If you're here watching this it means you're part of the 2% of humanity that thinks outside of the box. Great job continue being unique 😀👍
Indeed.
It's mind blowing how if you told somebody about it, their close-minded asses say "eww" first thing that comes to their little head. Crazy world we live in.
In organics everything can be turned gold 💚🌱🦠
I mean... My dog pisses in the yard, I water it down, and that grass grows a foot taller than the grass around it...
Thank you 🙏🏼 😊
When my son was a little boy, I planted 4 citrus trees. At a family lunch, a relative mentioned 'the traditional method' of watering lemon trees & as a little boy he found it all very amusing, but never mentioned it again. Some years later, out in the back yard I pondered out loud about why our lemon tree was nearly 3 times the size of the other 3 sad little citrus trees that it had been bought, planted & grown with. My son informed me that he'd been nipping outside regularly to test 'the traditional method' on the lemon tree ever since he was little & it works.
haha! That's a awesome story. Indeed it does. It also helps pear trees :)
It’s awesome funny lol
What do you mean by traditional menthod? Is it simply urine or urine mixed with wood ash?
@ニーハオさおあ how do you mean
I am dying!!!!
I mean you're right, we flush perfectly good fertilizer each day and buy store bought stuff. Good tips to be more self sufficient
You're welcome :)
Me and my 5 kids have been collecting our urine in large yogurt containers everyday for the past month. Not only are our vegetables growing at a fast rate but even those that were on the verge of dying due to poor soil conditions are now THRIVING! You have to see it to believe it :)
When you say “collect it” do you mean use daily whatever the family makes? Or can you actually store urine for that long or any length of time? The author of the video say fresh urine and I know that it is sterile when leaving the body but corrupts shortly afterwards. So how long is TOO long???
@@annalisa6135 Storing/aging urine results in greatly reduced nitrogen due to microbes and stuff breaking it down, transforming it into a fertilizer with around 1-1-1 NPK ratio.
But the advantage of storing urine (for at least half a month onwards) is it also eliminates any potential pathogens in the urine.
@@zanaros2606 Bioavailable nitrogen might be reduced, but nitrogen itself is an element so it doesn't go anywhere.
Wonderful
Fertilizer companies hate him 😏
yeah! just like synthetic meds.. Why add more disease taking those synthetics if there's a real solution from nature..
@@thetruthseeker1239 the money that can be made....what else..lol
Last year someone who shall remain nameless weed eated my beautiful clematis plant! I was devastated! I had read about using urine as a fertilizer and decided to try it. I used a 10 to 1 ratio of 10 parts water to one part urine. I watered the clematis first, then I used a 1 gallon container with the 10 to 1 mixture. I did this once a week for 3 weeks. After a little more than a month the clematis was as big as it was before! I plan on using it more this year because I refuse to pay the fertilizer prices that are out there now!
When i was a kid my neighbors used to have a sunflower growing competition every year. The two brothers used to compete, but one brother kept on winning ever single time. The younger brother urinated on his brothers sunflower to stop it growing. It grew so big it ended up in the local newspaper. My dad (the neighbor) had 10 foot conifers as a fence and it stood taller than the conifers.
I’m not disgusted at all. People have done this for centuries. It’s used for everything from tanning hides to fertilizer. It also keeps critters away. I used it to keep squirrels away from my garden. It works!!!!! Great advice
Indeed it does :)
My partner and I keep a bucket of wood pellets, the kind used in hamster cages etc, next to our toilets and we layer our pee with the pellets... add some pellets, pee on them, add more pellets. The pellets absorb the pee, there's no odor and the carbon in the pellets helps balance out the nitrogen. We use it as top dressing and compost ingredients.
Ingenious!
Wow 😮 👍
I love this, my brain has been going crazy with ideas. Such as using toilet paper in the compost as well. Instead of flushing it down the drain to the septic.
