I had been growing my hair for about 2 1/2 years, Started just before Covid hit Canada.
It’s reached about 19-20inches. I’ve decided to cut it now but What I’ll say to people trying to grow it out is just don’t care what others think, you’ll go through an awkward stage but you’ll regret it if you just cut it off as soon as some negative comments come. I’ve loved my long hair but ik it’s time to try something new. I’ll be going for 7 inches on top and 4 on the sides and back

@@underguise3844 i never trimmed my hair during a 3 year growing process and tbh i wish i would have every now and again. i cut off around 9 inches of hair last month and while its still touching my shoulders its in the best shape its ever been in. dudes who normally tie their hair back like me will neglect all the broken hairs you get for having it wrapped up all the time.
trims arent always necessary but i think that might depend on the type of hair and your personal tolerance for frizzy split ends. in most cases on men it might add to the appeal but its not good for the hair.

I started growing my hair right before COVID hit because I had a bald spot from alopecia. I then kept growing it out just because it was the first time I'd ever grow out my hair so long even though I have native American heritage I just never grew it out so long nor realized it could. I wish I did periodic trims to have kept it healthier I eventually got one trim of about an inch and a half decided to do an undercut because of the way that I sleep the sides of my hair on my head were just sticking out so much from being worn down. The lady fucked up my undercut and then I had my friend fix it and I had to cut about three more inches so it's just past my shoulders and my back and it's longer than it looks because I have a big head so my longest hair is about 2 and 1/2 ft. I'm not even joking My head is like all foot or more fucking long lol. I'm getting to a point where I really want to just cut it again I did have plans to do braids and get some awesome braiding and I've always said for years since the last time my hair was long enough to braid I'll get it braided first but I don't have anybody that can do it for me and it just doesn't look great anyway. However being in my 40s now I'm wondering if I cut it if it can ever go back again lol

if you already have long-ish hair id recommend starting with a good hair wash routine. use shampoo and really massage your scalp, then condition, brush your hair with the conditioner in / whilst washing out the conditioner then wash all product left out, then use a hair mask. normally there should be an instruction on the package for your mask.
thats like the first step. next step is to find out what hair type you are so you can find out how often you should wash it and if for example you need to put oil in your hair every now and then bc its alwasy dry or if you need something against really oily hair.

I don’t know what type of hair you have but my hair length is almost hip length, Wavy/Curly hair. What i do is drink lot of water, train regularly, products i use are aunt Jackie’s curl conditioner , aunt Jackie’s shampoo detangle/moisturizer, aunt Jackie’s leave in conditioner curl, light coconut oil. I clean my hair 2/3 times a week, i never brush my hair when dry or it will make my hair look frizzy and pluffy and just dry and ugly. A great tip that really works for me is after putting leavin conditioner always put a light oil to seal the conditioner on your hair and it will look soft, shiny and silky for long. I’ve received compliments from friends, colleagues and just people in general telling me that my hair looks exotic. Find what products (free of parabens, alcohol) are best for your hair type

Another important factor in people I see is simply your own feeling about it. A lot of people have good hair but don't ever seem happy with it and they don't style it, and the frown on their face makes their hair seem ugly. A bit of positivity or friendliness can make a hairstyle much more appealing, in the same way that somebody wearing a crazy or ugly outfit can wear it extremely well just because of their disposition.

I started growing my hair out because I’m 55 yrs old an I’ve never had long hair. I retired a few years ago and have zero reason to cut it now. These videos and a few from Greg at beardbrand have helped tremendously! I live in Houston too and I’ve found Argon oil helps a lot with my frizzy hair. The frizzy hair is gone now. Keep trying different products until you find a combo that works.

I’m currently growing out my hair and I definitely don’t want to cut it yet because I know it’s definitely easier to get it short again than to keep it long. One cut takes away the almost two years of growing it out lol.
That being said I’m still trying to find a hairstyle that works for me.

