    Got it. I give someone U.S. currency to buy their bitcoin(s) because bitcoin has genuine market value. And the person selling me bitcoin wants my (foolish & outdated) currency even though it is not as advantageous as bitcoin. And in the end "handlers"all along the way each take a little cut. Oh, and I also have to be up to speed on every imaginable cyber-crime perpetrated by professionals who are far more knowledgeable than I am and who specialize in bitcoin scams.

      Coinbase is US-based, yes, but has a UK division as far as I know. However, you will always pay lower bank charges if you avoid sending money internationally. I'm sure there's a Bitcoin exchange which uses bank accounts local to your country, especially if you're in the UK or EU. For the EU, I would recommend Bitstamp, as it's probably the longest-running Bitcoin exchange in existence and has had relatively few / minor problems over the years.

    so far I have never once heard anyone say that investing in US Dollars is a risky asset and don't plan on holding and US Dollar with any amount that you don't expect these US dollars to go to a value of zero.
    this is the problem.

    Let me get this straight. If I want to withdraw the coins, It gets mailed to my house? It's not actual cash that I can deposit straight to my bank account?? Say I later decide to sell the coins, is it cash that I'm receiving, that I can now deposit straight to my bank account? And the "bitcoin wallet", is it the same process for Ether or litecoin? Imma need a Ether wallet or litecoin wallet??

    The so-called decentralized is not really decentralized, it just changes the central government to the "Exchange". Am I correct?

      No, what happens is that every time you try to buy a bit coin, all the servers across the planet verify your purchase. The process starts this race among thousands of servers to solve a puzzle. The first computer to solve the puzzle publishes it. And your bitcoin gets added to a big block of transactions.

    Damn near impossible to buy bitcoin. I have tried using Binance, and CoinMama... Keep getting blown out by the verification process. Coinmama says my Dl # is not valid (same number I have used for 26 years); and Binance says the camera photo of me is not recognized (hey - it's the only face I've got.
    These were $50 of bitcoin and $50 of bitcoin cash....
    IF it's this fffing hard just to BUY it - how are you EVER going to use it, get it back, or sell it...

    Thanks to the informative videos. Do u recommend buying Bitcoin cash from Robinhood? Also why is Bitcoin Cash price keeps going up while Bitcoin price went dow a bit? Shouldn’t they move on the same level?

    • @RecoveringAtheist
      @RecoveringAtheist Před 3 lety +3

      I haven't used Robinhood for buying cryptocurrencies, but most likely they will hold your private keys. Which means they have full control over your funds. This might be okay for small amounts in the short term, but if it's a long-term, buy and hold investment for you your coins should be kept in a paper wallet or a secure digital wallet where you hold the private keys. Similar to why you shouldn't keep funds on a cryptocurrency exchange for an extended period of time. It just increases the odds that someone will steal your funds or some government entity will lock your funds.
      For your 2nd question, aside from both being similar cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash will have completely different price points because they are completely separate blockchains and projects being run by completely different people. It's the same as comparing Bitcoin to Ethereum or Litecoin. All are cryptocurrencies, but each one has their own blockchain, computer code, developers, etc.

    Please explain. If the entire world adopts Bitcoin as a store of value like gold, e g. held not traded, and there are only 20ML bitcoins to ever exist, how can 20ML bitcoins be owned by billions of people? When bitcoin was at a dollar, wouldn't a single buy of $21ml have purchased all the bitcoins there would ever be? Obviously I am not understanding something, so please consider a video to explain. Thanks for the great videos .