How about not using toilet paper in the first place? Use water instead - did that and never look back
Makes my herbs, tomatoes, and peppers grow strong!
this is nature for you. everything goes round and round. we i used to grow up, my grandma always ask us to do near the fruit tree. Children just happily do bush wee or backyard wee
haha! Indeed it helps with fruit growth :)
Interesting video. Thanks for being bold enough to do it.
I like the “here’s the science bit” Lol!
lad you enjoyed it :)
Not everyone's favourite subject but great to highlight, all part of a sustainable future. Great video!
Indeed it is :)
This works great. I started a couple months ago for my winter garden. It is free and organic. My vegetable plants are loving it.
This is a good video! Clear, well organized, all the info you need in one place.
This is a great method to save water and help the plants. Appear to be working for my garden, thank you
Aww, the doves cooing in the background is so comforting. Lovely birds. Thanks for all the info!
i am absolutely not disgusted about the fact of using. in fact, i am confused on why people are using things like blood meal, bone meal, compost etc. and not using urine
Dr.Raghu Prasad Varma you can also use seaweed
Your right
Not grossed out at all. This has been really helpful and makes so much good sense. Thanks!
Thanks for all your videos, a great help an eye opener full of facts. Well researched and presented.
Great vid! Used this and had great results I’ve the years. Loved the wood ash idea, didn’t know about that:) love learning tips such as these!
We’re taking this a step further with a composting toilet system for our new cabin. There will be no more wasting water by urinating or dedicating in it. With so many people around the world without access to fresh, pure water, I began to think it kind of unethical to internationally polite fresh water this way. We have begun experimenting with urinating in garden paths and tree guilds with excellent results. Thanks so much for addressing this topic. Making a difference in one’s own little corner of the world the with intentional changes, one effects the entire world for better. Thanks for effecting change for good.
I live in North Carolina USA in the rural area. And we do have a gardening pest that we use human urine to discourage from entering and eating our produce. Deer seem to stay away from our gardening area when we spread urine around the outer edges of our gardening spots. I know this sounds strange but it really does work. Keep up the great work on your videos and dont let youtube discourage you. We really enjoy the wealth of knowledge you share with us. Praying for you and your granddad from nc usa!!!
Not strange at all. It's the hornones in the urine that puts them off. Especially if it's male urine. Thank you! Much appreciated :)
My grandmother always used urine for her cedar hedge. She also told me in her childhood it was used for eye infections.
This is helpful! Ive long suspected that urine can be a good fertilizer but haven't come accross any material that will validate this, until I saw this video. Thanks.
Thanks for another informative and useful video since I found this site I have learned and implemented many of the tips shown
We've been using it in our garden for the last few years. Works amazingly.
Good to hear :)
Project Diaries I'm vegan so the only animal I use is myself. I love the wood ash suggestion. Maybe this year we will try to incorporate that in our garden as well. Thank you!
Good to hear! I'm aiming most of my videos to Vegan Gardeners now :)
Project Diaries that is awesome. There are no channels in detail to really watch on veganic gardening. You are going in a really good direction and I wish you luck
I use it in my garden but I don't tell anybody because they won't want to eat my tomatoes anymore.
I started using my urine this year with really amazing results after subbing to Bealtine Cottage and seeing her geraniums. The geraniums, zucchini and tomatoes really are doing well. I planted everything from seeds I started indoors. Over the winter I added ash from our fireplace to all the beds. All the veg looks amazing compared to last year. We are in upper midwest USA zone 4. Our soil is heavy sand and we use the no dig method with wood chips. I just love how things look this year. Your presentations are great. New sub here. 👍🏻
The environmentalist will like it the way I like your smile when you talk. Very warm & interesting. Thanks
An excellent and informative video. Thanks for taking the time to do all this research.
Fantastic!! Should be at the top of every school curriculum!
Such a truthful video to open people’s minds 💚🌿🧤🙌
One of the most useful videos on the internet.
enjoyed the info thanks , its what ive been looking for
No one has actually said anything about medications until now - thank you for that!
Just the info I needed. Thanks!
Thank you very much for this instructive video. I recently dryed my avocado Plant because of urine, now I understand that it should be dilueted before 20:1
Big yes from me.
