I typically do this kind of hairstyle on Day 2 of my hair being curly :) I only showed it from beginning to end so there wasn't any confusion, but yes, Day 2 is my day for this usually. Which REALLY makes it a 3 minute hair-do! ;)

I actually wanted to say thank you my white mother had straight hair and my father from Honduras unfortunately she never learn how to take care of my curly hair and so my sister and I went to the good old bun for years this video has helped me embrace my natural curls and how to tame without the frizz thank you will pass on to my sissy.

Not only do I envy your hair incredibly, I also really envy the fact that you can wear your hair in a ponytail without getting a headache. It takes all of about 15 minutes for me. Not being able to wear my hair up without pain has really limited my hairstyles.

Hi! Yes, it is naturally wavy and doing that does help to make it much more curly. There were a few ladies further down the comments who have hair like yours that tried this technique and it did make their hair more wavy, so it's worth a try! I don't think it'd be as curly, but I believe it would add great volume to your hair. :) Thanks for asking!
Wonderful Style and How-To techniques!!! My hair tends to be wavy most of the time...but certainly curlier if it's summer/humid. I think I could do this if I sleep in a damp french braid...then do your towel/scrunching technique in the AM....or maybe curl the hair before styling. Just gorgeous....and pretty easy to do!!!! Love your videos and approach! I kept trying this hairstyle and I kept over pinning. (I just couldn't help myself:). But I figured out an even easier way to do this hairstyle (for me). After making a pony tail, smoosh all the hair against the back of the head, just the same as you did, then use a round claw clip to clip it all over the pony tail. Then adjust the style by pulling out pieces to make it bigger and cover the clip...you can make it as messy looking as you want to and it has the same great result as your style. You can pull out the pieces of hair partially or completely to achieve the shape you want. I wouldn't have thought of this without your great ideas and fantastic instructions.
I have curly hair as well and have always been told to never use a towel when scrunching and drying. I always just use a tshirt. It really helps keep mine from frizzing. Maybe try it and see if you can tell a difference. :)

Yeah, the towel drying is a step that is usually done when the hair is first made to be curly. This hairstyle is one I'll usually wear with Day 2 of this kind of hairstyle. So the updo part is quick and easy :) I just wanted to be sure to show all the steps. You could try it with a diffuser, most definitely. That might help speed it up - it depends on the thickness of your hair too as to how fast it'll dry. For me, it's 30 mins. :)
DO NOT USE A TOWEL...it will frizz your hair like crazy!!!! It works so much better if you do all of that but instead of using a towel use a soft T-shirt it will work so much better I GUARENTEE YOU that's what I do when I get out of the shower too, just trust me on this one

just fyi, using an old plain t-shirt instead of a towel also reduces frizz, and if you buy a yard of cotton jersey, you can twist it tight at your hairline and use a claw clip to close it up loosely so your hair can dry less disturbed with even less frizz, and WAY less effort!
your hair is exactly the same as mine! same colour does the same thing when dryed using a hair dryer and the curles are about the same curliness! i have been searching high and low for a hair tutorial which works for curly hair!! thank youu ahah oxoxo
