It was a scintilating experience listening to the performance by Shrimathi. CHARUMATHI
RAGHURAMAN ACCOMANIED by both Shri. Delhi Shri. S. Sairam on Mridhangam and by
Shri. Krishna Sriram on Ghatam both of whom embellished the performance by their
sudued and yet pronounced pakka vadhyam presentations. The group of three deserve
all our praise for their outstanding performance - especially with the way they modulated
the instruments so well that the output was simply superb. All three of them are a boon
to Karnatic music and may their performances be attended and appreciated by all the
discerning rasikas all over the Globe . With very best wishes to all three of them.

When Charumathy Raghuram is performing, a static video camera angle doesn't work, unlike with other performers perhaps.
A closeup of her facial expressions is an integral part of the display of her performance.
Viewers get to watch, her emotions, the composer's emotions and the emotions of the composition including the characters of the song ... It's a complete musical drama that gets enacted.
Watch her play at the Prashanthi Nilayam to get what I mean. A wholesome eye-candy ear-candy experience.
A very unique player excelling in not just the chaste traditional performance but also a unique performer in her own unique way.
Not just a pleasure to listen to, but also to watch her perform in stage.
That said, this performance is only partially captured ...!

HISTORY OF TAMIL PAN AND CARNATIC MUSIC. Tamil Pan is the recorded earliest music in India. Silapathigaram, authored by Ilango Adigal around 500CE (1500 years ago) gives a perfect description about Classical Music. Is it not amazing that somebody in the Tamizh land defined all these as early as the 5th century? In just one verse, he gives the names of the seven swaras as per Tamizh PaN.
    Sa-Kural; Ri-Thuththam;Ga-KaikkiLai;Ma-Uzhai;Pa-ILi;Dha-ViLari;Ni-
Tharam. In another verse, he says PaNs(Ragams) are obtained by arranging the 12 Kovais(swaras) in a specified structure in the ascending and descending scale. Sa-Kural; Ri-Thuththam;Ga-KaikkiLai;Ma-Uzhai;Pa-ILi;Dha-ViLari;Ni-
Tharam. In another verse, he says PaNs(Ragams) are obtained by arranging the 12 Kovais (swaras) in a specified structure in the ascending and descending scale.
Purantharadasa (1500 CE, 500yrs back) a devotee of Vishnu, contributed enormously to further perfect the Tamil Pan as carnatic music and all others iincluding Mumoorthys are followers of Tamil Pan transformed Carnatic music and further added their kirthana.

Interesting but highly disputable information snippet. Only promoted in a wrong forum.
It's a sultry topic if Tamil was such a super duper big brother for the entire world.
Your predicament about Carnatic music is like saying we have Kamba Ramayanam in Tamil and thus Valmiki adapted it in Sanskrit...!
No doubt Tamil is an advanced tongue and a very ancient one.
But, mere tamilicised reference of seven swaras in Silappadhikaram won't make it, this art form originated in Tamil.
Contemporary findings show there was a highly accomplished society that thrived in Saraswathi River basin,( which is no more existing due to geographic changes through the millennia), whose skills in language, music, science, astronomy, mathematics etc spread across the world including in Europe(Indo European language, which is a prelude to many euro languages including English) and far east etc. Southerners, aka dravidians also picked this up and adapted a lot of those skills and progressed, which is pretty cluey of erstwhile Tamils. For sure.
That won't make it, they are fathers for everything.
That said, what I say has no conclusive proof, only as much as your reference to Silappadhikaram as to Tamil giving birth to Carnatic music. We will never know the truth.
We are at liberty to hold on to our opinion. No one stops it. Why push an agenda in a wrong forum.?

@@guppy277 When you refer Saraswathy i could conclude how pathological liars are finding their puranic mystery?
Sara is a Bibilical and Quranic name for girls. ... Sara in Persian means “pure”, “untainted”, and they use it as the name of Prophet Ibrahim's wife. SWATHI NAME MEANING IN PERSIAN IS A STAR; PURE AS A PEARL, . IN northern Pakistan, REFER TO PEOPLE originally migrating from the Sarawat Mountains, now residing around the Swat Valley.
      SARA+SWATHI = SARASWATHI
SARASWATHI IS ANATOLIAN NAME STILL POPULAR IN ISLAM AND CHRISTIANS. SO ARYANS INVADER BROUGHT THAT NAME FROM ANATOLIA AND DEVELOP PURANIC STORIES.
The Helmand River, known in ancient Iranian Avestan as Haraxvatī and Harahvaiti, is identified by some as the ancient Sarasvati river. So the invading Aryans try to praise tgeir motherland river in in Iran.
