Rubber Soul over Revolver. Favourite Beatles album after Abbey Road.
rubber soul is the greatest album ever. the harmonies are perfect. the songs are legendary.
The Greatest Band Of All Time....Period
You forgot the t sir
Sitting On A Froot Loop “Periodt?”
coming from a scouser who lives 2 minutes from john lennons house, strawberry fields and penny lane, this may sound biased but they’re the greatest band of all time and it isnt even close

@@strayslump damn, have you been more delusional than this? 💀
Rubber Soul contains my favorite Beatles song "In My Life" which is a song I've listened to at different points in my life and I appreciate it more and more.
Brilliant song. One of Johns best.
@@lous8619 absolutely.
In My Life is what blew me up to the Beatles
Same
This song really got me into their fantastic music.
The most impressive thing about the Beatles?
How they transformed rock music from Chuck Berry/Everly Brothers, to Abbey Road type music in 13 albums and 6 years.
INCREDIBLE!!!
Beatlemania symptoms:
Soul turns to rubber
Driving a car
Travels to Norwegian woods
Changes name to Michelle
A real nowhere man
And don't know what is going on
It’s Rubber Soul for me. I’m blessed I was 16 in 1967, a teenager in the sixties! Beat that.
I’m 16 right now and it fucking blows
@@johnsolis_234 Stand up for yourself and don't stay someone whose "channel doesn't have any content".
Me too.
I was 13 in '67. Didn't realize those were the last golden years of America.
wms72 Thanks. It is like to think a move forward for everyone. It is not and was not, a cultural competition between countries, although there was a certain rivalry, but an awakening and expansion for everyone. The 1960s had its downsides, but overall, it injected a huge sense of creativity and global love that challenged outworn militaristic ambitions.
Rubber Soul for sure. Every song is incredible.
That's the key fact every songs likable
"Rubber Soul" and "Revolver"are like twin albums and I prefer "Rubber Soul" a little bit over "Revolver."
I believe George said he thought of Revolver as part 2 of Rubber Soul.
Still don’t understand this. There’s not one song on Revolver that would’ve sounded fitting on RS. Doctor Robert and And Your Bird Can Sing come closest but not close enough. There’s no way in hell the intense psychedelia of Eleanor Rigby, I’m Only Sleeping, Tomorrow Never Knows, She Said She Said, Yellow Submarine and Love You To would’ve fit on RS.
Both great albums, but I too like Rubber Soul a bit better.....
Steve Parr Both absolute classics, no doubt.
Rubber soul. Revolver. Volume 1 and Volume 2. My edge goes to Revolver. There is no right or wrong answer on these two albums. It's all a matter of personal taste. My 2 favorite Beatles albums
When I was a senior in High School, 1966-67, Rubber Soul was the soundtrack of our lives. It was, and is, a work of art, and a leap for pop/rock and roll music.
Gotta be Rubber Soul for me. Revolver is an incredible series if songs, but Rubber Soul feels like a place you go too and visits from time to time when you listen to it.
i always thought it was rubber jam lol.
@ 6:56 As George Harrison once said:
“I really liked Rubber Soul, and I also really like Revolver, they are like Volume 1 & Volume 2.” George Harrison, Beatles Anthology 1994-95.
Mark Richards Nice, I kind of agree too
That was George's favorite album.
"The most important thing about it was that we were suddenly hearing sounds we weren’t able to hear before. Also, we were being more influenced by other people’s music and everything was blossoming at that time - including us.”
Also, he said that Rubber Soul was when they were "fully fledged potheads" contributioning a lot to their creativity at the time.
Isaac N. Ah interesting input, and yep, this is true
Yeah... he was wrong.
This Bird Has Flown who is wrong?
The golden days when talented inventive musicians sparred with each other and created musical treasures! 👌🎶😎
Rubber Soul is one of my Favorite albums by The Beatles! Great album.
I love both Rubber Soul and Revolver, but would pick Rubber Soul if forced to choose. John was on fire.
Hardest decision ever. Maybe Abbey Road?? 😂😂
John on fire for me to Anna!
And Hey Bulldog isn't on fire?
@@kenrussell1093 Hey bulldog is on fire ⭐
If I had to choose, I’d have to say Revolver. I feel like that album just builds upon everything great from Rubber Soul.
Exactly!!!!
Agreed!
Yes
Another little tidbit: this was George Harrison's favorite Beatles album.
