Tolles Video Elena!:) Ich komme aus der Schweiz & würde auch gerne Jura in England studieren... doch in der Schweiz haben wir Zivilrecht und in England ja nicht. Weisst du zufälligerweise ob man einen Abschluss in Zivilrecht in Cambrigde machen kann?
Hi! Der Bachelor-Abschluss in Cambridge fokussiert sich hauptsächlich auf britisches Recht aber es gibt die Möglichkeit, ein Jahr in einem Land, in welchem Zivilrecht unterrichtet wird, zu verbringen (aber es gibt nur einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Cambridge). Viele Länder haben die Möglichkeit, nach einem Jurastudium im Ausland einen Test/Kurs zu machen, damit man mit dem Abschluss in dem Land als Anwalt arbeiten darf - vielleicht gibt es so etwas für Abschlüsse aus England in der Schweiz?
Elena Handtrack vielen lieben Dank für deine Hilfe! ich werde mich mal informieren:) ausserdem bin ich heute auf die Möglichkeit, den LLM in Cambridge aus einem „Zivilrechtland“ zu machen, gestossen. Das scheint für mich eine sehr gute Variante zu sein. Hast du eigentlich vor nach dem Studium weiterhin in England zu bleiben und auch dort zu arbeiten oder kommst du nach Deutschland zurück?:)

My dad graduated Birmingham's Law school with upper 80%s
He got a full scholarship for PHD but instead chose to come back in my home country( common wealth country here!)
Now he's at the top of his field in my country and literallty writes the constitution😶
Im so scared to lower the family standard if I get into this field....

My results are above the minimum requirement for all Uk law schools
I already wrote a rocking statement for Ucas but I'm not sure if I should submit my application
I cant bring myself to decide if I should go for it 🤔

JD _ but please donˋt feel forced to do law because your dad put „the expectation high“. Because you probably will have a very different working-experience from him. And if you‘re not passionate about it, the constant comparison is not going to be good for you. Just be carefull and good luck for your future! :)
@@xafir2816 Thx. But I think you actually did not understood what I said. To rephrase clearly: I am interested to study law and my grades are way above the min requirement(even higher than top tier law schools as Oxford). However, what worries me is whether as a lawyer I'll live up to the expectations of my family and the people in the judiciary who all know my father.
My dad never talks of his job or of the law at home. Back then I learned from my mum that he was a qualified barrister and memeber of the judiciary.
I took a gap year to sort things out with internships. Time will tell us what will happen next.
JD _ nono I understood just that and was trying to tell you to let go of living up to anyone or thinking that you‘d like to do sth because someone you know is successfull because eveyone is different. :) Trust me I know. I did law for some time but because I also wanted to live up to „people‘s expectation“ (which I later found out were my own) it kept me from persuing what I am now doing. I know you probably are sure that law is right for you but again my advice is more catered towords the part of „people maybe having expectations of you because of your father“. Because that is something that shouldnt matter to you if you love what you are doing.
JD _ and you wont lower your families Standards in this field in any way I can assure you whether you decide to do law in the future, do it and maybe chance mind later or do sth different from the beginning :)
Denkt alle bitte sehr gut drüber nach. Besonders, da Jura nicht nur ein „cooles Studium ist, was die ganzen rich-kids mit guten Noten belegen und Parties machen“. Viele haben einfach nur Jura studiert, weil es hoch angesehen war. Ich war einer davon für 2 Semster, bis das ich gemerkt habe, dass ich zwar gerne Jura studiere, aber mich in keiner der Karrieremöglichkeiten gesehen habe. Bitte lasst euch nicht dazu verleiten xy zu studieren, nur weil es hoch angesehen ist oder ihr „die Noten dazu habt“.
Oder weil es euch laut Statistiken ein hohes Gehalt sichern wird.
Mehlsuppe oh ja genau! Denn 1. können auch Ärzte und Anwälte insolvent gehen oder als Angestellte ein „normales“/moderates Gehalt haben. Und 2. wenn man etwas nur wegen des Geldes macht, dann macht man es auch nicht gut. Oder man schafft das schwere Studium erst gar nicht. Und dann endet man wieder bei 1. XD

I kind of want to go into a law career but would rather to a GDL after a different degree rather than a 3 year law degree because I’m more interested in actually spending 3 years studying another subject. Is this stupid?!

Warum hast Du Dich eigentlich gegen ein Studium in Deutschland entschieden, obwohl hier ja auch einige Exzellenzunis wie Heidelberg oder Münster für Rechtswissenschaften existieren?
Hi, es freut mich, dass dich das Video motiviert! Ich habe leider keine Hochschulzugangsberechtigung in Deutschland weil ich an einer internationalen Schule meinen Abschluss gemacht habe und mich dabei gegen eine Fächerwahl, die ich für eine Anerkennung in Deutschland gebraucht hätte, entschieden habe!
