I got some lithops from Lowe’s last year (6-7 months ago now). I fully expected them to die since they are my first try at lithops. After a while I did examine their roots and found they were pretty bad... followed your videos and cleaned them up, repotted in gritty mix and began watering slightly more (gave them a few sprays of misted water near the medium about once per week or two). They’ve really started looking great and begun splitting/blooming.
Just wanted to say thank you for your advice and help on how to “read” a lithops. Your constant reminder that they grow so very slow you have plenty of time to catch things, make adjustments, check and find answers when things don’t look right has been a huge help!

Hi Ashley. I am new to lithops and have watched every one of your videos. I ordered 5 baby lithops from etsy and was told they were 1 -2 yrs old back in March. I lost 1 within a month and now another has gone mushy. :/
I read that young lithops need different care than established blooming lithops. I know quite a lot of people start of their "lil butt" addiction by ordering these young bare rooted babies online and there's not much information I can find on how to actually care for them, besides the piece of paper that came with them saying to water them every 3 weeks and to give them 5 hrs of sun.
Could you please make a video on how to care for these wonderful babies so us newbies have a fighting chance to raise these 1-2 yr olds into adulthood?
Thank you so much for all your videos and for all the time you put in to educate us. You are wonderful!

I know this is old, but oh yeah, that's spider mites. If you get rid of the mites on plants like these they'll recover. If you get out a magnifying glass you can see them.

So glad you put this video up. I also have a pleiospilos nelii that seems to be "stuck". Never considered that it didn't like my gritty mix. Will rework that mix and see if it likes it better. Thanks!

Great update. I only have a couple of lithops and I would live to see them bloom one day. Thanks for sharing your wonderful collection.

Hi Ashley ... discovered your CZcams channel when searching for a solution to ridding my budding succulent collection of an aphid infestation... think I may have mealy bugs as well.. Your love of plants and succulents in particular evident in every minute .. I have a particular interest in aeoniums and couldn't find any reference to them in your videos.. Would love to see a video on them if you have any in your collection.. Wishing you the very best in your struggles with your health.. Wayne Hiebert - Victoria B.C.

Thank you for sharing! Helps identify problems in future. I lost a lot of lithops after first sunburn. 😞

I’m sorry if this has been addressed 🤔. Just looking for a ballpark idea how long it will take a newly repotted bare root lithops to establish? I received several that per the seller were getting ready to flower. They are acquiring new roots, and none are split, but just wondering how much I can expect their routine to be disrupted?

You mentioned dowsing the little ones in alcohol a couple times earlier too. Would you be willing to elaborate how, why and when to do that?
Having murdered, saved and grown a few I recently discovered tiny webs around a pot of seedlings. I treat my other guys with neem oil regularly, but it quickly started spreading, including the adult. I freaked out, washed and sprayed everyone sooner than they needed to be watered. Now I’m afraid my adults might pop because of all the excess water :(
How do you deal with different types of infestations?
Many thanks for sharing your informed wisdom!!!

Have you ever tried to recover anything in just a lot of sand? If so how did that work out? I have a lithop that the outer leaves got soggy and I had to take them off but the rest are fine for now, I hope it doesn't die. Thank you for your vids.

I just purchased my first round of lithops, and Im very paranoid cause I really want them to survive. So, i followed your videos about lithops care and root trimming, and decided to start there. I had got all of the soil out, and when i began to trim the roots, i realized that A LOT of the roots were very dry, and seemed pretty dead. They barely had a root system, and already I became nervous. I repotted in a very loose soil, and gave a small bit of water, then i got even more nervous cause i thought it would get root rot. Now theyre in a dry mix, and ive been afraid of touching or watering it after. Should I leave it dry for a week or 2, or should I give some water, and what about scratches or punctures?
Sorry for the very long comment, ive just been very nervous about it. Thank you!

I enjoy your knowledge and channel but really hate your camera, it hurts my eyes to focus even after I raise the settings. I have watched a lot of your lithop videos and learned a lot, but the zoom and shadowing randomly changes just to let you know. ❤️👏

Rebecca Bush I’m sorry I can’t take comments like this seriously. If a polite greeting turns you off so much you can’t even watch the video, then obviously this is not the right channel for you!