CORRECT
Rubber soul was an album like no other. And it was the first concept recording by a rock band. The transition makes it the very best album ever.
I'd rather not have to choose, but if I had to, I'd pick REVOLVER.
Chris Maxfield It depends on my mood for me
I was thinking of how to say exactly what you did. I agree.
I pick rubber soul. But they both good.
Me too, easy choice. Basically electric guitar vs. acoustic guitar.
Mostly because of Taxman, She said, She said and Tomorrow Never Knows.
I was born in 1985. I was introduced to The Beatles at an early age of course. I grew up indulging in all the music of the 90’s and loved the rock, alternative and “nu-metal”
scene of the late 90’s/early 2000’s. I listen to rap, techno, EDM, metal, punk, folk, classical, R&B, and so on. I also LOVE classic rock of all era’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s…
I’m 36 today and there is no doubt in my mind that of all the music I’ve heard and listened to, and of all the SONGS I’ve ever heard. To this day…I consider “In My Life” the greatest song ever written. It is my favorite song and piece of music of all time. It’s the song I want played at my funeral. There is no doubt. This album and band are beyond legendary. They’re damn near mythical.
I would take Revolver Soul, because happiness is always a warm gun.
Um ok
Yeah, what they said ^^^
When one is living through the times that the Beatles were dominant the memories are burned into one's heart and mind.
I wish I did, but I'm happy I'm living young right now, too
In My Life is my favorite of all their songs.
David McDonald oh I know! That’s so funny!
I saw that an AI analyzed the music they made from 1964 to 66 and determined it was very very likely it was John.
@David McDonald John with a little input form Paul and a lot from George Martin.
Michelle
Brian Kennedy for sure, I consider it a Lennon song with an iconic part from Martin, and of course mccartney always manages to wiggle is way in there
In My Life is or was my first song from The Beatles
Rubber Soul was the first Album I bought with my allowance. I was 9 years old in 1965. ( my 2 teenage aunts turned me on to the Beatles.)
I absolutely love rubber soul. Probably my favourite album
Favorite Beatles album. Perhaps my favorite album, full stop.
Dec. 3, 2019. This album is exactly 54 years old.
Rubber Soul is one of my all time favorite albums, and my favorite Beatles album. This was the point where they transitioned from pop to art. I love it as much as I did as an 11 year old in 1966.
"Hi guys... I wrote a song" - Ringo Starr
Michael Buno thats great ringo im just gonny put it over here on the fridge
Poor Ringo, the Rodney Dangerfield of the Beatles.
@MG Stevens Those that know know Ringo is gear and fab, but in terms of the popular perception-or misperception-Ringo is the poor lovable shlub who gets no respect. It was a cultivated persona, when you look at it. Just look how he portrays himself in the Beatles movies.
Thts great Ringo,
Put it up on the fridge
Family G.-
"Octopuses garden" is one of their best songs.
So many genres seasoned into their songs on this record.
Very well put!
Although i love Rubber Soul, my favourite album is Revolver ,because is full of psychedelia .
For me it would be Revolver every time. Still love Rubber Soul, but Revolver just edges it due to Taxman and especially Tomorrow Never Knows, a truly groundbreaking track.
To me Revolver is the. Greatest album in history.. just my opinion
Just ask Paul Weller - taxman.
I remember hearing Tomorrow Never Knows for the first time. It was like the other songs on the album disappeared into never-never land. I played it over and over and I could never make up my mind if it was the pulsating drums or the guitar like I've never heard before. To this day, I still can't make up my mind ... and that doesn't even begin to talk about the lyrics. Stunning. Then finally, I decided to relisted to the rest of the album. Billy Joel said it best in THE LAST PLAY AT SHEA: "Best band that ever was. Best band that ever will be.
Same here, for the same reasons.
Revolver was a major turning point in The Beatles history as well as in the history of Rock and Roll.

I was listening to Rubber Soul for more than 40 years before I heard Revolver. I still prefer Rubber Soul.
Please do an episode about The Beatles Christmas messages! That would be fab!
Dude, great suggestion for the holidays! Seriously thank you for that!!

Rubber soul is such an intimate and melancholic album. I would describe it this way: ,,It's a kind of music that touches you so much that makes you sorry, still you don't regret a single day,,.
"In My Life" is such a brilliant song; incredibly nostalgic and emotionally evocative. Rubber Soul - Revolver- Sgt. Pepper is the holy trinity of albums.
