I definitely prefer strides. Really good overview!

Def more suited for plyos but I was able to improve my stride game through a lot of strength training and working on strides and running more. You guys should do a conversation about running and how the majority of athletes / practitioners neglect it because it's not a flip :p

Power plays a key part I think, people who have more raw power, would find plyos easy whereas, someone who is athletic and good in running but less powerful would find striding far is easy because of speed component

I'm in my mid thirties and just started doing parkour this past summer. I'm a hockey goalie, and was needing something to keep me active and sane after a year without playing hockey. So, I guess I have Covid to thank for falling in love with parkour. Maybe it hasn't been all bad after all 🤷‍♂️
I am much more comfortable with plyos than I am with strides, but I think it's almost entirely a mental thing. I find it really scary commiting to landing on one foot. I've also utilized plyometric jumps in training for hockey before, but just on flat ground, so I have more familiarity with the movement of a plyo.
Anyway, thanks for the great content. I just subscribed today after watching your analysis of Verky's Kong of the Tampa stride.

I'm a plyo man all the way. Makes sense since I have that short but powerful type. I think the body type like you were saying really makes a big difference in this.

Im not so sure when I use what, I feel that speed is deciding factor, if I need to go far or fast I try to stride, but when the distance doesn’t call for it I prefer a plyo because I feel like I have more control.
Your foot placement is a thing as well. It took me forever to stride on rails and thin posts and I still don’t dare to put in a lot of force then. I’ll go for two foot landings and jumps then.

I don't know.... I do two of them without any particular preference but I guess its more of plyos cause I hardly find spots for a good stride challenge

Strides forever. I feel like there becomes a speed where you cannot do an even footed plyo effectively. Needs to be a slight gather step or “lemur” step
