Too much ambiguity in software as a career??? Go for Govt job and be sure about your future. Do not take your life to chances. Its your life. You may end up with very good knowledge and a great degree in software engg (like some of my friends in so many iits) BUT with NO JOB. If you put in the same amount of effort you can easily crack a govt job. Even a mediocre type of job is worth it in the Govt.Do not dwell in cloud9 ...do it man.
To crack government job also is not so easy very tough competition esp for general category. And if you don't get good govt job its hard to run your family. Don't lose heart I've seen graduates trying for government jobs until age bar and becoming taxi drivers. Future lies in computers if one is skillful thers no question not getting job work for 15 20 yrs amass good fortune and start up your own.
