- RefGuess is back! In this season, a select few Jomboy Media office members compete to gain points by guessing players based only on their Baseball Reference stat page. Each one guessed correctly is worth one point. If the player guesses all three correctly they advance to the trivia round. Guessing the trivia question correctly is worth two points for a grand total of five possible points per episode. The most points at the end of the season wins bragging rights and a The RefGuess Trophy.
This week's theme: Players who share birthdays with RefGuess contestants

The theme goes out the window with player 1, that’s hilarious.
Lol
first guess, already wrong lmfaoooo
too funny
5:18 "Hey babe! I got 15th in MVP voting this year!"
"That's great, honey!"
I miss Dan.
I miss watching Dan try to get hard so much
Is Dan no longer a part of the team?
yeah, he got a new job
"That's great babe. who are you again?"
I saw who super Hard was within seconds and my heart sank. That was a tough day
Same 😢
Still remember the day Kyle passed before a Cubs game when Girardi announced the game was cancelled.
I had no idea Bonilla had that good of a career honestly. Nailed most of these got the rios one instantly and shocked myself.
Complete opposite here - got Bonilla instantly, never got Rios.
Got all but Rios.
RIP Darryl Kile. Got him instantly.
Me too! Great player
I only get the Cardinals. RIP
Alex Rios mentioned 👏
Great arm, good hitter. Underrated career.
The exchange at 13:33 is gold
Happy Bday Jolly Olive. Thank you for all the content.
Can't believe Max Manus whiffed on Bobby Bo after getting so many obscure players
Ref guess makes me feel old. I have to think about the recent ones but got Kile and Bonilla instantly.
Same and I'm only 29
@@JohnReedy07163 this and immaculate grid make me feel so old
Poor Jake, feel bad that know one remembered his birthday
Oh thats everybodys favorite Met. They celebrate a holliday for the guy every year.
Bobby Bonilla day!
Happy birthday jolly! Thanks for all the amazing content over the years. Here's to many more!
You guys should partner with MLB and license this game (similar to jackbox) where a bunch of bros in a room can connect their phones and it’ll generate a random baseball reference page on a tv/computer screen and you have to type the answer. My buddies and I watch these and turn it into a drinking game all the time. I’d buy it right away if it was turned into an actual game. You can create an easy/medium/hard points system as well similar to how you do it here.
Would never had gotten Darryl Kyle, but I'll never forget that moment. Listening to the Cubs on 720 on my back deck when the news came through the game was cancelled
This is awesome because I think of Alex Rios ALL THE TIME. Talk about a beautiful swing and this dude ran like a gazelle!!!
the mediums are always harder than the hards, i got Darrell Kyle but didnt get Rios
Happy birthday Jolly! Thanks for all the fantastic content and baseball appreciation
This Max vs. Jake battle is gonna be intense the entire year, and I am so here for it
Awe man, I was watching that Cards vs Cubs series in 2002 when they announced Darryl Kile passed from that Coronary disease. He was a monster those 2 and a half seasons in St. Louis. I was only 8 and the Cubs were my NL team since I lived in Michigan and was a Tribe fan growing up.
Happy birthday, Jolly! Quarter of a century old now?
Anyways, the fact that Max didn't get Bobby Bonilla is a sign we need a 90s All-Star round! (Yes I'll keep nominating this theme until we get it)
RIP Darryl Kile (1968-2002)
[The image of you sliding the piece of paper to Joez after he says "Oh so we get the points" is an all-timer moment.]
That last one is evil in multiple ways!
I like these ones with older players. I vividly remember Bonilla's erratic third base days with Pittsburgh.
4:39: Oh wow!! That’s my birthday too!! 😂😂
4:51: It literally took me half a second to think of who it was because he’s the first guy I think of when I think of baseball players who I share a birthday with.
Share a birthday with you Jake. Been watching a long time. Love you guys. If you plan on celebrating in NJ let me know!
no way Alex Rios is medium and Bobby Bonilla is hard
I love guessing along, I almost talked myself out of Bonilla I didn't remember him for the cardinals 😂
I usually do really bad with these but I was pretty proud to nail Bobby Bonilla real early. The PIT/NYM/BAL/MIA combo gave it to me.
Hard got hurt in Spring Training in 2001, opening up a roster spot for a guy named Albert Pujols
Americanized as pooholes
Ah, that’s why I don’t remember him playing for Stl
Good job including that player on the last one. Guy deserves a shout out, he left this world way too soon.
Shocked myself by immediately guessing the super-hard one!
Happy Birthday Jolly!
As a big baseball fan from 1993-2010, this set of players was a slam dunk. I struggle on the newer players (even when they’re “easy”), but I got all of these pretty quick. And Darryl Kile was a slam dunk. RIP.
A special day for one of these guys coming soon!!!!
It’s the thought that counts, Jolly.
