- In this video, I share my journey of achieving a first in maths during my four-year degree at Warwick University. My strategy consisted of eight key elements: attending lectures for firsthand information, reading recommended course books for deeper understanding, putting in significant effort into assignments for active learning, taking additional modules as a safety net, choosing complementary modules for synergy, creating a study plan for efficient time management, practicing active recall for memory retention, and focusing heavily on my final year project. These methods helped me consistently excel during my time at university and I hope they can aid you on your academic journey as well.

WHO AM I?
Hey everyone, my name is Josh and I’m an Investment Actuary-turned-CZcamsr. Through my videos here on this channel I share my career experience and also general self-improvement experiments based on my experience. I hope you enjoy!
Thanks for this video, it was very informative and I'll definitely be using these tips for next semester. Is it possible to do a video detailing the specific modules you took at uni? I think that would be a very informative video as well.
I would love to to that video! I focused on analysis, differential equations and probability.
Awesome vid. I'd love to know:
What are the things you'd go back & improve if you could with your current knowledge & experience?
(I'm guessing active recall fits into that)
Thanks! Yes definitely active recall. I would maybe not do the additional modules and go for the core and apply 80/20. That way I would have fewer lectures and more free time. I also wish I was more collaborative as I think I would have learned more and actually done better overall. I wish I had networked with the professors who ran the course more and asked more questions. Hope that helps!
Great editing
Thanks!
I will take mathematics in Warwick University for three-yeear degree. I want to prepare for the math courses like algebra and analysis. I use the book Algebra and Geometry which is suggested by Warwick on the web. However, the abstract algebra part is really tough. Can you give me some suggestions? I feel painful now.
Hey Ruichen, I found the books “3000 solved problems in calculus/linear algebra” to be really helpful when I was there. Sorry to hear it’s painful!
