While I was in the "Flap System" I changed the numbers for the Elevator% to give some down Elevator to prevent ballooning with Flaperons down.At the bottom of the "Flap System" is "Servo Speed". It only effects the Ailerons & Elevator when using the assigned Flaperon Switch. It is to allow slowing the Flaperon functions to prevent abrupt changes. I set mine to 2.0 Seconds🤓
bro this was the video ive been searching for a LONGG time ... thank you!!!
👍🏻 Most informative video yet on this subject!!! Thank you for posting. I've always wanted to know why this had so many ways to do in spectrum DX8 G2 never really understood until now !! Very easy to understand by this video
Mike Remvidas thanks
10:17 Make Ailerons act as FLAPS! Just what I needed to see. Great video. Thanks
Excellent video, so clear with the split screen approach, particularly the flaperons section!
exactly what I was looking for and the only one who explains it well. thanks much!
Dexxex D Thanks, I am glad that it helped
Really nice job on explaining & demonstrating how everything works.
Great walk through with transmitter menu clearly shown as well as the servo effects. Thanks
Thank you for the well demonstrated tutorial. It gave me the exact info I needed to give my F-16 flaperons! Now maybe it won't have to come in so hot.
Thanks my friend. So much clearer than written instructions.
Thanks again for this video. I am so glad I saved it...I was especially interested in all three subjects. Flaps was a bonus for me.
Great Job Sir! Keep up the good work! I’m gratefully subscribed to your channel. Your technical, and communication skills are a benefit to the R/C aircraft community!
Nice video. I was looking for this type of information because I want to change my build to a dual aileron setup. Very helpful
Excellent video! Very helpful in an area on my radio that is a complete mystery. Thanks for the video.
Jim Goodwin I am glad that I could help
Thanks for taking the time to help...excellent tutorial.
Jack Shaughnessy thank you, I am glad that it helped understanding the various versions on aileron setups.
Thank you so much! Hours of knowledge and so well explained!
😮The best explained video to the begginers user as I am
I have seen too many videos like That but only you have the ability to learn to us your knowledge. Thanks very much.
Excellent video! thanks for helping me set up flaperons on my dx-9!
Very helpful video. I was able to see exactly what I was doing wrong with my project. Thanks for taking the time to make this video kind sir. 🙏
Thank you, my plane is now setup with your help.
Great video! Thank you for explaining this so well!
Glad that it helped , thanks for watching.
Thank u for ur help.. Made it very simple to understand
You are a master. Thanks so much , it is well understood. Good luck my friend
Very good explanation, Thank you
Thanks,learned exactly what I needed!
Excellent explanation, thank you.
That was very helpful cheers 👍
Thanks got flapperons now for my glider All the best Barry.
Thanks for your video Gorazd. I used it today to set up my flaperons on my Pilot-1 arf Stinson Voyager. I use a little up elevator mix for the flaps which I have on 3 position switch C on my DX8-G2, So for position 0 it is 0% flap 0% Elev, Position 1 it is -60% flap and 5% elev., and for switch position 2 full flaps it is -100 flap and 15% elev. I use 2 seconds delay. I must now fly it to see how it reacts. Maybe it will be no snow, no rain, no wind and above 40F in a couple of days so I can try it. Thank you again! PS: you did not say to set up "dual airlerons" first then set up flaperons. But I followed your instructions and it worked great. I also set up (per the instruction manual) dual throw limits for the Up and Down on the airlerons. I kept a little motion in reserve so that I would have good airleron authority. I set up the throws and checked everything out in High rate which is what I use for landings and take offs. Great video!
i have a fly sky radio, but your video explained something for me that i have not understood ! thanks so much .
Thanks!! Video is perfect !
You are you are the first video that actually explains everything in detail other guys just talk through it mention something but don't explain what that something is I'm a newbie I've never used the controller in the air I've never got anything off the ground that made sense to me could you do a complete setup or do you have a complete setup video for the dx6i I'm having a hell of a time with my helicopters I can't that controllers confusing to me but thank you for helping me set up my plane I still need more though I don't know the percentages and stuff
Excellent video.
Excellent movie, thanks
Great video. Thanks mate. Cheers.
Would you please put together a video set up a carbon-Z Cessna? I'm having trouble getting the flaps to work. When I turn it on flaps go down 100% and I have tried to set them at different rates but no movement. I have watched a ton of videos but can't find one. I have a specktrum DX8 Gen 2.
Great job thank you
yay, I got it!!!!!
Thanks for sharing👍👍
Well done. Thank You !!!
Thank-you for posting. Up till now, I’ve only built rudder, elevator models. I’m going to cut some ailerons into one of my wings and discover a new way to crash!
Thank you for the great video. If doing flaperons, can you still mix in down elevator to keep from ballooning?
Of course you can.
Thank you
when he is talking on the single servo procedure there are many ways to adjust centering on the flight control 1... release the clevis and screw in or out on it. 2.. verify that the servo horn are centered correctly or staggered if needed when it comes to aileron differential.. 3... mechanical centering is always key to maiden flight if you do it that way and your radio decides to fault ...you better be ready to hold on for a wild ride
Thank you !