It IS difficult to choose "the best" album, or even "a favorite", because from Rubber Soul onward, each album was a musical epoch.
Revolver, but Rubber soul is amazing as well
When I hear Wait, I think of Cyn and Jane after John and Paul returned home from touring. Lovely, romantic thought.
My two favorite Beatles albums too! I think if I had to choose between the two, I'd probably pick Rubber Soul. Don't ask me why, but yes Rubber Soul.
Nice, rubber soul is my favorite Beatles album.
Throughout their career as a band, The Beatles went from pop-friendly teen idols to serious musical innovators as adults. They successfully evolved artistically, musically, and lyrically in every album.
Your insights and detail are completely fascinating. I’m 68 years old and I grew up with the Beatles. My appreciation and joy have increased over time, not diminished. Thank you thank you
Rubber Soul and Revolver have long been my two favorite Beatles albums, but Rubber Soul has always been #1 for me.
What about, “Think for yourself” one of the few rock songs to feature two simultaneous bass lines.
My two favorite albums. But I was sold at "I'm Only Sleeping". I lean Revolver.
When Rubber Soul was released it was the ONLY album played, over and over, at a college party I attended. It was a magic night. And yes, I got the girl. Love you, Elsie.
In 1965 Rubber Soul was the first album I purchased, I was 14 and had been playing guitar, somewhat, for about 1 year,
unfortunately my father had a portable stereo record player with a mono needle so I learned half the songs with the
second track in the background, I believe this made me learn to concentrate on the music and backing tracks and made me
a better guitarist and overall musician. I loved and still love this album. Later I went to Wallicks Music City and bought a
proper stereo needle and learned the other half, thanks pops.
The word, very underrated song
How do you figure that? Why does every idiot use that word "underrated"? It is as bad as "ahead of its time"
cravinbob peace ✌🏼
@@cravinbob it just means it doesnt get talked about as much as it should, idiot
cravinbob underrated doesn’t bother me. Overrated does. The other term you mentioned is brain dead tho I agree, invalidates anyone’s opinion in my eyes it’s so fucking dumb.
The Word is Love... This world needs more of it.
Well, I guess "Revolver". The last song of the record "Tomorrow Never Knows", changed everything...!
TNK was something else.
Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream
@@niggato23 I GET HIGH LISTENING TO THAT SONG----WITHOUT SUBSTANCES.
I was 1st introduce 2 the Beatles when i was 5yrs old in 1964. I had 3 older sisters & am so happy I did. I have been crazy in love with them & their music ever since, so much so I couldn’t choose between the 2 records. They r both so great. They just continued 2 b more amazing with ever record they released.
I remember the first time I heard Rubber Soul, it was my brothers eight track tape, it blew me away. I remember hearing the song, "Run for your life" and thinking "this song is pretty dark" . This album remains one of my all time favorites.
It can be argued that the change really began on the previous album, "Help"
Indeed; ; I've just seen a face.
"Help" is the best Beatle album. Revolver is the best Rock album.
Yes!!! I've Just Seen a Face, Help, and Ticket to Ride all feel like a sea change for the group.
Indeed. (On the British version.) They had met Dylan in August '64 and got turned on to pot. The transition happened shortly thereafter.
Rubber Soul was my friend favorite Beatles album (my favorite keeps changing 😂)
i love you for keeping the beatles content alive! thank you for your hard work.
Great video. I remember playing Rubber Soul for months every morning before I left for work so that it would be in my head for the rest of the day. What an album.
Rubber soul is the Beatles most solid and consistent album.
Abbey Road
I agree but so is Abbey Road. It flows so well.
As much as I love Rubber Soul , I would definitely still pick Revolver , I just find it more surreal . However Rubber Soul is still great
Both great I agree 👌💓
Rubber Soul was the first Beatles album i fully listened to. It was about 1,5 year ago when i asked my grandparents if they had any Beatle vinyls
I've heard some songs of them back then.
It was lovely when i had a listen to it! I now have heard a lot of the Beatles' songs, but i still have 3 albums i want to listen to, on vinyl, for the first time.
For most of my life, I could easily answer your last question with "Revolver", but in recent years, I've come to realize that "Rubber Soul" is the album of the two that really makes me feel alive.
I wish I'd lived in those days and experience each new Beatles album come for nearly a decade. I wouldn't even mind that that meant, I'd be older now.
