At that time, standing ovations were really special. First, because of the mean of it and, second, because it happened maybe once a year (except in special occasions like that same year). In the last 20 years standing ovations has been happening four or five times in the same Oscars night ever year.
Just watched Dead Man Walking for the first time. My God, what a movie! What a play between Penn and Sarandon. So intense, yet so natural and authentic. I'm glad she won, let alone after five (consecutive) nominations! 👏🏼 ...Also, what a category of strong female leads that year! 😮
Susan Sarandon is a brilliant great actress as they all are God bless u and your gift 2 all of us we ty Meryl alias Francesca my name the love story with Robert hits home 4 me soo selfless u loved your children and stayed 4 them u2 were brilliant in Bridges of Madison County
Meryl's scene inside the truck thinking whether to stay for her family or go with Clint and be selfishly happy is still this day one of my favorite film scenes of all time. The Bridges of Madison County is a masterpiece and Meryl deserved her 3rd Oscar for that film.
1. Susan Sarandon - well-deserved; it's her year 2. Elisabeth Shue - 1995's critics' fave for Best Actress; understated yet memorable performance 3. Meryl - committed to the role, and the result is good given the showy traits of the character 4. Sharon - a lot of mannerisms and obvious stylistic devices in her performance that could have used more control 5. Emma - wise choice to play the title role. She is way better in Howards End
Dead man walking was a composite of two murders I think. I did not know the murdered young man that one of them killed. But a customer of mine did.he had went to the young man's house to visit his dad. The young man was leaving all dressed up to go to his prom. The young man came back in the house a minute later and went into his room and changed clothes. He went back outside and started changing a flat tire on the visitors truck. He was a kind young man. The Leblanc family were such good people. I knew the dad.
this is a very tough year. i've seen all these 5 movies. i am picking elisabeth shue as there was just something in there that breaks my heart, stays in my head..
Out of all her many Oscar Nominations, Meryl Streep’s work in the Bridges of Madison County is in the top three. Phenomenal work from a first rate actress who is sometimes nominated just for being “MERYL” - this was not one of those performances.
I was rooting for Shue to get this. Her raw performance was sublime. I also think Stone did a better job than Sarandon, but the academy and its politics....have the power!
When the Academy Awards Were What The "Academy Awards" were to Be! GLAMOROUS! This was a Fabulous story! I just bet it was a great dance! I Love Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon. Great Talent. Thank You for this video!
5. Meryl Streep in The Bridge of Madison County 4. Elizabeth Shue in Leaving Last Vegas 2. The wonderful Sharon Stone in Casino and Emma Thompson in Sense and Sensibility 1. The Incredible Susan Sarandon in Dead Man Walking
Meryl tiene esa reacción en varias ocasiones. Cuando ganó Cher, ella de un salto se paro a aplaudir, aún cuando estaba nominada también. Eso habla muy bien de ella
I hate to say this, but in spite of the fact that she'd already amassed so much recognition and honours for her craft up to this point, when you take a dispassionate, clinical look at this tough line up of amazing performances Meryl Streep deserved to win yet again for The Bridges of Madison County.
What in hell drive some people to that kind of hate and violence. Is it unconfidence, or that they got betraid or got dissapointed, or got lied at. Or all of that. Have any of those who are violent dared to go in deep into why she or he lies, betraid, dissapoint. Is it too obvious. A mental sick mom or dad. Problems home from early childhood. The violent people think that it isnt their problem. Have they helped us. To build a new human kind to have the way to proof that its equality we need and nobody can be that in real life. It can be for a reason or the oposite reason. We trust in god. But that was destroyd for me too. There are no god. And the excuise for them selves, that you are not forced to watch sciense documents. Our religion was the only we had. And the one really sweet about them, they want us to try to do the same to them. Isnt that cute.
I hate Meryl's politics, but to me this was her best role ever. The aching of a different life, a more exciting life vs. her stable and bland but rewarding life was a struggle only Streep could pull off. My next door neighbor was an Italian war bride. And Streep nailed it.
Yes, her politics. Liberal at the expense of being a true American. I write. But I have never injected my political beliefs into my work. I wish Hollywood would do the same. Just do your job and keep you politics to yourself. I've never asked my plumber or my electrician what their political beliefs are because their beliefs are not gonna fix the leak or wire up the light fixture.
What a category this was! Three of the them (for me specially Sharon Stone from Casino) could've easily won. Susan Sarandon totally deserved it, Elisabeth Shue I think she gave more of an Oscar-worthy performance than Nic Cage and Meryl Streep.... my god one of my favorite performances from her in Bridges of Madison Country.
Dead Man Walking. One of the most important films to EVER come out of Hollywood. Too bad they're now all a bunch of group think virtue signalling hypocrites.
Sharon Stone was brilliant in casino but Susan deserved the Oscar.
Susan was far better in Thelma and Louise. This was just to say sorry to her.
@@AroundtheglobeNai YEP.
They all deserved nominations and a win. Sharon Stone is Gorgeous

You're right. In 2019 for EVERY win of Black Panther was a standing ovation... ?