You should not use sub-trim unless absolutely necessary. Make the mechanical adjustments first. Especially important when using a flight stabilizer. Your servo movements will not be equal away from center. Also, Right aileron needs to be connected to the aileron channel on the receiver, and left to channel 6 according to the manual.
Finally someone properly explains it.
Also, one question, couldn't you initially set up the flaps on two channels, like in your second method, subtrim each servo, then move both servos onto 1 channel using the Y connector?
That is possible too, but then you must install flap servos equally , not opposite like on ailerons. Y cable will subtrim both at once since it is one channel. Big models use separate channels for each flap servo, but smaller planes use Y cable. Subtrim is done by adjusting the control rods in that case. I hope you understand what I mean, english is not my mother tongue.
@@neutrno ah sorry, this is my fault, when I said flaps in my question, I meant ailerons.
@@The-ch1rz No, you are trimming channel, not the servo. Servo doesn't have its own memory that can remember trim setup.
@@neutrno yea, that makes quite a bit of sense, thanks for your help.
This is a great video. Can I change the wing setup to flaperons on an already programmed model or do I have to create a new model setup? This is on the DX7S. Thanks, Chuck
Hi. Yes you can. But to be sure, copy or backup current setup and then make changes.
How can i program the ailerons and elevator to both move up and down with the elev stick? For doing Tail Touches and mini loops. I know i need this function on a switch BUT HOW? Have seen it on vidoes but cant figure it out. It's an old school FUN FLY move. Thanks for any help.
@ibbob31 you will have to create 2 mixes ELE->LAIL and ELE->RAIL I suppose, never done that so I just guess
Have the DX 8 Tranmitter and . a F16 jet from Motion RC with surface selection: 2 aileron servos and 2 elevator servos (normal)! If I set in the Transmitter of 2 ailerons on Flaperon Normal the following happens: ..... If I press the flap switch of 0 at 1 or 2 but the left aileron goes down and the right up and not down both !! I can not say what to do ..? ….…..what am I doing wrong ..? I look forward to your help!
great video, when you set up flaperons, do you use a y-harness or put them on separate channels? Is the only advantage for the separate channels is so you can subtrim the ailerons?
thanks
Gene Sultan as described in video, separate channels. With Y cable you can't make flaperons 😁. And yes , you have more control for ailerons when they are on separate channels
Very informative video. Can flaperons be setup using the "Y" harness?
No, that is not possible
thanks!
What is the best transmitter from spekrum dx9 and spekrum dx18 for rc airbus ?
Depends on your setup, scale of a plane and channels needed. I think that DX9 is quite enough for majority of RC planes (I had 40 of them and DX9 was capable enough), but if you can afford newer generation of transmitters like iX12 from Spektrum, I would go for that.
a very nice explanation with step by step pictures and demonstrations!!! .....QUESTION: has anyone had any experience setting up and using flaperons on planes with wing tip only type ailerons and the AS3X / SAFE AR631 6-channel receivers...I have the newer e-flight Trojan -28 and the older e-flight Pulse 15e , which tends to come in a little hot.....thanks
I never use receivers with stabilisation, it just kills the joy of flying (and crashing) planes 😁
@@neutrno LOL , I understand your joy........., but do you have an opinion about setting up a low wing plane ( Pulse 15e with only wing tip ailerons ) with flaperons? .......I am looking for a way to slow the plane down at landing , but was wondering if it tends to make the wing unstable.........thanks
@@garyvale8347 Try with smaller amount of flaperons and do several test flights, then increase. IMHO never go over 30-35% flaperons for low wing plane..., there is no exact amount for any model, just try one value (e.g. 10%) and do test flight, then increase by 5% until you are satisfied
@@neutrno got it.....I'll give it a try and see if some down defection on both ailerons will help slow it down....maybe I will set up multiple flaperon settings ( 30% - 50% ) and try this at altitude on a calm day and see how it handles.....thanks
I have a top wing plane and was checking it for flight and found that the ailerons were in flap mode don't know how that happened. how do I get the ailerons back to being just ailerons?
If you have connected each aileron servo on separate receiver channels than just reverse one in radio setup. If they are connected via Y cable to a single receiver channel, you will need servo reverser for one aileron servo..
Is there any way you could do a video set up from start to finish dx6i airplane with dual ailerons and just walk through it real fast like you have to do the the props and everything I'm good with all that now just walk me through the controller start to finish dx6i if you can would be wonderful I cannot get this thing setup I would love you forever
I am out of this hobby for 2 years so my answer is no, sorry.
Problem with this setup in Safe mode: only the flaperon plugged into AIL port ff my AR631 will move when I hold the plane upsidedown. The flaperon plugged into port 6 does not respond. Why? Can I fix this? Or does Safe send Safe commands only to Original primary control ports 1 , 2 and 3 Aileron, Elevator and Rudder??
I wouldn't know , I never used receivers with stabilization in my planes. That is lack of fun for me ;)
I suppose you need to program it for flaperon function with some program card or interface to assign 2 channels for ailerons and flaperon type.
