I bought my Road King brand new in 1997 tried to turn it into an FXR. I stripped everything I could off of it! 26 years later on building the FXR of my dreams.

The beauty of the Road King is that you can ride it without a windscreen, as it should be. Can’t do that anymore.
I’ve had same dilemma. I have a 18 RK Classic and ride her without a shield. However, after any long rides I’m pretty exhausted. Plans for the future calls for longer rides and maybe even ride out to sturgis from CA. The conclusion I’ve came to is add a fairing to my RK and pick up an old shovel. That way I get best of both worlds
@@JamesMatthew-Zero79 or do a removable windshield or a dyna style fairing put it on for trip pull of for the road.