That year was huge with performances. So tough to choose between all 5.
Agree amazing work being done by those actresses that year.
What an incredible tough year! Every actress was solid
Thank you for the clips
Susan was wonderful
A great great artist , she deserves the award so much , a very strong movie, really traumatic by me personally
Damn they were all so good that year !
So hard to say one was better than the other.

A great scene.
I agree with you it touch me so much she is not over rated . 2:14
who deserved the oscar that year?? all of them. five gifted performances. a five way tie would be great.
After five consecutive nominations, she deserved to win an Oscar.
1991 thelma and Louise
1992 Lorenzos Oil
1994 The Client
1995 Dead Man Walking
Tal cual se lo re merecía.
I didn't realize that!
Tell that to Glenn Close....

jeremyravenclaw, you are a GOD! All these amazing videos with all the movie clips! You rock, man! Keep them coming! :)
yess, keep them coming, oscar event with their clips.
Elizabeth Shue’s performance was one of her best in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed her in this movie. She should have won !
Meryl is so happy :)

I love Sharon Stone...Quick and the Dead is the best but Susan deserved that Oscar
Wow! What a lineup of performances! It would have been a toss up between Sarandon and Shue for me.
this is a very tough year. i've seen all these 5 movies. i am picking elisabeth shue as there was just something in there that breaks my heart, stays in my head..
I second Gabor's comment! These are great, many thanks!
As good as Sharon Stone was in Casino, Nicole Kidman was more deserving to be nominated for her electrifying performance in To Die For.
excellent actress
Sharon all the way
Well deserved Ms. Sarandon. BTW Elizabeth Shue is one of the hottest ladiest on the earth ^^
Sean Penn was my favorite actor all time. Seen him in Dead Man Walking make me watch it multiple times. Susan deserved the award
En este año yo les daba el Óscar a las 5...todas estupendas

Where do u find those videos with all the movie clips?

Meryl’s performance in Bridges was super emotional... she should be the winner!
I think your right!
I was rooting for Shue to get this. Her raw performance was sublime. I also think Stone did a better job than Sarandon, but the academy and its politics....have the power!
Only Meryl Streep set my heart ticking !
When the Academy Awards Were What The "Academy Awards" were to Be! GLAMOROUS!
This was a Fabulous story!
I just bet it was a great dance!
I Love Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon. Great Talent.
Thank You for this video!
Elisabeth Shue should have won.
They all should have won. There should never even be awards. Oh well.
Does anybody know the name of the piece they play when she wins?
Thank you :)
It’s from the soundtrack. Written by Eddie Veder
5. Meryl Streep in The Bridge of Madison County
4. Elizabeth Shue in Leaving Last Vegas
2. The wonderful Sharon Stone in Casino and Emma Thompson in Sense and Sensibility
1. The Incredible Susan Sarandon in Dead Man Walking
I love susan saradon
All nominees start with letter S

It is a disappointment to know the is only one Susan Sarandon in the World. Joy be to the lucky man she loves.
I wanted Sharon Stone to win haha!
Jon Moore she won the Golden Globe that year.
Meryl had the best performance of that year with Kathy Bates and Kidman... but the overdue narrative brings Susan her Oscar.
Meryl always has the best performance.
Susan reminds me of Susan Hayward.
Sharon Stone should have won IMO.
Major Snubs that year: Kathy Bates in Dolores Claiborne, Jennifer Jason Leigh in Georgia, Alicia Silverstone in Clueless, Nicole Kidman in To die for.
Alicia made history with Clueless, but the Oscar would NEVER get a nom for a role like that
Agree with the Jennifer Jason Leigh in "Georgia" - her breakdown on stage was Oscar worthy alone!
@ What history?
I'm sorry Sharon Stone deserved the Oscar.

Elisabeth Shue was robbed!!!!!
Elisabeth was robbed.
I love Susan Sarandon but Elisabeth Shue gave the top performance that year imho.
Too bad for sharon stone....
meryl streep always happy for not winning.
I adore Susan, but Sharon would be my choice.
Once again wrong winner.....Sharon Stone should have won big time.
