Scott was the best.male singer ever such a talent and such a beautiful and haunting voice it's just a pity that so many haven't heard him he still lives in my.heart
There are two music legends that made me aware of the power of lyrics. There wasn't much to like in lyrics, cliche's like "Love me, please love me" and "The rain, the park and other things"(still a wonderful, happy bubblegum ditty, btw) and "Yeah, yeah". There was Genesis with Peter Gabriel, but I didn't understand the words, they just created a magically drugged out Alice in Wonderland mood. Poetry again. And there was Scott Walker. The Scott Walker from translated Jaques Brel songs (which Mort Shuman did excellently). But Scott also wrote his own lyrics - I became aware of that with the 45rpm flipside "Always coming back to you", and the A-side of his third solo album. 'Two Ragged Soldiers" in particular moved me to tears, it still does. Someone somewhere described it as 'Domestic Dramas.' Scott's lyrics are much more than that. It's sheer poetry.
Everything still, everything silent As after the rain We lie here listening to night close down Stare like a child, wait for the signs To decide once again Just when they looked here to stay We're to leave our world, our air It really isn't fair Outside they sing "The war is over!" "Raise your blinds, the war is over!" Tell your deepest dark Goodbye A distant waltz turns in the head Of an old lady's night Waiting hands unfold within the dark Lighting her lamp, seeing Prince Albert Recalling the site They waltz again through the park Floorboards creak beneath the moon The room below just sighs Outside they sing "The war is over!" "Raise your blinds, the war is over!" Let me get some sleep tonight Everything still, everything silent As after the rain Still we are After The Rain Lyrics from cd booklet

how do we not see... that was lost ..... an over... a happy time ... that leaves someone feeling so alone....... with trying to make a lost one... make it make a reason why .... that one is gone.....
in fact Stretch is a great album...just a different theme , i.e. country and western. The songs ‘Just one smile’ and ‘someone who cared’ are as great as anything youwill ever hear from Scott’s vocal chords.
Wonderful song , Scott sang with great feeling.

Auch sein perfektes Profil, so von der Seite.👌🏼
His voice is so relaxing .Love this man what a voice xx RIP
Scott undoubtedly had one of the most haunting singing voices in music. I could listen to him sing the phone book.
Beautiful ❤
"'Til the Band Comes In" Side One is the best thing Walker recorded. Just genius!
God... what a voice

Dear Scotts wonderful voice and the lyrics of this song beautiful. Love Scott. R.I.P. 💔💔
Ooooh I forgot about this one....it's like watching a master painting a watercolour sketch, his lover watching as he lays out the story...magic.
I'm always blown away by Scott's artistry.
Great !!
Yeah it sounds like it would fit comfortably on Scott 3 or 4. Its absolutely breathtaking!
Beautiful man beautiful voice ❤️ RIP Scott 💔 Goodbye it’s over😢
Rest in Peace, Mr. Engel. - You can say that he laughed, and walked with St.Francis, in love
No such thing as too much Scott Walker... great photo collection.
this whole album is sooooooooooo mellow. lovely. balm for the soul. take it from someone who's seen a lot of chaffing! ;-) x
What a song!
One of the most beautiful song ever
One of many Scott songs that are just too beautiful for words..
2019 still loving this!
I'm in the sky !!!
Everything still, everything silent
As after the rain
We lie here listening to night close down
Stare like a child, wait for the signs
To decide once again
Just when they looked here to stay
We're to leave our world,
our air
It really isn't fair
Outside they sing "The war is over!"
"Raise your blinds, the war is over!"
Tell your deepest dark
Goodbye
A distant waltz turns in the head
Of an old lady's night
Waiting hands unfold within the dark
Lighting her lamp, seeing Prince Albert
Recalling the site
They waltz again through the park
Floorboards creak beneath the moon
The room below just sighs
Outside they sing "The war is over!"
"Raise your blinds, the war is over!"
Let me get some sleep
tonight
Everything still, everything silent
As after the rain
Still we are
After
The
Rain
Lyrics from cd booklet
Still we are
after
the
rain.

Neurodisco77 can you honestly name a SW song that is BETTER than that?

'by a mile' is harsh considering the fabulous repertoire

I love scott but have any of you guys heard Stretch? He was obviously in a coma.

The fuck does it have to do with this song/album ?
