Palace were a real good side back in the late 80s early 90s I'm a Birmingham fan but after watching that semi final against liverpool at villa park iv always had a soft spot for you guys ,,,, .that red with blue striped kit is unique with palace loved it
I used to go to palace in those day and was at Selhurst when Birmingham fans kicked off in the late 80s. Funny thing is I moved away to Wales years later and work with a Birmingham fan who was there that day. He's a good friend now.
Been looking for this match for years! Thank u for posting it. Was at this match with my parents. It Was a fantastic day out. My late dad who was palace thru and thru was over the moon...never saw him so happy 😁
A year previously we'd been in the FA Cup Final v. Man Utd. Had to queue up all night in the Sainsbury's car park to get the allowed one ticket each. Allocation was 15,000, 25,000 for the Mancs and 40,000 for the FA hangers on. A year later for the Zenith Cup, it was 40,000 tickets for each club more or less. Was able to go with the whole family. Still remember Geoff's face as he lifted that trophy..
Great clip from a time when there was no bitchiness about trophies. Any Cup Final or League is worth trying to win , something Spurs would do well to learn from.

The Full Members Cup was the forerunner of the Football League Trophy. I love the Football League Trophy. A good way to improve the Football League Trophy, would be to invite Celtic sides into the Football League Trophy. The Scots already allow English, Welsh, Irish and Ilster sides into the Scottish Challenge Cup. I say the English should invite all Scottish Premier sides who have not qualified for Europe, plus a selection of Welsh Premier sides into the Football League Trophy. Imagine games like Connahs Quay v Portsmouth, or Aberdeen V Blackpool, or Sunderland V Hibs.

1991!
A sad day for us but Palace ran out worthy winners. Bloody Ian Wright again, he just loved scoring against Everton!
Probably Palace’s best ever team with a great performance to win
I was at this game. ..I sensed my team would lose before a ball was kicked..palace fans were loud and really up for it
The golden era
Great day out that was !!!!
Palace were a good side, we really struggled to handle them that day

I remember this day so well ..

I was there and my lasting memory was a dejected Southall sitting against the goal post
Why were there American football markings on the pitch?

Two years on, and you'll be playing in the Championship next season, but at least you' have that shiny new stadium.
