This is not my video, just my attempt to shorten what is one of the best half guard/guard retention videos out there. Hope the great knowledge in this video by Master Ribeiro is spread far and wide to those in the BJJ community who are nice.
Please support GracieMag and BJJLIBRARY.COM so they continue to provide more of these great videos to learn from. - Sport

You sir are a legend
Forever indebted to you.

The fact that anyone down voted this just proves that out of any large group there will always be complete and utter morons. Anyway, thank you for uploading this and Xande, thank you for being you.
Man, listening to Xande's explanations and instructions is just amazing. Phenomenal instructor.
this seminar has uplifted my bjj more than any video in years. great video. thank you for the upload. Xander Ribeiro is a great teacher of the obvious to BJJ masters.
No kidding. After 2-3 classes my game has improved enough for higher belts to notice a difference
@@belatorius3442with Xande?
Watched this video a year ago, and then came back to it now. Still had new light bulb moments. Jiu-jitsu is incredible, and Xande is too. Great stuff.
There are good athletes and good teachers. A good athlete not necessary a good teacher. Xande I think is both. Very good fundamentals explanation
"ATTACK HER NECK, PORRA!" hahaha Xander's a beast
Xande, I'm 54 years old and enrolled in Jiujutsu for the first time in my life! This video footage and your instruction, your passion is very inspiring. Thank you very much! :-) :-)
Eu morro de rir quando Xande fala "aí oh". òtimo seminário!
"There's a moment when you're screwing something, that you feel like you're almost there..."
After 4 years of getting flat on my half guard, thanks to prf ribeiro, i managed to find the appropriate guard/ position. Thanks a lot muito obrigado for sharing your knowledge
His Technical prowess speaks for itself, I am curious to see his gameplans and modules for all those he helps compete
"There's always adjustments and feelings, even before a technique happens, you have to be emotionally connected to it." Brilliant.
2:55 shield, frame, paddle concept
26:02 Loop choke to attack aggressive knee slice
36:59 reverse half guard escape by using knee elbow connection and hiding head under
Great video. Thank you! Favorite quote..."That's the dark side of Xande never show anybody!" kkkk
12:50 "ô gracie barra, chega aí, c'mom pass" So funny when he mixes portuguese with english, the girl had no idea what he was saying.
This was amazing. I do think too much about sweeps and reversals. Didn't realize how I completely missed the fundamental ideas and skipped over to the sweeps. Amazing video.
if Bas Rutten was Brazilian...
Alan 😂😂😂😂
bang bang bang
Definitely
i knew i couldnt be the only one who thought that. hes just like look at all of the amazing shit i dooooo ready break give it a shot
@@JohnSmith-mo2sv haha you're right everyone just nut hugging. Good nuggets but alot of what u said lol
This was the best reference as a white belt and I still come back to it as a blue belt. Also gotta love how Xande effortlessly sweeps Olga the world champion on her head at 20:20. Serious skills.
he is such a great instructor
All the philosophy is clear, back to the basics for an effective guard.
There are positions that I was searching technical solutions for long time without finding and this video give me the answer thanks to Xande and thanks to Jiu jitsu Muse.
Great video really make change in my game.
I'm just 13 minutes in and WOW..... the way he explains simple concepts is amazing! Also, a seminar is about presentation, and he is so good at involving people and making it simple to understand! Very Impressed! I'm used to see him as a boring uke in his brother's book... He's much more scary here... haha
Dude is insane. Seriously. If you're new to bjj, not getting your guard passed that years is incredible. He's got some other good videos about this. Wow man
Awesome seminar! Thank you. The last escape you showed has been plaguing for over a year now. I can't wait to put this into my tool box.
outstanding teaching! I love this!
Great concept with amazing results! Thank you sir!
Damn love how he teches.
This is gold.
Exactly my thoughts.
Awesome seminar, thanks for cutting
This has helped so much
Excellent information. In the youtube era one's BJJ game can improve so much faster. Love it.
Thank you! Beautiful!
I just lost everything after watching that blue belt at the end.
Lots of ah ha moments here. Xande is the man.
thank you for posting it!!!
13 people still got their guard passed.
Ribeiro jiu jitsu = excellence.
Amazing instruction thank you ..
12:16 "when you screwing something and you feel it's almost there and that's where you don't want it to get"
Great video!!
He is the one of the best
This is aaa-mazing !!!
Incredible.
