    Had mine outside under Canary sun over a year. Went offroad allot and hard. Rusty but with new battery, spark plugs, air and oilfilter. Runs fine again. Have to check some small details before passing inspection. Indicators, horn. Can't wait to take it out again, less offroading now i think.

      yah they not really made for off-roading despite the good ground clearance, but still good bike and reliable

    Just bought a 2nd hand 2007 Varadero xl 125 and got a small discount on it due to the speedo not working correctly. When turning the bike on however, the needle of the speedo can be seen flickering about a bit at 0 but does not work. I will try the fuse clean as you've said. Thanks a bunch!

    Those electrical probs aren't specific to Varaderos, they could happen to any bike. Maybe it's been kept outside over a couple of winters.

    Hi,
    thanks for the info,
    I'm currently looking for one of these for my 17 year old son, I see lots for sale with 25000 plus miles.
    Is this sort of mileage going to be a money pit or is this no problem with a good service history?
    Thanks in advance.

    • @oldfartuk
      @oldfartuk  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Not a problem provided it's got service history.. the engine is bulletproof really .. electrical side of things can be an issue but not normally serious. .

    I need help, my bike starts and goes well, until it warms up, after it is warm, it dies off, if i want to keep it running, i have to use WOT just to keep it running barely, i need help, im frustrated, oh, and the bike destroys spark plugs, it seems like something is wrong with ignition (coils, or with something else) thank you in advance.

    My old Honda NSR125 did 110mph fully derestricted 😂 and it seriously did. One quick bike. I have a Varadero at the moment to plod about on. Also have a xv750. The Varadero is a pleasure to ride its very comfortable on long journeys. And has a big tank for it too. Its on 34k and still sounds smooth.

    A very weird Issue i'm having that its just failed the mot on everything else fine. Which is so annoying. Anyway engine off ignition on indicators work fine. Start the engine indicators stop working, (this is what failed) YET switch side lights on or headlight indicators work fine! Any idea's? some how its like its losing earth or voltage when the engines running with the lights off.

    • @oldfartuk
      @oldfartuk  Před 3 lety

      you right .. that is very strange ... does the bike charge battery ok ? . you could get a multi meter and check the voltage across the battery for when engine started and when its not . not running .. should be 12-14v and its running normally around 15-17v .. and check that you don't have continuity between the positive lead and the frame / earth ... if you do then you have a major wiring problem ..... Also check that you don't have a any loose earth wires .. that can cause strange problems

      @@oldfartuk Well today i changed the indicator relay and its all working again! which is odd as it was working i just had to have the lights on? So the relay was either going dodgy or it was not the right type installed. I now have a full MOT happy days

    My Son is having problems with His Varardero XL125 V7,the Chain needs a lot of attention but the current problem is that the Fuses keep blowing ,I have tried to source a Regulator ,rectifier but the Ones I have found are quite expensive and not sure what is causing the problem ,any Answers please.

    • @oldfartuk
      @oldfartuk  Před 3 lety +1

      Id check all wires ..if they keep blowing then could be a short somewhere if reg / rec was faulty then battery wouldn't charge or possibly blow only main fuse ..