Great video, man - so clear. I wonder, are spoilerons and ailerons the same thing?
No, spoilerons are air breaks that you can find on large gliders and they are mounted inside the wing. Spoilerons pop out of the wings from the upper side.
@@neutrno Thanks for taking the time to explain. In the meantime I've watching some great video about spoilerons (some of yours) - and I think I get it. Thanks again - great video!!!
I am trying this setup on Conscendo Evo 1.5 with AS3X /safe and no luck. My switch D 3 position (flap) is controlling ailerons in opposite directions and aileron stick moving both ailerons in same direction either up or down. What am I doing wrong here?
Well I never had AS3X receiver, so I think that you will need someting to program receiver itself since it is not just a receiver like ordinary one. These receivers are with stabilisation and they use AIL channel for both ailerons.
@@neutrno thanks for the reply. I got it to work with same instruction s as provided here. I just had to reverse some wires/servo to 6th Aux channel. I can't use Safe however with this setup but have AS3X at all times.
You might also want to mix in a little down elevator
Hi
1-How do you add Trim-up to elevator when you deploy Flaperone (because the plane will rise) ?
2-How do you Trim-up to V-tail when you deploy Flaperone ?
3-Can you make the Flaperone deflect UP instead of DOWN ?
Thanks
Hi.
1. you have ELEV parameter in the same menu with % value next to flap(pause video at 12:34 and you will see), that is how you trim down or up elevator, depends if you add positive or negative percentage.
2. same as 1.
3. yes, as you can see in my video I have deployed flaperons to -42% and -60 %. Just use positive deployment (e.g. +60%) and they will go UP.
@@neutrno Thanks, worked like a charm.
I need help, I’m trying to set up ailerons as well as the flaps. But I want the ailerons to work as flaperons too
Huh...you will need to create certain mix or maybe two of them, for each aileron when you deploy flaps. There is somewhere on RcGroups forum complete glider setup where crow(ailerons up when flaps deployed) is explained for Spektrum radios. Try searching there. I read about it there 6 years ago.
Hello I need help I have a Fury 15 with ar636a took y connection put 1 aileron in port 6 and other in aileron chanel everything work fine but only on 1 side ...?
You should use only AIL channel on that receiver since it is AS3X receiver. just connect Y cable to AIL port and aileron servos to that Y cable.
so I can't put flaperons ?
I have a DX6
Kalimero T5 doesn't matter, it is the receiver issue
Ok Thanks appreciate the info now its clear
!
I had a lot of chattering in my ral.....I installed another servo....but both als move together in the same direction...acting like a elevator....
Why my flpas servos are not even. It does start even in neutral, it twisted on middle position and still twist on 3er flaps position
Aldo Allende Oliva hi, well there can be several issues, cheap servos, 2 servos are from different manufacturers....etc. That is why I prefer to have each servo connected to its dedicated channel on receiver, then I can adjust everything for each servo ( servl travel, subtrim...etc).
I try 1 pair from 1 brand that are identical and I did the same with another brand that both servos are the same, I have 1 channel per servos and finally I try different receiver and it still not lane up
Check your servo travels in radio settings, maybe there is a problem.Did you center both servos ? I really wouldn't know, I never had that kind of problems :(
If you or anyone else of your fans could advise me to buy a 6ch transmitter for my first aeroplane I will appreciate.
I suggest that you invest in transmitter more money, it will serv you for many years. Possible choices are Radiomaster multiprotocol radios, they are not so expensive and have all you will ever need.
My old tutorial about radio transmitters can be found here:
rchobbybeginandfly.blogspot.com/2017/04/before-we-begin-you-must-decide-how.html?m=1
i have an quick question... without programming the transmitter ; will ailerons function opposite if a "Y cable" is used every time?
Blaze Gamer that depends on mounting of your servos. If they are mounded opposite to each other like in the video then yes..
ohhh i didnt realise they were mounted opposite, ok now everything makes sense, a y cable doesnt do shit it only allows two servos on one channel, but doesnt putting it to dual aileron mode reverse the servos?
Blaze Gamer yes that is right, y cable connects 2 servos to 1 channel, all changes you make to that channel affects both of them, and it ony works if they are mounted opposite on ailerons, if you have a 2 servos on elevator, or flaps, that is different story, y cable requires certain servo mount rules. I always use dual aileron or flaperon setup on my planes.
alright thank you so much, im quite new to this and i think using 2 servos for ailerons is probably the biggest pothole any beginner in the hobby experiences, especially that all ailerons require an opposite movement to function

Does it work on dx6?
Yes, I had DX6i 10 years ago, same lrocedure as with DX9
Da je bio prije ima bi jednog dx.
Prvi! :D
Lol “benefits and minuses” why can’t I find an American English speaking video on this topic lol
Well, I am Croatian, and English is not my mother tongue, if you can do better please do, and try to make explanation in Croatian language please 😉
I’m an asshole sorry
My flaps are stuck down and only move with right aleron. Tried for 4 hours to figure out the radio. Nothing i do helps
