  • The Aggies know what could have been with a win over Alabama, however, when that realization failed, the inevitable set in and many frustrations became apparent to even those who scarcely believed they existed.

    Jimbo needs to replace defense Secondary and OLine coaches that's the problem we are having absolutely

      Absolutely egregious at those spots. Should have been fixed a while ago. I worry his attitude or culture behind the scenes has no urgency, particular with coaches to push them to get the job done.
      I joke that my channel has any pull with anything, but I thought it was really time to make this to apply pressure. Its in my own way, I try to be tempered, but its time to move in one way or another.

      The fanbase is steady moving that way. I temper my frustrations in large part, but needed to let loose more today. A win will help, but I think most see that Jimbo is failing to win big games in large part, and those failures have systemic implications for our long term success.

    The problem might be is we can't get out of our own way for whatever reason

      I've certainly considered this, I'm just not sure how to quantify it or what to put my thumb on. Maybe Jimbo is riding high on the hog and has lost his edge. I'm not sure, but I don't get a sense from him that 8-4 is unacceptable. Its more like 8-4 is allowed. I think we need that mindset to change.

    Here is what I don't understand. As someone who fell in love with Texas A&M since the day I set foot in College Station in '07, A&M hasn't exactly "fallen from grace" if we combine the efforts of Franchione, Sherman and Sumlin, 2012 aside. A&M's peak was in the 80s and 90s with Sherrill and Slocum. A&M's biggest mistake was getting rid of Slocum, assuming he still had 5-10 years left on him on top of the 14 he had already given as the HC and many more as an assistant. A&M has an INCREDIBLE history, tradition, venue and a fanbase second to none but that great culture has often been far ahead of A&M's success on the field. Fran, Sherman and even Sumlin (minus Manziel and Kingsbury) would have led A&M to be little more than an SEC doormat for Bama, LSU, Georgia and other top programs like Clemson. Yes, losing to Alabama sucks but I think A&M has long over estimated their place in CFB. A&M is #1 in my heart but not #1 in the nation and we play like that. Now, I think A&M is easily top 25 but we played Alabama like a team that isn't a top 10 team but has the ingredients for it (which A&M hasn't had since the 90s)
    People complain about the big money contract but in current day CFB, that money isn't going anywhere and if it were much less, the coaches would go where the money is if they are looking to move. My fear is that we don't realize just how long of a way down it is from 8-4, playing very close games against the best in country, routinely and even getting some top 10 wins. Some might say that is mediocre but that's only mediocre in this league if you can't see how hard it is just to do that, let alone knock the CFB giants around like it's nothing. I seriously think people would be happier in a weaker conference where we can get out of regular season play with 9 wins and then get crushed by the big boys and on occasion get a win. I'll take Jimbo for a few more years. I want stability not a revolving door at the HC spot.

    • @atmcoldchills
      @atmcoldchills  Před 9 měsíci

      I had a similar take on Sumlin as you are expressing now. I'd say Jimbo should stick around; as much as im' frustrated, the reality is we aren't doing anything at the end of this year, or probably next. If he could somehow show us some light with a 9-3 season this year, that would go a long way.
      But you're right, we have all the aspirations of a perennial 10-2 team with 8-4 results. I think the frustration is that we know we have what it takes for 10-2+ but for some reason we can't seem to get past that hurdle. I do think back to Jimbo's first year with us. The atmosphere around the program wasn't very lax from what I could tell. I'm not sure it is now, but I do wonder, and I wonder where the fire is! Kirby Smart has that fire, and we need some of that!

    • @GridironMasters
      @GridironMasters Před 9 měsíci

      @@atmcoldchills The fire ultimately comes from winning games. I think perspective is often lost when we say "we" can't get over the 8-4 hurdle. Half the programs are trying to get over the 6-6 hurdle or worse. The double digit win hurdle is pretty tall. What will it take to get over it? I don't think it is quantifiable. If it were, more programs would do it more often. There are things 10+ win teams have but just having that doesn't mean anything. I really do think it comes down to luck in your coaching hire all else being equal. Coaches are not plug and play either. Take Saban, if he happened to go to A&M rather than Alabama, would he have won all those titles? Maybe, maybe some, maybe none.
      Jimbo has shown that he can field teams that play close games against the best in the country routinely. I think that stat is overlooked. People will see those as just losses but losing by 40 versus

    • @Rexag
      @Rexag Před 9 měsíci

      Yes. By no means do I want to fire Jimbo. It would be ludicrous to fire him. Not for the money but because it sets the program back again. He choices in coordinators may not be the best and he could brush up at bit but keep Jimbo just make the right changes. For gods sake

    I think A&M needs to move forward with firing Jimbo ASAP and begin reaching out to:
    Mike Elko
    Dan Lanning
    Kalen DeBoer
    Chris Klieman
    Jeff Traylor
    Reach out in that order.
    Elko would keep a lot of the staff and players together and i think would possibly keep Petrino and let him call plays how he wants to call them and not handicap him like Jimbo does

    I'm just in a coma when it comes to excuses about the program....it's a disease that keeps coming out of remission. I won't even try to analyze the stats anymore...I can't because nothing is ever consistent..I wake up each Saturday with anxiety in my throat for what is going to happen today... we never know. It's almost as if we aren't supposed to win...and what I am alluding to I am sure you can read between the lines.. The final plays of games and the play calling has been suspect....after all I am over the excuses. But, I will ALWAYS be an Aggie....and we wait.

    • @atmcoldchills
      @atmcoldchills  Před 9 měsíci +1

      ALWAYS!
      What does it for me is that I thought the play calling was going to be considerably different this year. I some ways I can say it has, but would you say you've seen a marked difference?
      Take the 4th and 1 play for instance, if I'm not mistaken that chalked up to executing...again. Like, do we not practice executing? It sounds like an odd thing to say, I mean how do you practice execution? I just think he's accepting things that affect culture, right down to the mentality of how they practice.

    I think the fan base should force the boosters to take that terrible contract right on the chin. If Jimbo goes less than 9-3 this season he should be fired. If he loses two games next season tarmac him on the spot

    • @atmcoldchills
      @atmcoldchills  Před 9 měsíci

      9-3 needs to be our floor from this season on! get a 10-2 every other year, maybe the occasional third, that would satisfy a lot of our frustrations...for a time. We need to be able to see that 10-2 is on the table...we believe its on the table, but its hard to see because we see the result on the field too.
      Those two don't match...everyone knows we are a 10-2 team on paper, but the result is mismatched and that has got to give.
