are depicted in statues from the 6th century. Again, you have no archeological evidence to support your claims.