Quite literally it's liquid gold.
I wished u showed us exactly how to mix it, and how u apply. I’m a newbie to gardening and I want my garden to grow. But I appreciate all the history behind it it’s interesting
Tremendous amount of info in this video. I am having a Nitrogen def in my plants right now but when I use fertilizer it burns them. I am going to try this with the wood ash. Thanks so much.
Greetings from Nepal. Thanks alot for the detailed Info. Will put it into practice.
Really informative presentation, thank you !
I go off my porch into my canna beds during the summer. The ones closest are the tallest and have more vibrant foliage. Great vid!
Well observed :)
Very insightful knowledge. Thanks for sharing!
Have not tried this in pots, but to my plants in the soil love it, and when rainy I don't dilute.
Interesting and informative. Well done, thank you.
Thanks for being brave enought to broach this interesting topic. Very inteesting indeed!! Thanks mate.Well done.
You're welcome. It's a shame that the people now promoting drinking your own urine as a health benefit (Really dangerous by the way) haven't seen this video. I may do a follow up video just to clear up some of the bad information high profile youtubers are now giving out and years later becoming seriously ill.
Really great. Well presented, informative and useful. And fun!
Very helpful information. Was hoping to hear how long urine can keep before putting it on my trees. But I found out things I hadn’t thought about. Thank you!
I'm so glad you made this video! I'm always afraid to tell people I use it. I keep a wide mouth jar hidden by the toilet. Once I've finished urinating, I add an equal amount of water and add to the soil around the base of my plants. Great information Lee, as usual!
You're welcome Gale. Nice to know you're already head of the game :)
A coffee can is what I use. It is plastic with a snap on lid to. Will hold more than in pee. Just rinse out between uses.
So *you’re* the person in the office that’s doing it.
@@mildanimal5967 lol 😆 I needed that laugh! Thank you!
I use an 8 to 1 ratio. 🙂
Just found your channel and I love it. New subscriber 👍
Thank for the researches you have done! I use it and do not find any problem. It is a great resource!
You're welcome :)
I've found my hero! Definitely subscribed!!!!
Most humans, if not all, are hypocrites in some subtle ways. This age-old fertilization practice has been successfully utilized for centuries. I'm doing it to speed up the chemical process in my compost heap. This is the way to go for people living on a tight budget so long as the vegetable gardens/fruit trees thrive with the appropriate use of their urine fertilizer. Knowledge is power! Thank you.
Yep. Wait till humans find out how much urine is used in cosmetics and perfumes lol!!!
This is super brilliantly done - good job!!!
many gardens are watered from waste water after treatment, a new toilet with washbasin in available which reuses the water used in the basin . in future the disputes will be regarding water and food. we need to save it .
your video makes a point , and i appreciate it
Great info, never knew urine can be used this way, thanks!
I’ve been doing it! Just extra careful as I walk my “sample” through the house to my trees outside! 😂🤷🏽♂️👍🏽
This works great as a free plant food. I'm experimenting with it on seedlings
This was a GREAT video and very informative. Great job.
I'm not grossed out at all, but really fascinated by how useful urine can be outside our bodies! I am really glad I came across your video and how informative it was! I want to try this someday and hopefully my water bill will go down a bit XD
Great video I will definitely try this Thank you yr brilliant love yr channel 👍❤
thanks so much for your research and for a clear presentation of the science here.
heard about this before but thanks for clarifying it.
This is a great video with a lot of information. Very informative
Very informative! Let's see what happens when we add it to the flower garden.
AWESOME video! Im going to use it too!!!!! Thank you!
I'm so glad I found this video...doesn't make me feel that weird anymore! It really works on compost pile! Hehehe. 😎
Actually I like the idea of saving water. Actually I tried this before but did not notice much of a difference. I will try this again. Nice video, does not gross me out.
Great video! Thank you for making this!
