Opening BMW e36 trunk without drilling (disconnected battery & bad lock)

Closed my trunk with disconnected battery and my lock does not work. Before drilling a hole into the bootlid, I tried to connect starting power source to the jump points under the hood. Did not think it will work, but the car came to life and I was able to use central locking to open the trunk! No drilling necessary;-)
