Thank you! I'm secure enough to understand my limitations. I sure like this old stuff, though. I normally always state that "I am no expert" in my videos. I think some people miss that and go straight for the attack. I'm ok with it though. You're correct! We learn together.

In 1970, Case started using Dots on blades; older knives have other style blade stamps less accurate. The main stamp changes every 10 years. Depending on the main stamp, the design tells you one part of the age. In 2000 Case added a combination of dots and X’s. The one on the turntable is a 2020 model year Trapper. The crooked S designates stainless blades. Blades using CV steel are stamped CV or use a regular S. That is always not true however, Case use many different blade stamp marks and unique shields to identify knives. A small difference can make one knife model much more valuable than another is. Limited production models fetch higher prices, knowing the difference is a mistake that Collectors are always looking for.🤔

The best dating system I have seen is on Bulova watches. They are one letter followed by one number. 'M' is the 60's and a number like '2' would make the watch a 1962.. quick and simple.

@@BackPorchAntiques yeah.. I was messing around buying and selling. Omega has a site with the serial numbers giving the year... much like firearms. I really like Wyler watches but it is impossible to know when one was made.. there are little clues that will get you in the ballpark but..

The best dating on knives that I know of is all the USGI Folding Pocket Knives (Camillus, Imperial, etc.) 1957-2006 and they used a real date on the main blade.
