The fact that Sensei's (legendary) voice actor, Hiroshi Kamiya, was also the voice of Itoshiki Nozomu from Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei (a teacher who can only see things in negatives and constantly tries to commit suicide, but fails), makes this a lot funnier to me. Also, screw Levi, put some respect on this man's name for also voicing Izaya from Durarara, Araragi from Monogatari series, Shinji from Fate series, and like a million other things. Hiroshi Kamiya is a beast of a voice actor and shouldn't just be known for just one popular role (that's not even his most iconic).
@@UraharaSato-kun wait, he was Saiki? Did not realize that. I was planning on watching the dub for that series since I've heard it's really good, but now I'm conflicted...
"Sensei" is based off of the late author Osamu Dazai, who committed double suicide with his wife (scene at the start) I guess to put it in a simplistic to my understanding a lot of the reason for why hes trying to end it all, is depression.
In fact the line, "Mine has been a life of much shame" is directly borrowed from Osamu Dazai's last, semi-autographical work, "No Longer Human" (some sources translate the name as "Disqualified as a human being", or "A failed human"). I've followed this manga because I loved "No Longer Human" and was curious to see where this goes. Really excited to see it animated now.
@@lelouchlamperouge8524 Another interesting detail is the the Japanese title for No Longer Human is "Ningen Shikkaku", with "Ningen" meaning "Human", and "Shikkaku" meaning "Disqualified". To dive a little deeper, shikkaku is formed of two kanjis, the first meaning "loss" and the second meaning "rank, status or capacity", so "loss of status + human = loss of the status of human = no longer human or disqualified as human". The title of the anime is obviously a play on that, and means something like "Disqualified as an Isekai" or "No Longer an Isekai"
@@TheFrancesc18 Wow I knew the part about Disqualified but I didn't have any idea about the kanjis that formed it and how the whole meaning emerges. Very interesting detail indeed, thanks for sharing!
Funniest thing is that the author he's based on actually did have depression rizz. He got married two times, tried to commit double-suicide with his first wife and failed, divorced her, then had three children with his second wife, cheated on her with a war widow and in the end succeeded at committing double suicide with this woman.
an entertaining anime, the mc dazai is really different from many other isekai mcs lmao and i cant believe truck kun is real and not just a plot device irl dazai is... interesting. he's a famous japanese author but he was pretty depressed. one of his most famous work is called "No longer human". he came from a well off family but ended up writing a bunch of depressing stories. he had several lovers over the years, the last of which committed double suicide with him at a river in 1948. he actually attempted suicide many times prior to that but kept failing. so that's why his animanga depictions often show him obsessed with suicide.
Honnestly, this is a fresh take. I guess this will end with sensei realising his reason for wanting death in the first place was also bollocks. Sensei is mean and nice at the same time, TBH in reality this is the most efficient way to stop someone in their tracks. I'd like to meet whoever wrote this.
11:55 “You’re just gonna write? That’s not gonna give you powers to beat monsters” Alexander Hamilton became the ultimate hero in another world after carriage-kun appeared out of nowhere and ran him over in an alternate universe
rewatching this reaction... interesting note that he failed the double suicide because suicide implies self harm but the truck took that choice away from him... as seen from the later episode, dazai doesn't let others dictate how he chooses to live or die and likes people who stand on their own feet so his whole shtick about dying is probably not just wanting to die specifically, but wanting to choose his death huh...
the scene of Annette dragging the coffin on a rope made me laugh so hard dude, mostly because it remembered me of an old Brazilian meme, prety much the same vibes there XD
When I was reading the Manga it's pretty funny but now that I am watching the anime it also kinda sad cause unlike this story the real osamu dazai was such an great writer who chose to end it for real with his wife and could not come back 😶
i readed the manga when it was still going there was a picture about isekai truck kun service in form of a company sign i am not kidding i even used it as a meme
Man has a single goal and will do whatever it takes to achieve it.

You forgot saiki kusuo from saiki k, yato from noragami, and law from one piece

Yes he is saiki haha
also truck kun being a canon thing is priceless
(in manga it literally says truck kun if i remember correctly)
Dude, this story has some of the best writing I've seen in the later stages of the manga. The humour is also pretty good in my opinion.

Well saving the world can kill you, he should just accept the job.
in the manga they died on top of the bridge you can see on the left, I don't know why they change the location