Happy Birthday Jolly
0:11 the way Jolly says this is like that video that went viral of that guy introducing his girlfriend and people were stitching it to look like a hostage situation
Screaming Alex Rios at my screen
I got the Darryl kile one pretty quick. I used him on immaculate grid a few days ago. I didn't get Alex Rios. I have a few of his cards but don't look up his stats often.
Rios was the hardest one for me this episode.
Shelfy pronouncing Bonilla name like he’s never heard anyone talk about him and only read it.
Happy birthday Jolly! I'm on the 22nd, hope this is a great year for you
Alex Rios stumped the shit out of me. Totally forgot about him and didn't remember him being that productive.
That was by far the easiest "hard" that I have seen on one of these. I mean, c'mon, the Killer B's in Pittsburgh man, Bonds, Bonilla and Bell.
As an October 10th birthday haver, the beginning of this video was hilarious
Dude. I have gotten the easy and hard right immediately for the last 6 episodes and always get the medium wrong. Growing up an NL fan is my cross to bear
Any player on here before like 2005, even good ones, and they are absolutely clueless
Happy Birthday Jolly! 🎂
I was literally looking at Medium’s BR page the other day… I should’ve had that…
jake is dressed like a winter umpire without the mask.
I was thinking about Daryl Kyle but thought he had one stint with the Cubs. RIP
When I saw it was about birthdays I looked up some players that I share a birthday with and the only one that anyone could’ve possibly gotten was Bobby Bonilla, and then the hard round comes up and it’s literally Bobby Bonilla. So I guess I share a birthday with Joez.
Happy birthday Jolly!
I got Bobby Bonilla and Daryl Kile but totally forgot Alex Rios existed
Putting Joez's segment for Hard I immediately thought he wouldn't make it.
4/4. I was wondering why on Very Hard his career ended so early then it hit me. RIP Darryl Kile
Smashed it today! 4 for 4.
My birthday was a couple days ago. A handful of MLB players. Most notably Warren Spahn and Andruw Jones
Happy birthday Jolly
I share a birthday with Tony Fernandez, Trea Turner, Mark Gruzielanek, Garret Anderson, Chan Ho Park and the only one born on my birthday on my year is a good trivia question (Pat Venditte).
I think I showed my age when I had no clue with Alex Rios and knew Bonilla and Kile right away.
Cards fan, got stumped on Bonilla but glad I got Kile, RIP!
Happy co-birthday Jolly!
I was so on the fence about the last one being Kile. Like the numbers matched up, but I was 99% sure he died an Astro.
Got Tulow within a TENTH OF A SECOND
I can only assume that the only reason Bobby Bonilla was the hard was because how long ago he played. That would go in the easy bucket for me. And I got the very hard one right away. I guess the 90s is my decade.
My baseball birthday buddy is Clayton Kershaw.
Happy birthday! Mine's at midnight 😁
Oh hey, TIL that Jolly's birthday is the day after mine, who knew
I felt really stumped by the VH; but somehow the name Darryl Kile popped up with the thought that I think he played for all these teams and found the match in BR. Once I got over not realizing he began his career with the White Sox and noticed the years he was going between rightfield and third base......Bonilla should have been the easy question.
also, on Kile, here's a theme to draw from. Make sure to read up on Big Ed Delahanty while you're at it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_baseball_players_who_died_during_their_careers
I love Alex Rios great inclusion Jolly thank ya my boy
So this is how I find out I share a birthday with the legendary Bobby Bo
I can't believe the first name that came to mind for me was Darryl Kile...
this is the first time i got all of them right quickly
Happy Bird Day Jolly
Rios was definitely the hardest.
Tulo Alex Rois Bobby Bonilla and Darryl Kile (RIP) that's a throwback
FFS... I absolutely would have got that last one if it wasn't Hard. I mean if it was categorized as Easy I wouldn't have been trying to think of obscure Pirates I'd have thought of the smegging obvious one.
4-4. RIP Darryl Kile
I got Darrell Kyle immediately, but I couldn’t get Alex Rios. Also couldn’t get Bobby Bo, I did horrible this week.
Alex Rios moving to center late is due to Vernon Wells blocking him.
The Orioles are also still paying Bonilla, 500k a year through 2028
Why are AB and triples not listed?
Hey jolly! We share a birthday! I was able to go to 2 giants games for mine hope you had a great bday as well! Never find to many except Al Pacino that shares an April 25th bday!
joez almost gave me a heart attack on easy
this is the easiest one yet by a long shot
Of all the days for a birthday theme, my daughter is born 4/25. Happy birthday joyful grape
yall should do world series champion their rookie year
Unbelievable that I got the very hard correct, but not the medium or hard.
Happy birthday jolly
Bonilla is one of the easiest hards I can remember
Joez and I are birthday twins 😲
Tony Torasco did not compile hitting stats like this.
Jollive, we are once again asking to make hard harder than medium. gotta be the 3rd time this season I've either struggled or missed medium and then instantly got hard
Think this was my first ever clean sweep, RIP DK
RIP Darryl Kile.
Can we do a yankees ref guess special for Jimmy?
rest in peace Darryl Kile
Jake knows ball.
