    Nice Video! But be careful with glass spills. Molten glass is extremely corrosive towards your insulation. It will eat right through your kaowoll, i'm speaking from experience.

      SomeAustrianGuy oh crap had no idea, will I’d do any damage to fire brick because I spilt a little on the base firebrick of my furnace. Also I split molten metal a while ago on my kao wool and just wondering if it’ll damage it too?

    • @SomeAustrianGuy
      @SomeAustrianGuy Před 5 lety +1

      Firebricks are a bit more resistant, but you should try to scrape it off. Most molten metal spills aren't nearly as bad, just take it out after the furnace is cold.

    Cool idea and neat video, even if it didn't work. I like the editing and drone shots too.

      Chris Tinney yeah haha I probably won’t melt glass again because it’s really annoying because it gets all stuck in my furnace

      Chris Tinney also Ive ordered a new devil-forge double burner forge so I will also be doing some forging👌👍

    I know this is old but if you ever try again make a two-part mould and leave the glass in the sand overnight to cool might help it not break.

    Cool bro 🤘🏻. I was like DONT fast cool it🤣 , I have some refractory brick pieces from my work and was gonna do some lava like presstube did as well as a glass melt as I have 4 old shit crucibles that I can’t do molten metal in again as it’s a high chance of failure but as you know with glass or lava rocks it flows like cold honey so no pin holes or small leaks to worry about👍🏻. It’ll be next month or month after when I finally get around to it as I have a list I’m slowly working through. 😁👏🏻

      bigstackD Casting oh that’s cool can’t wait for those videos👍 yeah I haven’t had a Brocken crucible yet. Also if I do have a molten metal spill inside my kaowool furnace would it do much damage?

      RT melt sorry for the late reply buddy been busy as f#*k doing shutdowns and shit 🤦🏻‍♂️. I’ve had quite a few spills and a couple leaks in my wool furnace and the only real problem I had was wen the Metal sets and cools and you try to remove it from the furnace it’ll stick to the wool🤷🏻‍♂️. Basically all it’ll do is take some wool with it wen ya pull it out.
      I have a a massive 6mtr roll of wool blanket so if it ever happens let me know and I’ll try squeeze a heap into a post bag for ya👍🏻.
      They sell it on eBay for crazy prices like $25 for 30cm x 60cm x1 inch thick🤯🤯.
      I got my 6 metre x 60cm full roll for only $90 from a pizza oven distributor in Perth 180kms north of me . So ide rather spend $10 of my money to post to ya than you spend $25 of your money and get ripped off 👍🏻😉.
      I’ll look after ya little buddy 😁.
      Take care be safe ! And most importantly stay in school ! Don’t do drugs! And always heat ya molds !!! 👍🏻

      bigstackD Casting don’t worry I can only imagine how busy you would be. I haven’t had any major spills yet but I bet it will happen soon😬. I was actually thinking of buying some wool off Ebay but I didn’t really want to spend the money because as you said it was a bit of a ripoff. That would be bloody great if you could send me a bit later if I ever have a bad spill👍. Thanks for all the help.

    For real! What's with the BLARING ASS LOUD music? Why do so many YT channels do that? They obviously edit a BLARING ASS LOUD intro and outro in to the video. Do you not know how to use the software to turn it down or are the people that do this deaf or what? Deaf people can visually see a volume meter...

    A block of glass that thick would take about 3 days to anneal. :-/

    • @tbkustomknives8907
      @tbkustomknives8907  Před 5 lety

      worldtraveler it was more of an experiment so I didn’t care if it cracked and I knew it would crack. I was just melting the glass to see how easy it melted so when I was done I just made a block of glass not intending to do anything with it. You should checkout my other videos as I mainly focus on metal casting👍

      @@tbkustomknives8907 Glass is a huge pain in the ass. I've seen your stuff. I'm combining custom cast glass pieces at the moment with cast bronze. Casting glass is seriously BORING! My average pieces at the moment take 19HOURS from start to finish and I am starting to have some serious money invested in this venture. :-(

    What's the thumbs up fore? You are ruining your cruiseble with stuck glass, you are spilling glass in to the furnace, and you dont know how to anneal it properly afterword's. That leaves you with some shattered peace's in the end, which would shatter even more when you least expect it. It just leaves me wondering, if you have the slightest idea of what you are doing?

      @@scottsammons737 I have being casting bronze for years, and also had being playing around with glass, as they both are in the high temperature range. I dont feel the need to flash my work or techniques in this forum, and only uses it for inspiration. But, when i see amatures like in this video, who obviousley have no clue what so ever, of what they are doing, showing it to the world like they are pros, then i have to comment it, before someone belives that this is the way to do it. I think there is a limit of what kind of stupidity we shall llet passed unsaid, and this is one of them. If you are looking for the proper way to make glasswork, plese look somewhere else.
