This track jams even better in D Mixolydian. Either scale works well. I love tracks like this where you can fluidly move between different modal scales.

Super cool jam but definitely not D Dorian. D Dorian would be the same notes of C Ionian, but you can easily hear that that playing the note B over this progression sounds really dissonant. It's actually D Aeolian
Hmmmmmm, i’m gonna have to disagree with you there. Definitely hearing a G major. But maybe it’s just me. I’m not sure if I put any B notes in there at all
@@nowyoushred Hey, sorry if my comment was worded poorly. I didn't mean that you had stuck a B note in the progression, I meant that playing one while listening to this backing track sounds dissonant. However, upon re-examining the track, you actually do use a B note on the bass abruptly before sliding up to the C. However, for some reason, it has a "blues note" vibe, meaning, it sounds out of key. I don't mean this in a bad way at all; it's very tasteful. I'm simply saying that dwelling on the note B while jamming to this track sounds dissonant because somewhere in here (would take too long for me to figure it out where) you are definitely implying D natural minor/F major.
In response to hearing a G major, technically speaking, it can't be in the key of G major (ionian) because there is no F in G major.