Vanakaam, bhai. 🙏 Thanks for another great Beatles video. The two records I can't decide which one is favorable. 🤔
Rubber Soul. The album that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and the room seemed to be a little bit brighter when I heard the opening of I've Just Seen A Face. I was 11 years old at the time. Amazing portion of that track. It was my eldest brothers record. After listening to this one I next found 12X5 from The Rolling Stones in his collection. Blew me away. Back to the Beatles. I bought Revolver and the whole thing just smoked my mind. Especially She Said, She Said. thank you for your channel and also for affording me the opportunity to share my love for the Beatles recordings and their willingness to be genuine and live their lives 'out loud' if you will. Great job. Will continue to sneak into your channel brother. Much love.
My two favorite Beatle-albums (and thereby my two fav albums of all time) are "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver". Picking a favorite of the two is like being asked whether you love your son or daughter the most. They are different, but you love them equally.
I love Rubber Soul ❤️
It’s an amazing album!
Ahhh... Can't forget George Martin on harpsichord in the middle of "In My Life" ...Two great albums kids...
Kevino, the 'harpsichord' on In my life was actually George Martin playing a piano which was sped up to sound like a harpsichord. George used this trick on other beatles records as well as on other records he produced around this time. Great song.
@@tonymurphy528 Ahhh... Thanks
Tony Murphy Half right. It’s a harpsichord, but played an octave down at half time then sped up because he couldn’t play it fast enough.
Tony Trimboli, wrong, not only did George mention it in his Autobiography, there are numerous you tube videos explaining how it was done, on piano.
Tony Murphy Touché. You are correct. My mistake.
Rubber Soul was my first Beatles album. It was being tossed out of our neighbors record store after she passed away. It was a strange time in my life. Mrs Oakes was our neighbor and just a sweet lady. When we took a train from Wichita to Seattle to visit our dad who had gotten transferred by Boeing, Mrs Oakes had gone to the hospital. We didnt know what that meant and when we came back 3 weeks later, she had died.. This was 1967 and my parents hated rock n roll music. We were not allowed to have that music in our home or to listen to it on the radio. It was right after that, when I bought a transistor radio. I was 10 years old and started listening to the pop stations in secret. And then that album... I literally changed my life. I had heard Beatles music when visiting friends or specially my cousin who had older siblings in high school. But to hold the album and listen to it in secret while reading the credits... I remember seeing them on Ed Sullivan in 1964 also while visiting our cousins. Seeing the older girls going crazy and I knew I wanted to be a part of that. Listening to Rubber Soul while reading the credits the first time was like that. Life Changing..
Review + discussion of Rubber Soul:
czcams.com/video/WvV6MTPsi2s/video.html
Of the two albums, my favorite is Rubber Soul.
REVOLVER IS MY PICK 1966 WAS WHEN THEY WERE AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME.
When my sister got Rubber Soul in 65 that was it for me. Still my favourite album of all time even though I ended up in much heavier genres. What a record! The fuzz bass thing on Think for Yourself changed my life.
I vividly remember when Rubber Soul came out. I was in a band at the time (keyboards & vocals) and the music on this album woke me up. We had been playing the usual rock&roll standards of the day. At our next rehearsal, we listened to the album together, and it totally changed the way we approached our music. Thanks for this fun, insightful video.
Rubber Soul hands down. My girlfriend got me the vinyl and it’s just incredible :)
Rubber soul was transitioning still, Revolver was the masterpiece.
Other way around
I would say rubber soul is the better album, but revolver is when they really hit a turning point in their career, and started really trying new thinngs
So? Rubber Soul was a transition album, but it was a masterpiece.
@@DannyJ_2003 Completly agree

Great overview.
As a kid of 8 in '65, The DC5 was my fave. The Beatles were my older sister's group.
That all changed with Rubber Soul.
When the CD RI's were released in the '80s, Rubber Soul and Revolver were the first I bought.
You Won’t See Me was an amazing track. Backing vocals arrangement very unique. A very underrated song...

Agree!!! The American "Beatles Second Album" holds a special place in my heart. I trained my voice in middle school playing that album over and over again. And in my 20's fronted a "Beatle Band" because I could sound like both John and Paul just enough to pass the performance off. And today, I even wear Beatles logo adult diapers. So there!!!
The US pre Pepper albums belong in the trash and in the past
Not the music but the way Dave Dexter fucked them up
Rubber Soul is a 14 track album that started with Drive My Car
none of this Ive Just seen a Face stuff
I can't pick a favorite. I was 8 yrs old when I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I knew to watch for them, somehow.