JIU-JITSU GRACIE DE VERDADE PRA VALER,VALEU☻🥋👊🏿👍🏿
Great video
This is gold
Pure gold
great video thanks
"My frames are a mask..." spooky Xande
That is the kind of guard I want !!
1:08 "Shit, I'm gonna teach Gracie Barra" lmao
1 decade of guard retention in 1 video.
You were standing right next to me. I have the exact same video
Great to watch but also the love child of bas rutten and renato laranja
Mind blown...
Very good
He haven't had his guard passed even as a white belt? What am I even doing in my life as a white belt?!
Right hand on his hip. No, right hand on his hip. Right hand. His hip. Your right hand on his hip. Not your foot. Not his foot. His hip. Your right hand. Your other right hand.
"Funny thing is, whenever it's Gracie Barra, Xande always kind of jokes around, lol. Gracie Barra, Roger Gracie, those guys, the crowd used to give him a hard time when he was fighting against Roger or another fighter, but especially Roger, so whenever he sees someone wearing a Gracie Barra gi, he always throws in a little joke."
the sound is alot better on headphones, !! i watched this like 10 times and couldnt hear it on speakers.
vamo la gracie barra, pass huehuhe
PORRA......What a great video......
He said Roger was the only person to pass his guard but didn't Marcelo Garcia pass his guard at ADCC? Maybe he meant only in the gi.
Marcelo Garcia doesn't count
@@StratOnFire Why ?
19:08 That cranked me up 😂😂😂😂😂
purple belt that doesn't know back step... *cringe*
great details!!
Wait what? never had his guard passed from white belt to brown belt? how did he learn that and escapes?
Didn't Marcelo Garcia pass his guard and choke him out in adcc
yes... i was wondering why his name wasn't mentioned. czcams.com/video/uA3M8RbVUt0/video.html
This is the comment I was hoping to see. MG definitely passed his guard.
I assume he's talking about BJJ and not No-Gi grappling (which is more slippery than with the Gi)
He specifically talked about 2005. He said no one had passed his guard in 11 years, in 2016.
I think he's only counting SC or mount for some reason?
Apparently going around to his back doesn't count?
That blue belt at the end.... jesus
Demotion worthy
Blue belt and the end HE NO RISSEN!!
from white to brown and never had guard passed! 😞
"Chega ai gracie barra"🤣🤣
you name it. just escape, shield frame paddle. every fuckin time
14:28 lmfao bring Luke Rockhold here!
19:42 attack her neck porra lol
Anyone knows any other video like this?
czcams.com/video/Gk2xuJ3Y7-A/video.html
My jiujitsu long what?? Please sir
PA
39:02 incorrect explanation of centripetal force
5:30 This guy has no idea which hand is his right hand!
What makes it worse is this guy is "wearing" a black belt😱😭😭😭
Why did he say? “Shit I’m teach grace barra?” Anybody??? I just started at Gracie barra
Oss
That Blue belt at the end is seriously behind in the techniques and brains department.
That guy was a classic spaz. I admire Xande's patience.
Purple belt didn't know a backstep? Maybe just nervous?
anyone got 11:20 to 11:50 explaining i could see what she did!?
arching her back to create distance between his grip and her head while also tyring to tuck her right elbow under her own body
Lucas
It's ok to cry to mama a little bit. Then come back. 🙂
13:36
what we got here ? faceplant! LOOL
btw what's with the title? Why have you written his name wrong ?
eifelitorn Xande is his nickname.
It's like you when you screwing something there is a moment when you feel you are almost there and that's where I don't wan you to get...... ROFL. 12:07
Atack your neck porra! kkkk 19:43
Is that girl from game of thrones on the background ?)
Who was he rolling with as a white belt to never get his guard passed?
in comp lol
Watching the guy at the beginning put himself in side control was... hard to see.
I think this is great knowledge.. but sometimes I wonder at what point is it that it crosses the line between jiu jitsu as a sport to jiu jitsu as a real life self defense system.. I feel like it’s easy to cross the line and then look back and notice that you’ve crossed that line a while back without even noticing..
I think Ribeiro has mentally blocked his loss to Marcelo.
never had guard passed white to brown? okay.
no hes talking about as a black belt competitor in competitions.
twice_baked potato no, he said as a white belt he never had his guard passed
well then perhaps he hasnt in competition since white belt against other whitebelts, but thier is no way on earth that hes never gotten his guard passed as a white blue etc. against higher belt at gracie humaita. no way possible on earth.
on competition maaaan...
hes like olga basically in front over everyone im just sayin figure it out dude its not that hard
my poor left ear