I have fine, thin, slightly wavy hair with an oily scalp. Another issue I've had recently is scalp pain. I can't put my hair up in a bun for longer than 20-30 minutes anymore, whereas 5 or so years ago, I could go all day with a bun.
I haven't found an answer to the increased sensitivity, but I will say that if anyone has my hair type, try out organic Peppermint Castile soap. Dilute it to at least half and half, and do your best to avoid your eyes as the peppermint is a bit strong. I don't use conditioner, it just weighs down my hair and causes scalp build up. The peppermint helps with the scalp pain, and my hair feels and looks great for a longer period of time. The two brands I've used are Dr. Bronners and Quinn's Pure Castile Soap. Quinn's has a bit more viscosity, while Bronner's is closer to the thickness of water.

PLEASE do some wavy hair content. My scalp gets oily after about 2 days, but my ends are always super dry. Used to shampoo every day for years, used really harsh shampoo from scalp to ends and got super dried out. Used conditioner from scalp to ends, too. Also started using coconut oil, which helped a bit, but poor basic care was putting the cart before the horse. Summer would make my hair super frizzy and split my ends so fast. Hair also dries out quickly. I am a 2a/2b, combination scalp/ends, fine hair strands, dense/thick growth pattern, and I *think* it's pretty porous (hair dries in about an hour and saturates fairly quickly).
I recently subscribed to Formulate, have been using 1mg finasteride for almost 6 months to regrow the corners of my hairline (which is working), stopped shampooing so often (now twice per week), shampoo only the scalp, condition only the ends, dry with a low-heat blow dryer + towel with no harsh rubbing, and put my hair in a loose bun when working out (daily). I'm also using a Tek brush which has helped tremendously for detangling and spreading oils, so I'm noticing a MASSIVE change in my hair health, but it's not quite where I want it to be. It would be great to have a video that directly approaches my hair type with guidance so I don't have to click through 6+ videos to understand what I should be doing.
    Thank you!

When I was using conditioners it would get dry and or just get oily constantly. Im not saying do the same because yours may be different. When I stopped it was oily for a few days then it was almost like it balanced out.

Very true about learning your hair type changes as it grows. I always kept my hair short so I thought it was straight. Nope, turns out it was wavy when I let it grow a bit. Okay, that's fine. I'll change my hair styling for wavy. Nope, a few months later it's actually curly. Huff.
Not that I mind curly hair, I'd say hair is at the 2B/2C hair type. Possibly 3A if I find the right curling product. But his words are true, take your time in getting to know your hair type.

I wanted to share this points that I realized in growing my hair into mid length:
1.) use shampoo once or twice a week only! (If u have oily scalp probably three times a week)
2.) grow the sides and trim ur sideburns depending on your face shape.
3.) always trim ur beard! (Will alsoe depends on ur face shape and beard type)

    • @spartan456
      @spartan456 Před 11 měsíci +1

Other useful advice: if you have an oily scalp, consider dry shampoo over washing it fully more than necessary. Dry shampoos are meant to be sprayed on oily areas only, and then gently worked into the hair by hand. This will keep your hair looking clean and feeling/smelling fresh, without the risk of doing a full wash way too early and potentially ruining the overall look of your hair.

A wavy hair video would be awesome. I have 2b-2c wavy hair, have not cut it for 14 months straight (I had an undercut before) and I love the look when I don't brush it, but I don't want it to tangle or built a lot of oil so I brush it first thing in the morning and before going to sleep. Your tips will be much appreciated, as all your videos. You were the trigger to make the decision to let my hair grow and I love it. Also want to know how to have a little more texture or shine. I feel like it look boring when I don't have it in a bun (maybe hair oil can help?) and it still goes a bit to the sides probably because I have a lot of hair. Just to give you a idea of how long it is, the back falls almost into my mid-back and the sides almost to my shoulders, but since it is wavy, it looks a bit shorter.

But even with it being near shoulder length, the individual hairs are so fine, they're light weight, so the curls make them stick out instead of dropping. But my entire life my parents forced me to buzz my head, when I turned like 15 they stopped buzzing my head and would compromise with me, and by compromise I mean they would let my hair grow longerish and then cut everything short where it should be long and everything long where it should be short while screaming at me and gaslighting me saying "we'Re cOmpRomiSing" while I desperately tried to tell them they were not and they were just ruining my hair 😂 Anyways since I was always forced to have the most god aweful ugly hair known to man now that I'm an adult I don't know wtf I'm doing or how to work with hair at all.