As a child, I would pee in the garden in the summer, so there was one spot in the garden where the grass was 7 times taller than the rest. It was very entertaining to look at.
great stuff, especially the point in saving water that flushes urine
One of the best videos I have seen and I am happy....please make video on how compost
Very interesting and useful answer to my question about using urine. Thanks!
Great video! Thanks
Information on using urine is usually limited to dilute it 1:10. Thanks for the valuable extra info on making it a full fertiliser.
As you stated, Lee, urine was used in the manufacture of gunpowder and it was regularly collected from towns and taken to the factories, This gave rise to the phrase 'taking the piss' as the carriers were a little ashamed of transporting it in barrels instead of wine or beer. It's use as a bleaching agent is mentioned in Samuel Pepys diaries in the 17th century. Hope you and Granddad are fit and healthy now. Have a good growing season.
Thank you Paul! You too! :)
I've used it for a couple years now. Does a great job. Will try it with the pot ash this year. I don't tell anyone. I call it my secret ingredient lol. I've seen a comparison video in 8 different raised bed gardens, four beds each, comparing it with miracle grow. They all ended up with around the same growth. You need pee in bottles, or something with a cap. In open containers it will lose some of its nitrogen content.
Yes! always best to use it fresh
Thank you. I will use the 10 to 1 formula on the plants and add the potash for good measure . In these days of scarcity
Thank you. Absolutely brilliant!
Awesome information mate
I've been thinking about this lately because of the coming fertilizer shortage.
I saw the logo on steem which is kind of cool. We already left steemit and now posting on Hive which is the fork of steem. Great video
Very informative video!! Thanks!
Great and informative. Thank you!
Good advice. I save all cold water from hot taps and shower and transfer it into the cistern before flushing. I also have stashes of my urine around the garden to add to the watering can. Hope alls going well with you. Regards
My grandad always used this..........great vid. X
Thank you for the tips about how to use human urine on plants. It's my first time to learn about this.
Excellent overview and history! Good work! :)
Thank you! There were loads more but I thought that was enough to convince people :)
You should do a video from planting the seed to harvesting and cooking the final product. It will take at least 6 months to make that one episode, but I think it is perfect. You may want to mix up some time lapse footage into it. I think that is a worthy video for you to make. Spring time is approaching, so I think this is the best time to start making it. That episode should be finished by October.
Do you have access to my private notes or something? This is exactly what I've been building up to for years. I'm not ready to start the cooking channel yet as I'm still developing Grandads Kitchen but I'm almost there...
A great video, thanks. I got told many years ago about peeing on the plants was good, but not the science of it and how to make it work properly. I use urine on my leaf mould and the worms love it.
Good to hear! :)
EXCELLENT video, thanks!
Very good video with lots of information.
It really really works on my spinach ,and citrus plantes
I use as an accelerator for compost. I still don't understand why people get grossed out.
People can freak out over anything these days. It's just through the lack of information I think. Hopefully this will help :)
Cow poop is fine, though.
I can see why someone would freak out if it is put directly on a food product. It is after all human bodily fluids. You generally don’t want that on your food, regardless of how much stuff ends up on your food from major food producers that is actually worse, most people generally don’t like to hear about it.
If someone does freak out, tell them what the big food companies use as fertilizer or maybe something else natural that is grosser. The deer sometimes attack my cucumbers. So technically there could’ve been an animal slobbering on them before picking them. I usually wash my fruit before eating.
how? do you just pour the urine over the compost pile?
@@pby1000 Here here. Human urine is 100 percent completely sterile. Cow poop,,, I don't think so.
omg your smile is contagious!! :D
Thank you! :)
Really informative...I was thinking to use urine as a fertilizer . But I have certain doubts . It was clear by this vedio. Thanks
I have read that male urine is less acidic than female urine, owing to our structure, this acidity assists in preventing UTIs.
So, I encourage my hubby to pee on the compost pile and am extremely grateful that it works out this way, as I’m missing the hose attachment for effortless dispensing.😉
People are getting those hose attachments installed every day. It's the latest thing in America!
Thanks so much! I wish I knew this 17 years ago when I moved to the jungle.
