This song is dedicated to all who have gone through depression, sorrow, heart break, trials and tribulations that have led to clouded minds and a mental space of darkness.
This bilingual song acknowledges these hardships and empathises with unity! It's okaye to ask for help and if you know someone who is struggling, all it may take is simply reaching out!
We are human, composed by Maimoa Music
Recorded with No Filters Studio, visuals produced entirely by Maimoa
Huge gratitude to everyone involved in this project from the behind the scenes, recording sound and film, VOOF, Turanga Merito, No Filter Studios, Cilla Ruha, CINCO CINE, Wai 2 Ltd, Mauri Media.
    STAR ACTOR: Krystal-Lee Brown
    LYRICS:
    V1:
    Non existent and numb
    Anaesthetics kicked in
    I want to sleep in
Are you a victim of creation?
    PRE-1
I'm fighting for the smallest silver of hope
    Suffocating in the shaddows
    Finding my air to breathe
To release the truth of me
    CHORUS:
    Look in to my eyes
    I understand I'll empathise
    Together we'll stand
    You don't have to hide
    Just take my hand
    Because we, we are human
    V2:
Oh broken mirror on the wall
As I lay in the pieces on the floor
A silent cry, slowly tearing me apart
Will I be able to survive?
    PRE-2
I'm fighting for the smallest silver of hope
    Suffocating in the shaddows
    Finding my air to breathe
To release the truth of me
    CHORUS:
    Look in to my eyes
    I understand I'll empathise
    Together we'll stand
    You don't have to hide
    Just take my hand
    Because we, we are human
    BRIDGE:
    Kei hea taku kahu toroa
maiaorere hei kaupare i te kino?
    Kei hea taku whetū kanapu
    hei arahi, arataki i ahau?
    CHORUS:
    Look in to my eyes
    I understand I'll empathise
    Together we'll stand
    You don't have to hide
    Just take my hand
Because we, we are human x3

I lost my brother to suicide and I struggle so much trying to understand what he was going through before he left us. If only he asked for help! This song wasn't able to help my brother but it definitely helped me let out my grief. Thank you so so much for creating such a beautiful song.

I've been there, battled addiction, homelessness and depression, starved, spent birthdays and Christmases alone staring at the ceiling when I had a roof over my head, all while living overseas, all with no family support. I came out the other side though and better for it.

My dad tried to take his life when I was young but luckily my mum was there just in time and lifted him up before he went through with it so who ever is reading this just remember God put you on this earth for a reason and if anyone tries to put you down for it they ant gonna get any where in life you are loved so don't forget that

I balled my eyes out when I first watched this...It makes me wonder what my loved ones had gone through before they took their own lives. Ive been so low but Im so blessed to have the will power within me to always pick myself back up. This Song always reminds me to be as kind as i can because you never know what somebody is going through Look after one another. Watch for the signs. Drop the Ego. Lift the heart xx

This is a good representation of mental illness, depression & anxiety. The dark space, tiredness, room messy, no caring about physical appearance. I absolutely understand this. And with love hope everyone else does too. This has powerful meanings behind this both video and lyrics.

This is something I’m sure my mom is going through right now, but I’m not there to help her. I’m in adoption, only 13. I wish to be by her side. I wish I understood what she is going through, I wish for my siblings, I, and parents to be together. My dad, I don’t really know, I love him but he really needs to get his act together and get on the right track. This has not happened only once but throughout my whole life. It’s heartbreaking, but I think that I don’t suffer more than what my parents are suffering through. While my dad and mom our on the streets, I’m in a home, I have a phone, I have money, I have so much, and I’d trade in everything just to be together as a family again. I have 5 siblings, and I’m the oldest. I have to make sure to put on the right act in order for my younger siblings to be happy and make good and right choices, I have to teach them the right ways, I don’t want them going through what my parents and I had to go through EVER in their lives.

I was self harming and had thoughts of ending it all before I was told I was suffering from depression, that was four years ago. I am still suffering but no longer self harm due to friends and antidepressants, each day is a struggle but it's one day away from. Felt this song str8 away it's so powerful and very true, alot of our people r suffering inside and desperately looking for help but don't know how to get the help they need because they are unsure if they r right or wrong to even feel the way they do , they feel confused and scared, uncertain about whats happening within themselves 😔 . Saddens me that a few to many take their lives because alot of us cant see the suffering and struggle within themselves, OPEN OUR EYES AND READ BETWEEN THE LINES AND LOOK FOR TELL TALE SIGNS

Been suffering my depression for years...1st attempt of suicide I was 6...taken off my mother who was an alcoholic and abusive and neglected me on my 9th bday....By God's grace I'm still here...people think because I'm kind that I haven't experienced nothing...but truth be told the best people I know have suffered the most! True victims wouldn't go out of their way to kick another person down just like those who know true suffering.. would not make another suffer. I'm now 25. If you think being kind and judging people rightfully isn't important THINK AGAIN..You never know what ANYONE is going through! Never judge a book by its cover...just cause someone holds themselves well doesn't mean they aren't suffering it just means they're strong...so be kind!

@Hey It's Sam, people are gonna dislike.. though I know where your coming from. Perhaps it's those who have not overcome their depression and this song triggers something evil in them.. And it's mostly teen Maori who take on th victim mentality through to adulthood unless it is overcome.

This song is my go to. Especially during my days where suicide is heavy on mind. Today is one of those days. And it’s been in hour into this song playing in a loop. & honestly, I AM struggling. My heart is broken , my mind is confused. I feel so alone. Reaching out isn’t an option, I want to feel the way I feel because I want that push. I want to feel unwanted, so when it comes to doing what my heart & mind urges for, I won’t have any regret.

I'm thinking that.. everything will be nothing in the end.. the more i live the more i love the more painful it becomes.. i lost all my immediate family one by one since i was toddler and finally alone at 14.. life is exhausting, very much.. although blessed with such a good friend who stays for so long.. I'm starting to feel like living again..and yet here i am thinking like this again