I was hooked! and every release was unique, wonderful, growing into something better, more forward, pushing the limits.
Which is the best? Absurd question. They all are/were---in their time. Each, in their time, was remarkable. They lead us forward
as they traveled forward. We went with them. They were great because they brought us along on their journey.
So glad you guys did this for the anniversary! I love this album so so much. A true important piece of musical history.
I think rubber soul got the Best selection of all the albums. I like all Beatle songs. Don't get me wrong..
There are Five albums that stand apart from the others. All Beatle albums are great. Rubber Soul changed my world in that something was being said. as a thirteen year old I could not tell you what that "something" was. As a sixty seven year old I cannot tell you what the "something" was. I always thought Revolver is all about the music. Happy Happy Happy. Then more shit hit the fan than any sane person could have foreseen and these poor guys had the youth of the world looking to them for some type of support. Beatles six and Revolver are my favorite tunes albums. Rubber Soul is a spiritual experience. bob
It’s like asking: who do you love more, your daughter or your Son?
My first record I ever bought was a mono copy of rubber soul, and it’s what hooked me on the beatles. It’ll always be #1 in my eyes
Nice presentation. For my money Rubber Soul is the best album the Beatles ever recorded.
Let me put it like this: Rubber Soul/Revolver is the better of their two double albums.
I’ve listened to Pet Sounds a few times. I didn’t cry though.
I agree, psychedelic surf music never did it for me.
RUBBER SOUL WAS A TURNING POINT FOR THE FAB 4. THEY HAD COLE OF AGE, A NEW DIRECTION BUT WITHIN A NEW MATURITY TO THEIR SOUND WITHOUT ABANDONING THEIR ROOTS. 54 YEARS ON, STILL AS FRESH TODAY AS WHEN IT WAS FIRST RELEASED A TIME LESS CLASSIC.
Rubber Soul is my favourite Beatles Album! I love this Record!
Rubber Soul And Revolver Are Like Lennon/McCartney Always Related To Each Other.
I think Rubber Soul, and there's one killer song towards why I think so. In My Life!
Rubber Soul is a sentimental favorite. It was more unlike anything else at the time and when I first felt The Beatles were not on danger of stagnation. All the songs were so meaningful.
Over 200 songs recorded in a little over 6 years. Add Motown and the British Invasion and you have the greatest music that will ever be. So glad to have been alive for it.
Rubber Soul is a play on Rubber Sole,as in shoe sole. Lennon was right.
absolutely.
the brownish rubber-ish leather-ish footprint-ish cover logo hammered that point home.
mike saunders Genius.
Hmmmm...I would have to choose Rubber Revolver or Revolver Soul...🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
I exist today because of a broken Rubber...just sayin.
RUBBER SOUL! I happen to be an American living in Europe when Rubber Soul was released. I was at a party in Greece with a bunch of kids who were staying in a youth hostile the first time they played it. Drive my Car was the first cut I heard and it blew me away! Memories I’ll never forget, The Beatles changed my life forever and I love them for making the world a better place!
If you're an American and were blown away by Drive My Car, you were lucky. The song didn't appear on an American Beatles release until 'Yesterday and Today' six months after Rubber Soul.
PS: You probably knew this already.
PPS: Isn't it 'hostel'?
EmileGilbert absolutely correct and I was irked that Drive my Car was not on the original American version!
Rubber Soul and Revolver are my two favorite Beatles albums (and two of my overall favorite pop/rock albums) ... but of the two I would choose Revolver 100% of the time as my favorite.
They are probably the only band in the world that everbody knows the names of each member , even almost 50 years after they broke up.
Queen too, perhaps
rolling stones, the band, kinks, if you love rock n roll you know all the ones that matter
@@ironmonger100 Queen? nah, ask someone, who's John Deacon? then ask, who's Ringo Starr?
They should have made a double album "Rubber Revolver" bang bang!!
Due to historical peculiarities of the 60s me, as a teenager, was able to listen just to one song from that album back then, i.e. Girl. But this alone was good enough to blow my mind and, yes, change my life completely. I am a songwriter myself now.
Rubber Soul is my favorite Beatles album. For years I always thought it was common knowledge that Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road were their best but I realized that Rubber Soul is my most listened to by far. I can listen to it in a loop forever and never get tired of it.
