- Brian Stanley was diagnosed with retinoblastoma when he was 6 years old. After years of wearing a prosthetic eye, Stanley used his skills as an engineer to create what he calls a "cyborg eye."

@@captainflowers748 if i lost my depth perception I would always feel a bit insecure. I use depth perception like 99.5% of my life i'd be at a huge disadvantage if I lost it I always do what I can to protect my eyes.

I am impressed! He also mentioned a few problems with losing an eye and I recognize and empathize with him because I didn't lose an eye - I just went blind in one. And I got sick of people saying, "Oh yeah, but you still have one good eye so no problem". Wrong. So much changes. It took me, at 59 years old, 2 years to fully adapt. As Brian said, so much to process. Just watching him with the original prosthetic eye and his amazing modifications, makes me envious. Because of a small sliver of light still coming in on the left side of my left eye, that is where my eye points. It makes me look whacky...well, whackier. But I'm wondering...is Brian is considering marketing his product?
Hello. I also lost one of my eye in an accident. For a while i have been thinking about this idea for a prosthetic eye but getting a small led and battery is a bit of a challenge. Can you tell me where you got the lights. Im thinking of making it using resin.

Kids adapt much quicker than adults do. Losing an eye at age 6 is a lot different than losing one at almost 60. At this point he's gone without an eye for most of his life.

My dad is blind in one eye due a childhood accident, he still has his original eye, but if he ever get a prosthetic he should totally get a flashlight like this guy

This is especially historically cool because Plato believed that visual perception used "eye beams" - your eye shot out beams that bounced off things and back into the eye. Now we know that the eye doesn't shoot beams at all - it just collects photons. Except this guy's; he has one eye that shoots the photons out and one that collects them. For the first time in history, Plato was right on this. For just this one guy.
